I tried paying with Masterpass with my commbank debit card and it said "Sorry, the merchant doesn't accept this card. Please select another". According to masterpass FAQ it should accept all cards including debit cards. I'm stumped

    • Is it a Visa/Mastercard debit card, or just a keycard to your account?

      • Mastercard debit card (I use it for all my purchases in person and online - has paypass)

        • Definitely has worked for me before.

        • @theguyrules:

I'm not sure why, I tried several times. It does go through the commbank masterpass links (with email login and mobile code) and when selecting the card, it says the error.

        • Same thing happened to me. Did anyone manage to go through?

I also had the same issues paying through commbank with my debit mastercard, so I just directly signed up for a masterpass account (not through commbank) and it lets you put in any card, even a visa card or other. So I just put in my visa debit from UBank and it worked fine!

      • Thanks for the info; i'll try that next time :)

      • How did you select any card? I can only see a link to various banks (comm bank, bendigo & nab)

EDit - found it - if you clear the cookies, it allows you to start again.
I just added my card and it worked. Thanks

    • Same issue …

    • So just an update:

Sign up to Masterpass through the general website (and not through your bank) and add your card. That way works. Kudos to Shortnsweet

They sure did time this deal pretty well. Doctor Strange gets released on 27th October, the deal is only valid for sessions between 15th September to 26th October.

    • you may prebook it on 26/10 ?

    • As its gonna be some movie, its mediocre and cheap beyond belief.

    • Exactly, bad timing. It's not like we have Miss Peregrine's, The Magnificent Seven, The Girl On The Train, Deepwater Horizon, Inferno and Jack Reacher 2 opening during that timeframe.
And it's not like we currently have Bridget Jones' Baby, The Secret Life of Pets, Sully, Pete's Dragon, Blair Witch, Don't Breathe, Bad Moms and Nerve.
Oh, and I think, I think, it will also miss out on the School Holidays period….

So you are right, they were definitely thinking about Doctor Strange and how to screw us…

  • selected 1 masterpass adult and 1 normal adult.. systems asks me to select 3 seats.

Select 1 Masterpass adult and choose 2 seats.

  • I go through RACQ for Event cinema tickets. $11 + booking fee when you put the coupon into Events website. Changes depending on cinema type: standard, vmax etc.

Just need to have a membership card, or know someone that does. Just need the membership number to be able to purchase online.

Guys!!! This 2 for 1 works with everything, including Vmax and Cheap Tuesdays!!!! This is awesome!!! E.g.: 2 tix at North Lakes on Tuesday for $11.70

Not everything, as per the conditions it doesn't apply to Gold Class :(

      • And not only excluding Gold Classs. It doesn't apply to "Miss Saigon" (15th Oct) either.

  • I have a coles mastercard(Credit card) but not a debit mastercard.

However, I can see an option "Masterpass by Mastercard" under list of Banks.. I can register for that by adding my AMEX/VISA card as well.

Any idea will that work ?

  • Got two for $14.10 Events cinema Innaloo. Thanks op.

Thank heavens for Cineplex and not having to support these #&$&#&.

    • Riiight, because Cineplex is top notch, specially South Bank, now with less than 20 scratches per screen!!!

  • I'm just trying now and it shows

  • Bloody master pass can't recognise my card even though it's valid. Wasted an hr calling tech support after it said "Sorry, we could not validate your card."

  • Sign up to Masterpass (which is like PayPass but for MasterCard) through the MasterPass website (and Not through your bank) and Add ANY card.

    1. Go to this website
      https://wallet.masterpass.com/Wallet/masterpass/en-au/

    2. Select "Sign up"

    3. Complete your MasterPass account

    4. Select your Event Cinema ticket

    - When checking out of Event Cinema, Select "Pay with MasterPass" - it's the MasterPass logo (don't select the bank you are with)
    - Logon to MasterPass with your email and password you just set up

    = Free ticket!

Just did it and works fine. :)

    • Thanks this worked with my Visa card.

  • Doesn't work for The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years

  • Not working anymore?

    • Yeah looks to be the case and the URL to the deal is a 404 but if you look at the cached version it said offer was supposed to be valid until 26th October!

      What gives!

      • Untill sold out they must of had a limit

    • Confirmed, was working on Sunday.

  • $7.10 per ticket on Tuesdays! ($13 Masterpass ticket + bf)

  • Still working, and I was able to register my Amex onto Masterpass, so you don't even have to have a Mastercard. In fact, I don't even know why you have to choose a bank, etc. I chose Westpac, but it didn't ask me to login or prove that I was a customer (I did register a Westpac card though. Didn't think to try registering some other card).
