  • Any evidence that these are any good?

Not sure about this one but the magnetic nexus phone cover I got from Kogan is good.

I got this identical case from Kogan about 2 years ago (maybe more??) and can attest that it is a pretty good tablet case, but it is for the Nexus7 2012. It won't fit the 2013 model, I have both.

My only complaint is that it is a bit thick on the back side of it due to the wrapping around of the front cover. So "thin" is out and since the tablet is about 12kg, the cover is light, I guess… :D

If you have a 2012 Nexus 7 and need a case, $4 is a good price.

      Source: I own this cover.

It's a magnet smart cover for $4, what are you honestly expecting?

      • It's not what I'm expecting it's whether it's good or not.

          Read above.

        • @tranqme: Thank you for your patronising comment. It looks like this item has been discounted having previously been sold for a higher price. Therefore if i were to buy this product, I would like to know if it is good quality or not (as is the case with any product I buy). My expectations are that if it's selling for $4 the cases might not be of high quality. However, if it has been heavily discounted, maybe the case is good quality but Kogan have excess stock and need to get rid of them. Have I made myself a little clear there mate? If I haven't, unfortunately I won't be replying to your next comment as I didn't like your comment above. Cheers

        • @thecrevis:

The case has been discounted because it's to suit a tablet which is 4 years old, therefore it's obviously old stock that is on clearance.

  • i need a case for my ipad mini 1 gen

Surprisingly my Nexus 7 is still going very strong. It wasn't even that long ago that I managed to find the original pogo pin dock on the cheap too.

    • Mine has now been retired to car GPS and diagnostic OBD II scanner. It has the dreaded non charging bug that I just can't seem to fix. But I can drive for about 8 hours before the battery gives out and the charger just won't keep up with it. Charges super fast when it's off, just not while it is on.

      • That's what I used to use mine for. I haven't had the charging bug yet though.

    • Wow.. I've been through like 3 of them and they never lasted for me. Oh well.

    • I still have one for the kids, bought refurbished a couple years ago. It's pretty slow, but wiping the cache via recovery every so often seems to get it going.

Can't recommend highly enough slimkat ROM with F2FS filesystem.
Turns the tablet from slow and buggy even after wiping cache and trimming into a glorious multitasking experience.
Takes a bit of reading to get working, but well worth it.

        • I think I will give that a try. See if I can breath some life back into this old girl. It's been a great tablet and make an awesome GPS replacement running Waze.

  • any recommendations for cheap, quality one for Nexus 7 (2013)?

    • Never seems to be any cases for the 2013 on clearance…always for the 1st gen, unfortunately.
