It is 40% off or Up To 40% off?

I was disappointed with the 10% off when I was in Masters last time.
This better be across all carpet/wallpaper products.

    • Up to 40% off means that it's not 40% off across all of the products. It could be as low as 10% off on a lot of products.

It's up to 40% off, the majority is only 10% off.

  • …unless they changed it today

You're not going to see any 'real' bargains for another 6-8weeks. After that you'll snap up whatever's left.

  • The blinds are mostly 30% off on their website, wallpaper 40%, carpets are not online to check.

  • Could not find anything to buy.
Already no or very low stock.
    Still more expensive than competitors.

    • suppliers taking back their stock?

Their regular curtain and blind sales ran at 50% off…pffft!

Not currently much of a closing down clearance. Clearance is like 80% off. Proper sales won't be until weeks away yet.

  • They charge ridiculous prices for their blinds… went in there and saw a crappy pull down aluminium one for $300… I bought one almost identical in 2008 however with a more sturdy mechanism for $80 from one of the furniture stores, couldn't believe they're trying to flog this off for $270 (at the time with 10% off)! With 40% off it would still be too much… adjusting for inflation I'd expect no more than $120.

  • Since nobody has added any sexual innuendo to this post I will…

Does the carpet match the drapes?

Back to post… The carpet may be good but most of the blinds left have packaging so damaged I doubt you would walk out with a straight or a complete set.

  • Looked at a folding picnic table.
Was only a few left but all damaged.
They said 10% is all they can do,
    but more stock,
as in two container ships of stock is in transit

When they increase the discount to 50% storewide I will go back.

Till then it's just tourists having a first and last look buying souvenirs

Don't waste your time, their sale are horrible, even when they're closing down, their price are still expensive. Save your trip and go to bunning.

Be careful everyone. The liquidator has increased prices then slapped a 'discount' on. Proof here in my case; https://imgur.com/gallery/v5zPs

Other members have noted that veneer floorboards had the same thing done.

Stanley tool chests went from $549 to $699 and now have a 10% discount off the $699…

Actually there is no liquidator because Masters was never placed into administration nor liquidation. It was just that Woolworths decided to do a gradual closing down of Masters due to profit losses. So that you got wrong. What you're saying is that the owners of Masters jacked up the prices before the store closing down sales and then applied the discounts off that. It's a closing down due to profit losses and we want to get out of the hardware market sale.

      • 'we' ? Undeclared affiliation?

  • I went to Masters Preston today to check out the 40% off carpet. Apparently the first thing Masters (Preston at least) did when they announced they were closing was to get rid of the carpet section. Sort of makes sense given they have to order the carpet in.
