  • Is this ok for games? I would prefer an Acer 144mhz IPS with wide colour gamut & Gsync but I am not sure if that is worth the extra $400+
Would this have better black levels?

A lot of monitors are OK for gaming. I wouldn't say this is DESIGNED for gaming.

    • +1

I bought this monitor during the last sale. It has been great for gaming. I don't notice any lag at all. It maxes out at 60fps but that doesn't bother me. The only negative I can find compared to other panels is the noticeable amount of IPS glow.

    • If you want gaming capability. Perhaps ASUS MX27AQ is more suitable for similar price: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-MX27AQ-27-2K-WDHQ-Frameless-…

    • Is this ok for games?

Thats a funny question. Anything old junk is OK for games.

Why don't people ask "Is this OK for important things?" ?

Are you asking about PC_based PoV shooters? Playstation?
QHD is wasted, but you might want fast refresh.
The important question is connectivity - hdmi2 or DP ?

        PoV shooter

        Wut?

        • Point of view shooter. 1st person shooter?

        • -2

PoV shooter deals are not allowed on Ozbargain

      Is this ok for games?

      Yes.

I would prefer an Acer 144mhz IPS with wide colour gamut & Gsync

That would have much better moving image quality ie. reduced blur and higher framrates without tearing.

but I am not sure if that is worth the extra $400+

It is if you want higher image quality and smoother action in games. But assuming your video card can maintain 60 FPS most of the time 60 FPS without tearing provides reasonably good experience.

  • Thanks! Great colour accuracy too.

Futu has Dell U2715H for $700 all the time, when was it raised to $729? Was that before the eBay 20% sell? Greedy?

    • +1

They bumped up all their prices but just enough to still stay a few dollars cheaper than most vendors after the 20%.

waits patiently for 1440p G-Sync 144hz to come down

    • +2

      I am waiting for a 27-inch 1440p 144Hz IPS G-Sync to get down to $600. Probably never will :(

In six months time edfoo will be loving his new 27-inch 1440p 144Hz IPS G-Sync monitor.

Somehow the p has started being added to resolutions when describing computer monitor resolution which makes zero sense at all. p was added to television broadcast and Bluray resolution descriptions to distinguish it (progressive) from interlaced content at the same resolution.

Somehow this has crept into descriptions of monitor resolutions where it's utterly meaningless because computers do not recieve TV broadcasts or etc etc.

        • Somehow this has crept into descriptions of monitor resolutions where it's utterly meaningless

It's not meaningless, it now connotes 'resolution', because simply writing '1080' feels weird. Language evolves, deal with it.

        • Well Diji1, I guess 1440p is just a lazy way for us instead of typing 2560*1440 resolution. Another way is to type QHD.

        • @edfoo:

1080p is a television broadcast standard. 1440p is not. Quoting only the vertical resolution is only a meaningful abbreviation if you can make an assumption the aspect ratio. That's never been the case for computer monitors. It's especially not the case now because 21x9 aspect ratio monitors with 1080 and 1440 vertical resolution are becoming increasingly common.

  • Bought this in the last sale (~$580), loving it so far!

Do we get the proper 3 year cover from dell if we buy from footu on fleabay?

    • +1

      The eBay listing states:
Specifications - Service / Support Details
3-Year Advanced Exchange Service and Premium Panel Guarantee

If this is a retail version, you should get the Dell warranty and that is the Dell terminology in the warranty info. ( http://accessories.dell.com/sna/PopupProductDetail.aspx?c=us… )

I had a DOA U2713H and Dell was extremely quick to replace it once they accepted there was a fault (getting a human being to log the fault was the biggest problem). They had a van delivering a brand new one next day.

Which one is a better buy guys? This one or the LG one? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/265483

    • Were you able to compare and decide?
      What was your conclusion?

    • The LG has the advantages of higher res 4K and Freesync (if you own an AMD graphics card).

  • I just bought this one Acer XB270H-G 27" LED Gaming Monitor 1MS FHD 1080P DisplayPort G-Sync 144Hz for 520 from that sale.

  • If anyone is still looking for a high res screen - just picked up this 32" 4k (Korean) with the 15% off ebay sale - under $500: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/322246610819

Looks incredible… initial reviews seem good. Let's see…
