Great little units. Lone my play 5.

Love these speakers. Would like to add a Play 3 to my two Play 1s but the boss says no. Apparently the two Play 1 are loud enough for her. :)

    • The Play:1's are pretty impressive for their size, better in a Stereo pair, but great by themselves!

  • how did you get $586.46 for Play5? When I click on the link it tells me that the price is $689.95. Discounting 10% brings it down to $629.1

    • Code is 15% off, not 10%!

      • Oh Thanks. The 10% link in the body threw me off.

        Cheers

        • Oh, good spot, will update it, was a copy/paste from the posting suggestions OzB gives you when posting a deal.

  • They had the sub too, but it sold out as I was adding to my basket :(

  • Have a look at Yamaha XW-030. You can pick them up for around $300 - $350.
They outplay Sonos and they might have taken over from Sonos as the new medium level wireless kings.
I had Sonos and moved over to Yamaha 3 months ago. Much better product sound and App wise.

    • They outplay Sonos and they might have taken over from Sonos as the new medium level wireless kings.

Who would you consider as low level wireless kings?

Pure Jongo with the (expired) Harvey Norman run out deal. I scored a couple of the Pure Jongo S3 speakers for $30 each! I've since picked up another on ebay from the UK for under $100 to go with them.

Thanks! New to the whole wireless audio scene so Sonos is probably the only brand I've ever heard.

          @kevinMario:

Sonos is like Toyota. It's the name that keeps them afloat.

Yamaha, Bose, Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin to name a few that is head and shoulders above Sonos. Sonos is old technology BUT they were the first to start the whole WIFI APP trend. They still are good BUT not the best.

You can buy better for cheaper.

@Horakn: always up for recommendations - you sound like you know heaps about this.

  • just bought a Play 5. Thanks OP

Nice? Be prepared, if this is your first one, it likely won't be your last!

        lol couldn't agree more. This is my 7th speaker. Have 4xPlay1, 2xPlay3, 1xPlay5 Gen1 and 2xConnect

        • Damn! Nice :D

  • Love my Sonos! Shame they don't appear to have the Playbar!

  • Great stuff.

    Already got 2xPlay3 and 5xPlay1.

Soon the Spotify app can be used directly and no need for the Sonos app. Late this month or October.

    • Nice collection! Yeah very good news for those who don't like the Sonos app

I'm very excited for the Amazon Alexa integration :D

    • What are the issues with the Sonos App?

      • It´s fine really, but even better to use the Spotify app directly. A lot more functionality. Spotify will open their interface so I belive not only Spotify will be possible to use but also the other clients, e.g. Apple Music

        • At moment i use Pandora and Radio by TuneIn

    • thanks for the heads up. hate to use sonos app to play spotify.

    I dont need anymore…
    currently got 3 play 1s, 2 gen 2 play 5s, 2 play 3s… all in a 2 bedroom unit.

but…. we are building a new house (hence why we have got so much already)… and now I am considering grabbing the amps, just so we can ceiling mount some other speakers!

warning! beware of sonos! they are an addiction!

    • I have 2 Connect:Amp's with 8" Selby in-ceiling speakers, lacking a little bass but that isn't the Amp's fault. I'm considering adding a sub to the mix to fill the room out a little.

      • Can you add a Sub to the Amp or does it have to be a Sonos Sub

        • Can do both, there's a Sub output on the amp

Very Tempting to spend too much money on Sonos with this deal

  • argh so tempted to get another play1 for the kitchen…

Nice find OP! I need a speaker. I hear Sonos are the best. I'm looking at Play 1 to start off with. My only concern is that are they not an old product? Pretty sure they came around 2013.

    • +3

They are great :) I started off with a Play 1 too.

As far as product updates go, Sonos are about the only company that I know that still updates every single product they've released. Their old controllers and the even the original connect:amp hardware still run the same software as the brand new ones.

It's one of the reasons I'm a supporter, I don't feel like they're just going to abandon the products any time soon.

      • Thanks buddy. Just noticed it is Gen2 so did end up buying one.

        • @VCHAN, you referring to Play 5 Gen 2 or Play 1 Gen 2 ( not sure if Play 1 Gen 2 is out?)

        • @Baahubali: it said gen 2 on the eBay page. Can't find it in the mobile page.

Cheers OP picked up the Sonos Sub for ~$780

  • I'm guessing as this is coming from a NZ store, no GST applies and therefore I cant claim back on TRS?

  • Question 1
I have Playbar. Need to decide which one should we choose first sub or play 1, 3, 5. Room is not big. Main purpose is to watch movie.

    Question 2

Does Playbar need Sonos Bridge to integrate with Play 1, 3, 5, Sub or wireless network is sufficient?

    Question 3
Play 5 gen 2 released in November 2015 but when Play 1, Play 3 and Sub released in the market?
