Its made out of gold, thats why its so expensive!

      Oh wait… ;)

      • +1

correction…it's got an apple logo on it, thats why its so expensive!

  • +3

Amazing… $1769 for a phone. Apparently Apple stores are sold out of the 7 Plus too. Says something about the premium mobile consumer's willingness-to-pay.

    • +2

Was thinking it says more about what Apple fans are willing to pay..

    • +1

From what I can see people are paying for an updated camera with phone functions on the side… more of an icamera?

  • +7

    "bargain"

  • +2

this is apple store price and why it is showing as $1769 in ausluck?

    • Apple store is out of stock till November. This is for people who want instant (albeit slightly postage delayed) gratification.

    • opportunists, they sell it for people who can't get their hand on new released iphone (no stock, wait time etc..) and prepare to pay premium price.

      • Back in my country we call it as selling items in black and it is illegal :)
We complain to police about this black rate and police used to make them stand without shirts and publish in newspapers ;)

        • +1

What happens when it's a women selling it?

      • +2

        Yeah
Ironically the iPhone 7 is a crap phone

        Screens lifting
        Microphones not working

I'm not interested in a near 2k phone when there are plenty of great phones less than 600

I'd rather not try and be with the in crowd with a sheep phone

Sellers are profiteering and I think eBay and Apple need to step in and stop people taking advantage of stock shortages etc

        • -1

Ironically the iPhone 7 is a crap phone

Ironically, it still significantly better than the best Android like the Samsung Note7, eh?

I'd rather not try and be with the in crowd with a sheep phone

I love how Android users don't consider that they are also sheep when they purchase the latest model.

They simply don't understand just how much better the iOS devices are in normal everyday usage, nor how much better they retain their resale value. An iPhone is often cheaper in the long run for people who can actually afford to purchase a phone (rather than allow themselves to be raped on contract)

Most iPhone users aren't interested in a cheap upfront cost anyway. Personally I can afford and own both Android and iPhone, and there is no way I am a sheep simply because I prefer the superior iPhone products.

        • @llama: i cant hear you through my earphone jack

        • @furythree:

There is still no 100% effective solution to operator error.

        • @llama: im just taking the piss

in any case, can we stop fighting over which phone is better

iphones clearly have their problems, ppl need to stop defending apple's totalitarian monopolistic business practices that have compromised their design again and again

and ppl need to stop defending android phones because they have their own issues. Fragmentation, lagginess, build quality issues, the fact that its a memory hog cause of java etc

        • @furythree:

          im just taking the piss

          Me too :-)

in any case, can we stop fighting over which phone is better

I agree. I have no problem with discussions and arguments about which phone is better. What makes me get cranky is that entire "sheep" comment and what goes along with it. It's such a stupid, ignorant thing to say.

ppl need to stop defending apple's totalitarian monopolistic business practices

I must respond to that one. I reckon Android users need to stop facilitating Google's totalitarian monopolistic business practices.

    • Yeah right, sold out with only a handful of units on sales.

  • Mobile Network Carriers will soon need to come up with a $200+ monthly 24-month plan for this.

  • +5

RRP is $1569. Not really a deal when the retailer is selling the phone $200 above RRP, despite the 15% discount.

  • seller changed to pre-order listing

    • :(
      hopefully mine isnt effected.

      • Shouldn't be, you should still get yours in 3 days :)

  • Why are mobile so expensive compared to similar spec tablets?

    • -3

they are 2 different devices. Might as well ask why they are so expensive compared to a TV

      • +5

They use the same SoC and architecture. TV have an entirely different components.
A tablet has a closer purpose & use to mobile, than a TV would have to mobile.
It is a FAIR question that someone asked me recently.
Why are there so many haters for legitimate questions?

        • Because people will pay for it.

        • -1

same same yet different. Mobile can make calls and use cellular data while tablet cannot. Tablet with cellular capability is also more expensive than those without.
Camera on mobile also has better specs than tablets.

        • @mcp2kpro: OK, I didn't realise the camera on phone were better.

        • The phone and the tablet have the same "guts" but the phone requires significantly higher levels of technology to pack all that inside such a small device.

And have it run apps just as fast, and not overheat, and have acceptable battery life.

So, basically you are paying for the miniaturisation - the ability to carry a full size tablet around in your shirt pocket.

        • @llama: That makes sense, but to throw a curve ball, the plus if more expensive than the non-plus.

        • @congngo:

but to throw a curve ball, the plus if more expensive than the non-plus

Hardly a curve ball. The Plus is the same thickness and technology but with a larger and higher resolution screen.

          6 and 7 Plus = 1920-by-1080-pixel resolution at 401 ppi
          6 and 7 Std = 1334-by-750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi

So, that Plus screen cost extra.

The 7 Plus has a 2x Optical Zoom main camera, which is a big step up.

That's why it is called "iphone Plus" rather than "iPad Mini", and priced accordingly.

          iPhones: http://www.apple.com/au/iphone/compare/
          vs Ipads: http://www.apple.com/au/ipad/compare/

        • @llama: Thank you.

  • Gotta love that whopping 15% discount.

  • Lol, actually it was more of a snort.

  • +1

I'd advise buying from Myer with 10% or 5% off giftcards

  • +2

Almost 2K for a crappy phone, you've got to be kidding!

  • +2

I saw a kid on the news and he was the first in a queue. He said he won't sell his place for 4K, LMAO.

  • +2

price is 1869 now no game

    • +4

      dodgy seller……..

    • +1

Holy crap. I paid about that much for a retina 512gb Macbook Pro from JB 3 years ago and I thought that was a ripoff

  • +1

AU $1,999.00 is the price now

  • basically a pre-order until nov for more expensive then apple store? lol..

  • +1

Only 3 units sold with 500 clicks.

  • +1

I would expect a 5 year warranty for this much money.

    • Why so long? The person this is targeted towards will most likely get the new model every year.

    • +1

I would expect a 5 year warranty for this much money.

I rather pay 1/5 of the RRP price with a year warranty.

      • Then do what I did and get an iphone SE. Not quite 1/5th the price and it's not a phablet, but a great phone for a reasonable price… under $600 with ebay 15% for 64gb version.

  • +1

Comparing to this, $600 S7 looks like a bargain to me. My iphone 5s is going strong and I don't think I would need another apple phone any soon. However, this is still a deal for those who are in the market for iphone 7.
