  • Warranty issues with Dicksmith/kogan is a killer for the deal, unless microsoft is easy to deal with directly. Have a few mates with warranty issues on the surface pro 4

Own a SP4. Have had nonstop issues.

Fantastic device and I love it…when it works.

      • What issues are you talking about?

        • I have too many to list. Go google SP4 issues and you'll find plentiful.

The most recent ones that's been annoying the crap out of me:
-It wakes itself up 70% of the time from sleep.
-CPU frequency was locked to max (fixed)
-Restarts instead of waking from sleep

        • @mrblu: WiFi speed, fan noise and overheating … its not what you expect for the price. Screen is amazing and is pretty power

        • @CleverCounter: I can concur about the fan noise. Thankfully for me the fans rarely ever spin up, but when they do, they are extremely noisy.

I've found the battery life to not match what is advertised. It's actually quite poor, and I run it on 50% brightness. The battery discharges quite a bit when left unused for a period of time.

It will actually die if you leave it too long.

Nintendo are really good at batteries that don't self discharge. The DS Lite and 3DS don't seem to lose any charge at all even when you leave it unplayed for a year.

    • Yeah I am not sure whey MS won't provide International warranty for such a high price product.

      • Because it would cost them a fortune with all the faulty SP4 devices - mine included.

        Their aftersales support is crap.

  • Yep these are grey imports. Considering Futu has had local stock as low as $1599 for the 8GB/256GB model on the 20% off ebay sales, I'd say this isn't a great deal.

    • +5

I find it misleading for Kogan to buy DSE brand and sell grey imports with it. The consumer who isn't up to date on these things will assume it's Dick Smith, Dick Smith has always been an Aussie brand, so it's going to be local warranty. This is a dick move.

I expect this to be on the front page cause the $2000 "free" xbox made it there cough

Seriously though this is like $850 cheaper but people get baited by freebies. Was considering one but got a z4 tablet a few weeks back instead, something light, fast, portable, waterproof, battery etc

  • Rumour is that the refreshed version with Kaby Lake is just around the corner, I'm really interested to see what the surface book 2 will look like!

    • Hopefully it won't have the gap when the book is closed.
