I was about to post this but then found this link which says the deal is available Monday to Friday only. Can anybody verify which is correct? Weekend or weekday only?

    • Based on that like and the front page which says "Fish and chips w/ a wedge of lemon $7.99 now $3. After 11 am and weekends only!", it sounds like the detail is available after 11am on weekdays, and all weekend within the promotional period of 26/09-07/10. OP might want to update the listing to show when the deal lasts until so people can get their dose of fish!

It's just the bones. Once you have completed the skeleton they give you the rest.

  • Is the fish imported from Sweden?

          @supnigs:
From the sewerage and stench of the MeKong delta

        • basa/panga. eat it all the time. tastes fine. hasn't killed me yet.

a lot of the bad press probably comes from other fish farmers & fishermen who are whinging and making up stories that panga is bad because they can't compete on price.

"Tests by Asda and Tesco in the UK have found no trace of toxic contaminants. Test from AQIS found trace levels of malachite green, but no other contaminants."

"Basa are grown in one of the most suitable environments for fish farming found anywhere in the world. The Mekong River (from which drains much of the Himalayan snow melt) has one of the largest consistent flows of fresh, clean water on the planet. Australian environmental scientists working for the Mekong River Commission, which monitors water quality at over 50 sites, confirm that testing over the past 15 years shows no serious contamination of the river - partly because there is little industry in its catchment, and partly because of its large flow. It is one of the cleanest of the world's large rivers. Claims that the Mekong River is seriously contaminated have been overwhelmingly refuted by those Australian scientists working in the region."

        • @devilbabies: catfish are yucky fish. They are scavengers that lurm and swallow mud. Will eat anything. It's a very cheap fish for a reason

        • @supnigs: meh… people eat yucky chickens and pigs and drink yucky milk sucked from dirty cow udders .. all these animals are gross, live in their own filth and eat off the ground .. any other farmed fish are going to be just as bad .. swimming in and eating each other's poop

basa grow fast and vietnamese labor is cheap. that's why it's cheap.

        • @devilbabies: gut a cat fish and you may find it has swallowed a turd whole. No kidding..

        • @supnigs: Human or elephant turd?

        • salmon is farmed and so is blue fin tuna …..

        • NEWS FLASH: ANIMALS THAT YOU EAT ARE FULL OF TURDS

      • yeah that farmed cat fish is everywhere now and under many different names …. supermarket freezers are full of the stuff.

I am surprised it is available on weekends. They are likely to be bombarded with busloads of Indians, Chinese and Middle East folk desperate for a bargain

Careful, some people here resentresemble that remark. :)

Irrespective of the price, this is a pretty average tasting meal. I certainly would not go out of my way to experience it.

OK so the website says after 11am AND weekends. Bonus!

I'm here now, and it came up at full price. I queried it, mentioned the web site. She called someone, and told me it doesn't start until tomorrow. I said the site doesn't say that. Anyway she says "oh marketing mistake" and charges me $2.99.

    Be prepared :)

Edit: Oh I see the thing at the top says from 26th. I should have mentioned I was an ozbargainer at the start.
