Why did this guy get downvoted? Well worth the extra dollar.

I hope Hungry Jerks actually fix up their nuggets, I find them to be too oily and gross

        • Yes but at least they use real chicken.

        • They have, new coating on the nuggies now. Much better

        • @AFA:

I've heard reports of new coffee, new chips and now new nuggets.

Is hjs giving their whole menu an overhaul or something? Because they've hit the nail on the head so far

      (starts crying)

To each their own but I think the stunner meal which is a cheeseburger, 3 nuggets, small chips, drink and mini cornetto for $5.95 is a bit better value for a meal

    • You can get it with a sundae instead and without their disgusting nuggets for $5.25

    • If I get that deal, I get the sundae instead

  • +9

    their nuggets are terribbbleeeee

      • +23

i reckon the new chips are better than the old ones

        • +1

can we at least agree that the chicken chips are better than their nuggets or their chips?

        • +1
        • @terminal2k:

have not tried - will confirm - give me till COB today.

        • I reckon the best would've been if they had the old style chips (French fries) with the new chicken seasoning. That would be gold

      • +2

the new chips are the best thing since sliced bread…
i was so pleasantly surprised, i bought everyone at my office a serve of $1 chips and it was unanimous.
This stuff is almost gourmet, better than some of the burger places, i.e. Grilled, imo.

This is WA btw, tried Perth city, canning vale and that new harrisdale outlet. Pretty consistent throughout.
The chicken chips are also the bomb.

Is it new management? I'm actually visiting HJs for a change now. (i've always only went to maccas, their burgers still float my boat)

    • Had HJ nuggets once. They were bitter. Don't want to know why. Won't ever buy their nuggets again.

      • +1

but the nuggets are better at Hungry Jack's unless its KFC

        • +1

I was hesitant to try the new nuggets after hearing they weren't very good from so many people. I was so pleasantly surprised when we picked up the Snack Pack. These nuggets were really, really good. MUCH better than my local (Minchinbury) Macca's and KFC nuggets. We've bought 4 10-packs from the voucher deals and each order has been tasty.

      Your face is terrible.

  • HJ's Greasy Snack Box

  • Yesssss the best nuggets. None of that dey flavourless crap from maccas.

    • it says better improved nuggets, crispier skin and 100% chicken breast. let's see how we go

      • Hopefully they didn't cut down the size like in their other promotions.

    • +2

kfc nuggets used to be the best, but the quality of the chicken has gone downhill big time.

The McDonald's nuggets are the best, but twice the price.

    • +2

I find they don't sell them often enough so they have often been sitting around for ages and aren't nice at all.

      • Yup. They're dry and bland without any sauces.

        • My last lot of HJ nuggets were soggy and rubbery….

  • Chicken nugger?

  • Is this snack box halal

  • +2

A better deal is the chicken Royale with small chips and coke in the vouchers for $3.95, then using the other coupon to upgrade to a large chips and coke (both coupons are on oz bargain, and expires end of November)

  • +1

their nuggets taste weird. a bit like those cheapo frozen nuggets you get from coles/woolies.

  • +1

I've tried 2 different types of nuggets from Hungry Jacks over the years and I haven't liked either of them. Have they changed the recipe or style in the last few years? I love the McDonalds nuggets.

  • +1

Yeah we have new nuggets, I'm gonna try them tonight. Our old ones weren't the best but each to their own.
Stores will use the new ones when the old runs out

    • So the tempura ones are gone?

      • Eventually. I'll suss

  • We had some nuggets from Hungry Jacks recently and they were terrible. No one would eat them so we threw them out. Surely they have food testers that would have told them that.

  • +1

I've been getting a Kg of frozen Maccas nuggets from their wholesaler for $7. Tastes the same and at half the price (obviously I have to cook them)

    • +2

Mind sharing us the maker or the maker's brand they sell to public?

    • +1

      how do we get some?

      • How did you get them brother? I need some so I don't need to waste for the nuggets deal.

        • inghams supplies the chicken for maccas nuggets, I suppose he's referring to buying Ingham nuggets.

  • So is everyone that is complaining about HJ nuggets talking about the old nuggets or the new nuggets?

    • When was the last change?

  • +2

Yeah new nugs are way better than the old 'rubber chicken' ones

    • Must have had the old ones…..soggy and rubbery.

      • they had the rubber ones during the 24 for $10 deal.
that was freakin horrid…but didn't stop me from finishing em all :(

        • Last lot I had was the 10 and chips for $4.95

Don't think it matters what deal you had, they were still rubbery…..but still finished them all.

  • So the old ones were made from the beaks these are from feathers? :)

I read this as "Cholestrol and future heart disease serving" for $3.95

Who am I kidding, I will be going soon to HJ to get my fix.

  • I reckon I'm gonna have to give up Hungry Jacks. I reckon their food and prices are better than McDonalds, but jeez they're letting their stores go to ruin to pay for it. 3 of the 4 stores I visited while on holidays the last few weeks had no icecream due to a broken machine, and each one of them was just looking grubby, with bored and frustrated staff. There's one particular store where there icecream and frozen coke machine is almost always broken. And what annoys me the most is they never tell you when you arrive, then let you order as though everything's ok, then wait a couple of minutes for the food, before coming out and telling you it's broken and they've included a substitute instead (e.g. a drumstick instead of a storm!). Then I stand there and watch them take more orders at the counter for storms or sundaes. Shocking customer experience.

    • Ours often has the 'being cleaned' excuse…..and mostly usually around lunchtime or dinner time.
I'm all for hygiene and cleanliness, but they should see about doing it at not the busiest times of the day. Itsvpften a regular occurrence

    • I'm not defending us but that ice cream machine is one of the most unreliable pieces of equipment in the store. We got a brand new one and it would've been out of order for a huge amount of time

      • Is there anywhere that does free drink refills still?

        • +1

They all do, ask the staff behind the counter and we'll refill your drink. If they say no then they're not following the rules

        • @Food:

Ahh I didn't realise it was still on! That's great, because the self serve machines went away so I thought hjs phased out the whole thing.
