Western Digital Passport 2.5" 1TB + Bonus Case $199 + $6.95 shipping @ DSE Online

120

My first post. :)
Not sure if this is a great deal or not. The next cheapest i could find was $219. I got one of these and I couldn't be happier with it. I might actually get another one from DSE.

hey, i'm "going easy" on your first post…so just a few tips:

-might want to add that it's a portable/ 2.5" drive in title (and add "DSE" as well…)
-and you should probably edit out the "take it easy" line in your description…seems like people get pretty annoyed at that line with 1st time posts, lol dunno why.

and just my 2 cents…$199 seems a bit pricey when you can get 750gb 2.5" for 129 these days….but if you need that 1TB in a portable drive i suppose this is probably the best price for now?

anyway, good work on putting up your 1st post on OzB

Cheers mate. I didn't indicate it is 2.5" as i thought that "passport" is just that considering there is no 3.5" passport version as far as i know, but good point just to make sure.
I know what you mean by being a bit expensive compared to 500GB or 750GB, but personally i prefer to pay a bit more for 1x 1TB drive rather than have 2x 500GB or 2x 750GB.
I'll leave 'take it easy' bit there. :)
Not sure why anyone would get annoyed about that.

Well being your first post , interesting how you ignore good advice.

Unless you know the WD range you wont know/care what passport means, your personal opinion does not usually make it a good deal although its a fair point.

        • Which bit did i ignore?
If its about 'take it easy' bit, then seriously, are some people so petty to actually complain about something as irrelevant as that?
I changed my title and added what he suggested. As i said in my reply, even though i thought passport was sufficient enough, he did make a good point and therefore i have edited it and as for my personal opinion, it was just that, my personal opinion, which by no means is an indication of a good deal. Whether it is a good deal or not, is for people to decide based on their needs and finances.

@allyemil: You are both right. stondewok did give some good advice and im glad you added what he suggested. Many people do not know the size just from the brand name.

If you think it is a good deal, then its likely that someone else will. No one here takes poll on others opinions before posting, all posts are personal opinions. Others who want a single 1TB 2.5" will agree that its a good bargain.

Also, saying 'take it easy' is fine. Personally, i find it unprofessional. People vote on the deal. If it is a bargain, then you have nothing to worry about.

As you are new to posting, there is no need to tell the community, to take it easy on you. Think about it how would you feel if at a party someone introduced themselves by saying “Hello I'm Fred, please be nice to me!”. Great way to start a relationship. Frankly its unnecessary, a good deal always gets good response. And if its not good, then you know right away.

That little 1 next to your name indicates it's your first post. No need to tell us.

Neg voting bitches, why neg vote a comment with nothing to back it up

Agreed. Anonymity drastically skews the voting on this. Either don't hide people who negatively vote on comments, or require them to respond to a comment before they can neg it.

  • Great find!!

  • Is this the external HDD with the crappy software on it that you cant delete?

    • Unfortunately: Yes

    • Smartware is easy enough to 'hide'. And doesn't really take much when you consider its in a 1gb hdd space.

  • price match wit OW, guys?

    • Don't think OW price match with the case.

  • Would this be considered a dupe? Only difference is the bonus case http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/26681

    • Very close, but I suppose the case is worth $40 - $7 delivery.

      • Fair enough.
