Not particularly great prices for TVs in this class, unless you really want these particular models for whatever reason.

Seems like a generic, nothing special JB-Hifi sale to me.

  • any one has KDL55W650D? review?
    bad review here

If you read the reviews, almost all TVs under 55" and/or FHD released this year in Australia are crap compared to previous years. Poor picture quality, motion, viewing angle, etc.

There are a couple decent FHD models still out there in the world but they aren't available here. As far as I can tell the only exception to this is LG's 55" FHD OLED 55EG910T.

Manufacturers are trying to get people to switch to larger UHD TVs by making their FHD and smaller sizes worse every year. In a nutshell, if you want to buy a decent TV now in Australia, you gotta get one at least 55" and UHD.

I meant professional reviews. I'm the first to admit that I'm picky when it comes to buying a TV though. Majority of people are still buying DVDs when blu-ray has been around for the last decade, so picture quality doesn't appear for be that important to the average consumer.

So don't get me wrong, this is still a bargain for most Ozbargainers. I just wanted to let people know who do care about picture quality; manufacturers have gimped their FHD and <55" UHD TV models this year. To the point where the models from last year actually perform better.

@Ryballs: Yeah no probs dude :)

I wont downvote to hurt anyones feeling. But I wouldn't pay more than $750 for this TV.

Previous gen, semi-smart, poor reviews. Better TVs out there for less.

        No apologies.

what other TVs would you recommend for size 40" around the same price or less then $700.

      • Is there anything decent with low input lag out there? Not really eager to go 4K since there isn't enough content right now to justify the early adoption, even if it only brings a $700 price to $1000. The 4K TV's will just get better and cheaper anyway.

Thats not a bad review - its average.

The KDL55W800C beats it hands down in everything except power consumption.

OZB has had it for < 1000 and Costco had it for $1030 a while ago. The UHD version has recently been as low as $1200. Based on that I wouldnt pay more than $750 for this TV.

Come on, man. You can't downvote because a different TV at some point was better value (but isn't right now).

        • @poxy001: It's got nothing to do with feelings - you compared one of the three TVs to a different TV (that appears to be discontinued? No-one has stock) and isn't currently cheaper than this one.

        • The W800C (120Hz) and the UHD version (60Hz) have been in the 1000-1295 price range recently.

        • +1

          @poxy001: You already said that.

They're not now. Which is a reason to comment and point this out and abstain from voting. It's not a reason to downvote. If you could link to a deal right now that's better than this one you'd have a reason to downvote. I didn't vote 'cause I don't think it's a good deal but I also can't point to a current better deal. On top of that you only addressed one of the three different TVs.

    2 HDMIs seems stingy

Agreed. Personally, I wouldn't consider buying a TV with less than 3 HDMI ports.

      • Personally I don't know why you would need 3 especially if the TV is smart, 1 for gaming console & 1 for recorder. I have a Wii U, Recorder & a Blu-ray home theatre using HDMI and only USE 1 to connect to the TV

  • The sony tv's seem to get worse every year !!
last year 100hz Full android smart. Metal frame (that sagged forward lol)
This year 50hz basic smart but more plastic than before :S I even comes with plastic handles to lift out of the box, Must be an old person feature ha.
