  • Good price, but FHD on 11" - get a magnifying glass too

thats weird, do you need it too for smartphones?

Do you use your phone about 2-3 feet away from you?

Also, Android and iOS understand and do dpi scaling well. Windows not so much… Programs will either look blurry and large, or crisp, but tiny.

          @NigelTufnel: this.

Also, swipe and touch against point and click on interfaces made specifying for its purpose.

It's easy to be a keyboard warrior without considering facts. Try using photoshop or illustrator, or even Microsoft Word or Excel on a touch-only interaction

          @steff:

He was referring to high DPI displays.

Used any of those programs on a higher resolution on a Microsoft surface? They work /scale flawlessly and DPI scaling with Windows 10 is miles ahead of what it used to be.

Old views and those people should stick to 1366x768 and let the rest of us enter the future. High DPI on laptops is awesome.

    • Can I ask for your opinion of the LG G4 and its 1440p screen?

      • Apples and oranges mate

        • Fair point. I'll take that.

  • Fantastic price, if I hadn't just purchased a Miix 700 I'd grab one of these.

    • I think Miix 700 is better…

  • old gen chipset, old gen CPU, old gen ram, old gen SSD. Have to think twice about buying old tech even though it was high end back then.

    • +10

We've reached a point in technology where the difference between this and a new laptop with the same specs, but newer parts, would be pretty negligible in day-to-day general use, yet same spec would be at least $500 more.

For a uni student etc, this would be more than enough, unless photo/video editing or gaming is required

i just checked and youre right, nearly every component is old, the cpu is nearly 4 years old dual core i7, thats ancient in cpu terms.

      • SO wasnt the 3rd gen CPU a dead giveaway ^^. But it has been sitting in a box for 3 years. Not good for the internals.

But ok price for a tablet + keyboard. But lots of bad feedback on the tablet

old gen chipset, old gen CPU, old gen ram, old gen SSD. Have to think twice about buying old tech even though it was high end back then.

Performance wise these are still very good, they were around $3000 when they came out. Sure they're not the latest processor or design but they are still completely useable.

  • I was about to buy this yesterday, but gave up the idea when I saw the old 3rd-gen CPU.

    • Read the post, mod edit was already there before you commented and reported…

      • Apologies SB, didnt realise they moved the posts 😕

        • Apology accepted, cheers :)

    • We are working on figuring out a better way of managing limited quantity deals like we did with targeted deals. We basically want deals to last enough time to OzBargainers to grab the bargain. So far, after 2 hours being posted, only 1 sold so safe to say this post is OK. Keep hitting the report button and we'll continue to look at each deal.

      • +1

Thanks neil. It would be useful if you add these updates to the announcements on the front page and/or newsletter. Otherwise we wont know of the changes. If theyre already being announced not sure how I missed it.

      • I think one solution for under 10 items is look at the aggregate savings obtainable by the ozbargain community from a deal. You would probably save several hundreds dollars per item. The total benefits would be over $1000

  • gee my desktop is core i7 FIRST generation…. i feel embarrassed.

    • +1

No, you are not as my desktop is dual core E8400. Still running pretty well with SSD and windows 7.

      • +1

2600k here :D still a beast lol and yes SSD, win 7, GTX980 and 16GB ram helps :)

        • +1

Why should you be shame for a beast of huge raw performance mate?

      • E8400 45nm CPU as well!!!! Bought in 2008, still going strong with my Ati 4850 Graphics card!

    • +1

I am still using an i5 lga1156 no issues speed wise but the board is playing up now.

    • +1

I'm still using a Core2Duo, running Windows XP hehe 10 years old

      • CoreDuo with Ubuntu

  • My i5 2nd gen runs about same as my 6th gen i5 …..pity they only had 7 for sale

  • +4

The issue with older cpus is more about battery life than it is about performance
