PlayStation Move Motion Controller (Preowned) $13 @ EB Games

440

Move controller required for the Playstation VR releasing on Thursday. If you were to find these new you would be out $120 for 2.
Still requires the camera but will be a big saving to anyone getting the VR.

  • Bought two more to add to the two I bought cheqp instore a few weeks ago. Much better than $120 per set for new ones. Thanks. By the way. They seem to be $13.50. Not a big difference. Also $7 postage to where I live for 2 in Surfers Paradise.

Good price to try but remember these are 6 years old and the battery will barely hold charge.

    • Only if they've actually been used a bunch - which I doubt.

      • +2

I have three of them new in box that don't hold a charge.

        • Mine too are the same. New in box, don't hold charge. I thought it was just something I was doing wrong with charging them.

      • +3

Li-ion batteries' ability to hold a charge can deteriorate simply from age, even with little/no use, which is why it's frequently recommended to only buy spare Li-ion batteries if they're for immediate use, since you're generally better off buying spares manufactured at a later date.

Furthermore, if the Playstation Move controller's standby power consumption is poor, it could also lead to over-discharge and under-voltage of the Li-ion batteries while in storage, which further damages the batteries' ability to hold a charge.

PSP batteries bulge dangerously after 5 years of non-use. I deep-cycle everything Sony every year. Nintendo DS do not seem to have the same problem of self discharge as Sony items.

        • +2

i found that out. have a couple of psp batteries with bulges including the extra capacity one.

  • I still have two but might grab a couple more so i get to play nikudan on my ps3 without needing to re-pair them back to my ps4 all the time.

Wow, not like eb to not gouge! I haven't seen these less than $15 on gumtree!

I remember when Read Dead Redemption got backwards compatibility, prices doubled at EB. Lucky I gragged one beforehand.

  • Can't believe they're selling them new now for $120. :(

    • Yes. Amazon Europe were selling these for $6. In OzBargain fashion I bought 3 just in case of I don't know what.

Lol got one from DSE closing down sale for $5 and thought one day kids might use it.

      or the wife…

      • +8

        Don't think it vibrates

    • +1

Best bargain I found was the move charging dock from DSE long before they were in trouble for the princely sum of $0.98. Stupid me put it in a box of parts and the otherwise beautiful piece is now all scratched up, my OCD side won't let me forget about it

  • Also the camera is going for $58 in this sale if you can find one online - preowned.

  • +1

Doesn't look like you can get them delivered any more. Only in-store pickup available. Still a good buy for $13.50
Also, you can get replacement batteries for around $24 on eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/p/quality-battery-for-ce-rohs-sony-li…)

this looks like something hitachi would make

  • No stock in Melbourne?

  • Seems to be out of stock everywhere, managed to nab one from a Sydney store but no reading out of stock in every store

EB are now cancelling my order for pickup from Warringah Mall :( very annoying as really need two for my VR tomorrow and don't want to pay 120!!

    • +1

yep just got one of my two cancelled this morning too :( very annoying indeed

      • I guess maybe worth checking in store still? Anyone know how accurate their stock levels are online?

    • +2

My in-store pickup order got cancelled as well, but upon checking a bit later in the morning I saw that the option to convert it to a warehouse delivery order became available. So now it is being shipped to me for free.

  • Those who have extra and don't need it.. Sell it at au.webuy.com
They are giving cash 29$ or voucher 37$

    Enjoy!

    • Don't encourage the scabs!

  • Looks like a vibrator

    Will they work on PS4?

  • I have a Move starter disc if anyone is missing the disc and wants a free disc.

  • Hello,

Thanks for pointing out possible battery issues!

Is the battery easy to change?

  • I got a ps3 game where theres a playstation eye and the game is a pets game like a baby monkey thing in the box. is there the ps camera needed for PSVR?

    • The camera required for PSVR is the PS4 Camera, not the PS3 one. So no, the one in that pack won't work.

  • Damnn…Only brought one controller… does it work with one controller? lol

  • i don't think i would like to buy something shaped like that 2nd hand lol, never know where its been…

  • +2

my mum has one of these in her room, huh

  • "We couldn't find the page your looking for"

  • are the controllers the same and dos the PS3 cameras work ?

    • +1

Same controllers and no camera will not work. Needs a PS4 camera

  • Don't know why this is now marked expired as is reading back in stock online and instore!

    • Report it. Before I was receiving we can't display this page

      • Not sure how to do that but it's now out of stock again for delivery so probably not worth resurrecting.

    • Yeah was lucky enough to see that too!

  • Will it include headphone jack?

    • No, But you'd have to plug your headphones into the controller.. or maybe the VR headset has one.

      • Correct the VR headset has its own headphone jack so no need for one on the moves.

So a word of caution with Move controllers. It may be a case of "use em or lose em". I originally bought 2 way back with my PS3. Played games, all good, then stopped playing. Went to play again and both controllers LEDs wouldn't work (The controller tracking, the XO buttons, the T button, the Playstation button all work fine).

So I bought 2 more Move controllers and again, worked completely perfectly until I stopped playing. I now own a PS4 Pro and PSVR. Dug out my Move controllers and AGAIN same problem - the LEDs don't work.

They are charged (tested with multimeter), they have been reset, and they function in all other aspects. It's just the LEDs do not work. So I'm now forced to buy YET ANOTHER 2 controllers, whilst I have 4 controllers sitting here in "all but" working state.

I've recently written to Sony about this, but I'd advise people to routinely turn on their Move Controllers, make sure they're functioning, and recharge them. It seems if the battery fully discharges (extended non-use) then it appears to destroy the LED.
