Shoplifting in Brisbane. Need feedback

Hi! I'm John, a journalism student from the University of Queensland. As said in the title, I am doing a story on shoplifting in brisbane.

If anyone had worked/ is currently working in Coles, Woolworths or Aldi- please send me a message.
If you ever shoplifted groceries, I would also like to hear your side of the story.

If people would like to remain anonymous for certain reasons, I can respect that. :)

    Nice try Queensland Police Service

Just relieved you aren't looking for advice!

    • +2

that would be so shady. Cheers mate!

  • +2

    why just Brisbane?

    • +1

I thought brisbane was enough. Reporting on australia or queensland would be a different story with the sheer size alone.

      • +2

just thought seeing coles woolies etc is national it wouldnt matter seeing their sores are all the same,

        • +1

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the input! :)

        • @Gaeb:
          stores not sores :)

        • +1

          @PVA: depends on the suburb

should turn on your messages (settings—>messages—>Allow private messages)

    • +1

      Oh. Already did. Thanks, mate!

  • +17

I don't know of anyone strong enough to lift shops?!?!

    • +3

I'd do it… but that's too mainstream for me

      puffs from his vape

      • +4

This reminds me of a joke:

"A magician walks down a street and turns in to a grocery store"

    • +3

      Do you even lift bro.

  • +13

Why don't you shoplift and use that for your report? :P

    • +4

      I second this…

I dare the OP to go around dealerships and try and steal, I dunno, a suzuki swift or something ;)

    • +1

Don't want to be deported or sent to prison tho xD

      • +4

Would make a great thesis if you were!

        • +1

Haha! Will keep that in mind just in case! :)

      • +1

Well if you went to prison you could report on skirtlifting…

        • +1

Pretty sure that is something that happens outside of prison. Prisoners wear jumpsuits right, or are you talking about skirting boards?

        • @mnermner: I meant they would be some bodies bitch, hence lifting of the skirt. 😋

        • @mnermner:

          Green trqckies and jumper.

          Nsw.

Once on here someone worked out if you buy 2 grapes at a time with cash they work out to be free

    • +1

      Interesting!

    • +3

      JV ?

      • +6

More like tightarse, he fits the bill ; )

        I did this with prawns.
        Got away with it once.
All the other times; the Deli-chicks either laugh, tell me to Foff, or charge me $0.05
        Savages

        • +2

Let's play charades the deli staff say….
          2 words.
          2nd word sounds like cough……….

        • More like tightarse, he fits the bill ; )

          And the plot thickens

    • impossible value would be a minimum of 5c

well if this is the case id be shocked.

  • Who would admit to being a criminal?!
Turn them over to the local authorities immediately!

I have always found shops too heavy to lift.

  • +2

Will your story be published online?

    • Hmm.. depends on the professor. Right now, we're just pitching the story piece

  • I only lift eneloops

    • +1

      What?

  • +2

Here is kind of a riddle:

Over many years I've left supermarkets without paying for heaps of stuff … but I didn't steal any of it.

The self check out registers make this harder to do but now I just buy those things online and have them delivered because I'm too lazy to go to the shops for them.

  • +1

    ah, shoplifting.

    The original oz bargain tool.

    Shoplifting in Brisbane. Need feedback

Sorry mate, never done it in Brisbane.

  • +12

i worked in woodridge coles. we got suspicious when people actually paid for stuff, as they must have just held up a bank or done a drug deal.

  • -1

Get in contact with someone name Broden.

    • What did broden shoplift?

  • anyone using self checkout steals, its a fact

    • +7

Maybe next time you go through one you could steal a capital letter, a hyphen, a semi-colon, an apostrophe and a full stop.

  • I once rubbed off a man, but never robbed a man.

  • Does wandering around the aisles surreptitiously sampling the goods count?

  • damn i remember when i work at dollar shop….
the manager will train us to identify what kind of ppl will shoplift…..
    almost happening every 2 or 3 days….
