Hello OzBargainers!

I've been trying my best to bring you the cheapest prices on Xiaomi products from the most reliable supplier I could find, as an Australian consumer.
I've tested them all multiple times as a normal customer because I'm quite the tech-junkie and iBuyGou honestly had the best customer service of the lot - I don't want to get into too much detail or badmouth any of the other suppliers here but trust me these guys were the most accommodating to the customer from my personal experience and had by far the best shipping (3-6 days expedited with DHL).
Just thought I'd also mention that I don't actually work for these guys (I really am just a normal Sydneysider) but I've built a good relationship with them and I'm just looking to spread the love. Previously these guys had a reputation for having first class customer service, but higher prices - I'm trying to change that and bring them to a more competitive level for the OzBargain community; all of these deals are OzBargain exclusives, so feel free to leave feedback.
I'll be posting a couple of deals over the next few days so keep a look out for them! :)

All Xiaomi phones come with 1 year warranty standard, but you can also purchase an extra year for $5 USD (~AU$6.60).

  • Thanks for the post OP, any deal for Xiaomi Redmi NOTE 3 / NOTE 4 with B28 ?

    • +4

I don't think they currently have stock of the special edition variant with B28, but I'll double check for you.

      • Thank you a lot!

      • Will you have any deals on the Redmi 3S Prime coming up :))

  • can someone advise if this phone will work with Optus 4G ?

and any review about camera quality specially in low light ?

    • +3

It will work with optus 4G but it doesn't support Band 28 (700Mhz), so you wont get full support of 4Gx. I'm currently using a phone that doesn't support B28 myself and I don't have any issues with 4G internet (I live in Sydney) I hear it is more important in rural areas though.

    • +1

I'm on Optus and using the Xiaomi note pro. Great phone but no band 28. It's not bad in Melbourne where I get 4g everywhere and some places 4g+.

Unfortunately I live in country Vic and most of the time it's on 3g or h+ at home I get 4g in places. Speeds are no where near my past lg g4 which had band 28.

The g4 used to get 15mbs using speed test where I live and over 30mbs in Melbourne areas.

I'm not too fussed as I have wifi both at home and work but sometimes if I'm out it sucks.

  • Are you sure these are dual camera versions ? In pics theres is only one at the back .

    • I'm not too sure actually - I was just posting the info I've been handed on the phone itself. I did a bit of digging online and it looks like it was originally supposed to come with dual camera but was dropped off the final release. I'll update the ad accordingly.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

    • Only Note Pro has dual cameras as far as I know…

  • not better than note 3 snapdragon

  • +3

Does this have the exploding battery feature that is popular in Samsung phones?

    • +3

Lol, no - not that I'm aware of and I can't find any mention of this online..
This issue seems to be unique to Samsung and Apple ;)

    • +14

This is a budget phone, you don't get premium features like that for this price!

      • Chinese web site reported two cases in September and Redmi is the main concern. You don't see it in media because this kind of phones are for China market only.

  • Wow great deal and tempting even though already bought a Redmi Note 3 last month !

    • +2

Well, this phone is meant to live side-by-side with the Redmi Note 3, so it's not exactly an upgrade. I read that somewhere. I'll post the link if I find it.

      • Yeah I have seen that in video reviews too. Been impressed with xiaomi so just more of a fangirling moment

  • Cheers OP! Very nice phone indeed, have had this is as a backup phone for my 6P and no problems yet :)

  • If you want to install custom ROMs, then obviously the note 4 isn't a good choice. If you are happy to live with miui, then the note 4 seems to be better in some areas than the note 3, such as build and screen but its still more of a side grade. So many will still prefer the 3.

    • +1

Yup. I read about the sidegrade thing. I love my Redmi Note 3. I love how it doesn't explode in my pants too. Not yet, anyway.

  • +1

Rep, why do you have Sydney in your username?

    • Because he lives in Sydney….
      " …4G internet (I live in Sydney) I hear it is more…"

      • If so, can the buyer send it back to Sydney for repair?

        • No sorry, as I mentioned in the original post, I don't actually work for the company - I'm just trying to pass on some good deals to the community because I found these guys much much better than other suppliers and others should know about them too - not every purchase on a Chinese phone needs to be a gamble ;)

  • Not really a deal as the Note 4 could be had for cheaper and the price posted is only few dollars less than what you could get normally. I got the Redmi Note 4 64GB for $US199 from the official Aliexpress Xiaomi Store with a screen protector included. I ordered when Cashrewards was giving 10% cashback on Aliexpress purchases last week, so effectively it was only $US179.1. No deal for me.

    • also it comes with official global MIUI 8 rom, what's the ROM on this Note 4?

      • Please note that the store youve mentionee on aliexpress isn't actually an official store.. Many suppliers of xiaomi claim to be an official store but aren't found in the official suppliers list on xiaomi's global site.
Yes it comes with the official global ROM.

        • official suppliers list on xiaomi's global site.

Do you have a link where I can verify iBuyGou is one of Xiaomi's authorized supplier?

        • @PW:
I never claimed they were an official supplier… None of the official suppliers ship to Australia - all suppliers who ship to Australia are grey market resellers.

        • @PW:

Do you have a link where I can verify iBuyGou is one of Xiaomi's authorized supplier?

No one who delivers Xiaomi products to Australia is an authorized supplier. It's as simple as that.

          EDIT: Beaten by 10 seconds.

        • +2

Okay good to know, so essentially iBuyGou and them are no different in other words, both grey imports? That means we are comparing apples with apples product wise correct?

Then your price is not any better compared to other sellers. Could you please explain again why this is a good deal? Based on your opinion, this is a good company to deal with? Is that your sales pitch?

In my opinion, this post is nothing more than an advertising for the company, and should be taken down. This site is ozbargains, not companyreviews.

        • @assailantsky: you're entitled to your opinion and others are entitled to their own.. You don't think its a good deal because you would prefer to purchase from a company that uses false advertisement (who knows what else theyre doing dodgy) whilst others prefer a company who has real face value. To some this is clearly a good deal.. To get a price on par with the dodgey companies but from a company with real customer service? IMO that's the real bargain here..
Please stop flaming for no reason..

        • @IBG-Sydney: please also note I don't really care if you try to get this taken down… You're only letting down the ozbargain community because at the end of the day, I'm not getting anything out of this post.. I'm just trying to spread some love

        • @IBG-Sydney: My apologies if you thought I was flaming and for no reason.

I wasn't flaming YOU and I explained my reasons why this is not a deal. We can both agree to disagree.

  • Being a budget phone, does it come with lots of intrusive ads?

    • +1

No, it comes with the official ROM so no 3rd party ads imbedded in the ROM (many other suppliers use a custom ROM packed with ads, malware and glitches)

    • I've never seen anything major to complain about if you use the global miui rom. I would always flash to the global rom after getting the phone. Guides are online and the roms can be found here: http://en.miui.com/download.html

It can be a bit of a hassle flashing the global rom, but once done you get ota updates as they are released. There's a couple of built in useless apps that you'll never use like on many Android skins. MIUI always seems to runs silky smooth and I just love how it keeps things simple like iOS (but with theming and freedom of Android), and you get regular updates unlike other Android OEMs. The downside to these phones is mainly the poor camera. Hoping that Xiaomi can really up their game in this respect and have a decent camera in their mid range phones next generation.

      • Ibuygou supplies it with the official global ROM and you can get OTA updates out of the box - though there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself again if you don't trust this for some reason

        • Well thats fantastic, I have used vendor rom before and it wouldn't get ota updates. It's great you supply the official rom.

These are much better than the out of date, official roms.

Every week, they customize the latest Chinese rom to be suitable for non-Chinese use.

        • Yeah I'm on the developers rom too. Get weekly ota update. :)

        • +1

          @Ronnnie:
Yeah the developer ROMs are pretty good but you do get glitches every so often because at the end of the day you are the guinea pigs for their new software releases haha

        • @IBG-Sydney:

Yeah that's true, not for everyone. I like weekly updates though. :)

  • +1

How does the Helio X20 compare to the Snapdragons ?

    • +3

It's simple. Close your eyes and imagine, who would win, 20 helicopters or a dragon.

      • How big is the dragon? ;)

  • imho REDMI PRO is a better buy
    Dual Cameras
    Faster CPU x25 helios
More storage for the money (64Gb)
    5.5" vibrant oled screen
    has micro sd
    $209 - 7% Cashback

Sorry USD It cost me 278.88AU on my suncorp debit better if you use 28Degrees

    • +1

I second that. My order from eglobal on the 11 the got delivered today. 312 express delivery not too bad. Clean rom and excellent quality

  • My question is does it have any chinese program's on it.

    • Not that I'm aware of - in the official global rom (which this ships with) all of the chinese apps should have been replaced by their google counterparts.

  • Any deals on the Xiaomi Redmi 3s or any deals in the works for this phone?
