Men, What Shampoo/Conditioner Do You Use?

I'm a dude. I use homebrand soap. It does the job and smells nice enough, but not too much.

My wife uses some fancy Shampoo (Probably made by the Kardashian's) with more fruit than a fruit market and enough oils to fuel a small country. Not to mention it costs an arm and a leg.

So lads. What Shampoo and conditioner do you use. Overall, I'd like it to be relatively cheap. I don't mind the smell as long as I don't become the office air-freshener.

  • I bought my partner 1kg Redken shampoo and conditioner bottles from COTD when they were 40% off, "clean brew" scented. Smells great and it stopped his scalp getting irritated from the crappy bottom shelf stuff that was in the bathroom before.

I have very sensitive skin. I use the Organic Care products, available from Woolies. Nice and cheap, and no nasty chemicals. Recommend.

      • One for organic care… cheap and also no SLS or parabens. Lasts me ages too.
  • Mate, I have tried quite a few and nothing beats Paul Mitchell's Tea tree shampoo. The mint also gives a revitalising feeling. You won't regret it and it's heaps cheaper than a few years ago.

I only use real poo for my hair. Sham poo is not for real men.

    • +1

      Poo humor. Nice.

      • lol

      • Really? I thought that joke was a little crap.

  • +1

Organic care when it goes half price. Cheap and cleans better than the expensive brands. Smells good too

  • Garnier, sometimes head and shoulders. Doesn't really bother me as long as my hair is clean and not looking like an oily batch of fries. Hardly ever use conditioners.

  • +1

I have been using sulphate free shampoo for couple of years, and I have to say it is really good. Hair feels thicker, and I definitely have less hair falling out. I use the Kirkland one at Costco, the purple pump bottle. Bit expensive, but it has helped my hair stay on my head longer. I don't use conditioner, I just rinse thoroughly. ph of my head is auto neutralising and don't need help from acidic conditioners.

  • Nizoral 1% twice week and head & shoulder shampoo and conditioner on other days

  • QV Sport 3-in-1.

    • I use Nivea 3-in-1. So good just one thing to use instead of shampoo+soap scum.

  • Tresemme, it's always on sale at Coles.

I wash and condition my hair everyday, have done all my life.

  • +1

I use olive oil once a month

  • As shampoo
"Nature's Gate, Herbal Daily Cleanse Shampoo" on Mon
"Tresemme Perfctly Undone Conditioner" on Wed-Fri

    As conditioner
"Tresemme Botanique Conditioner Restore & Shine" Mon-Wed-Fri

    As deep conditioning
"SheaMoisture's Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque" on Sun (shit is expensive yo)

Reasons of the above are a little bit complicated, but otherwise my hair has never been better, looks and feels great!
Luckily Tresemme goes on sale every so often

It used to be whatever the Mrs used but now that she's not here, whatever free full-size sample available from work. No idea why we get free shampoo and conditioner from work though. The organisation does have a pharma R&D branch: maybe we're being used as guinea pigs? O.o

Waste disposal from the biological weapons division. By bottling it and giving it to employees as shampoo it gets around epa regulations

        JJB works for Umbrella?

        • He's a scientist. Pretty hard to be a scientist and not work for an evil corporation. Even the CSIRO was originally founded with the aim of poking out the left eyes of orphaned children (thank god they moved on from that, isn't it. Huge waste of taxpayer funds. Just give them access to bottle rockets and they'll do it themselves)

But hey, free shampoo. They may be evil, but its hard to argue with the perks.

        • @outlander:

But hey, free shampoo. They may be evil, but its hard to argue with the perks.

Free shampoo and free chuckle every time you use it : the shampoo is called Divacurl low-poo :)

  • whatever is on half price at Woolis or Coles

  • Shampoo? Thats for cyka gopnik. Real men have bald hair and wash them once a year with baking bg soda or acid.

    • +2

Is it possible to have bald hair? Seems like a contradiction.

      • +1

        Does your hair have hair?

Mine doesn't; I have bald hair.

        • What I mean is to polish the baldiness of the fore skin so it's shiny , wuuhhuuuu…. crystal ball, tell me who will lead to WW III faster , clinton or trump?

        • @rodinthink:
clinton. After trump is elected, his insane management brings the world to the brink of war, which causes everyone to take the election process much more seriously to prevent the catastrophe from ever happening again.

    L'Oreal, because I'm worth it!

  • JOHNSON’S® baby Conditioning Shampoo

What is this shampoo/conditioner that you speak off

  • +1

T-Gel for me - though after reading the comments here, might give the American Crew a try

Real men use 100% pure refined brake fluid

  • +2

Men shampoo are useless marketing shit. I have used them and they don't do anything special to your hair. Use the stuff already their in the bathroom.
Secondly Sunsilk brand I can see is still Australian made and the one for dry hair ( yes you put it in wet hair) is pretty good.

  • Natures Organics Organic Care ScalpCare. Cheaper and less harsh than Head and Shoulders. I don't buy into the "natural organic" woo but it does the job at the right price.

  • +2

I haven't used shampoo or conditioner for three years. You need to wash your hair and massage your scalp with water everyday. My hair was a bit crazy for a couple of weeks but then settled down. There is no bad smell and my hair feels soft and has good body (according to my wife). https://www.nopoomethod.com

    • Wow. didn't know that. Does it really work. I am sure head will start stinking unless you are using some natural cleansers. Also what do you use for your skin during bath?

      • I use soap for bits and pieces but don't wash all of my skin with soap unless it is stained or ground in dirt. I should emphasis washing with water every day. Otherwise it will get out of control.

        • Dove for skin every other day sounds fine? My hairs are pretty dry and in case I put oil or gel, it becomes hard not to wash it regularly. Though if I keep hair without hair for more than 4-5 hours, they have natural oil. But those initial 4-5 hours are ugly.

    • Do you use warm water while cleaning your hair? Eventually, I've to clean my hair twice to eliminate oil

  • I buy whatever's on half price at the supermarkets and use the stuff from hotels. I also use conditioner as well. Either the shampoo or conditioner has to be head and shoulders to prevent dandruff.

I only was my hair once every three days (but I still rinse it everyday). It's not frizzy, greasy, itchy or flaky compared to when I wash it everyday.

Btw I have a #samurai man bun. Oh the horror :P

  • Dove mens shampoo with caffeine and menthol.

That crap really cleans the hair and facial hair too.

  • +1

Big pinch of bicarb soda with cup of water rubbed through my scalp. Then rinsed thoroughly. Then finally splash of vinegar and cup of water rinsed through hair. Rinse and done.

  • Has to be "Not Tested on Animals", usually they organic, so bit dear
As you don't want to spend arm on leg on quality shampoos, I remember few friends use to use Trader's joe was about $10/lit then ( in North Americas), still cruelty free.
here is the Amazon listing but is dear
    https://www.amazon.com/Trader-Joes-Formula-Shampoo-Condition…
    Hope costco have them ?

I love animals and supporter of various animal organisations, no shape or form I am endorsing on you, everyone is different, what ever works best on you, could be homebrand or Acqua Di Parma.

Also for while meant to call this company called "ENYA" soapfree products comes in 1/2 lit from chemist warehouse, to see if they are cruelty free. they are very cheap . around 3 bucks/lit
Catch of day will sometime sell $70 shampoo for $10, which is a steal.

The ORIGINAL horse to human crossover shampoo that helps promote fuller, stronger, flowing manes and tails on show horses, people continue to discover this hair care solution for themselves.

tested on animals. so you know it's good.

  • I warsh my back with a rag on a stick.

  • I use whatever I don't feel the need to buy "dude" shampoo.

  • Homemade bar soap

    • LOL, due to avoid allergic, several person have to use as the same "cleaner" as their body use

  • Original source shower gel lol, who buys 2 products to clean one body…

  • I use enya for conditioner and Schwarzkopf for shampoo. Infact, buy anything that's cheap. I had tried the shampoo from Aldi but the shampoo is too watery, not good enough for me

  • What ever Colesworth has at half price.
Will buy about 4 bottles and it last me months, if I see more at 50% I will buy more.

  • +3

I just use hot water. Havent used shampoo in about 7 years.

  • Woolworths make an "Everyday 2 in 1" shampoo which is about $1.99 from memory. Have been using it for the past few years with no issue.

  • I am using alpecin to thicken my hair and rejuvenate it. I am using it for about 8 months and I am happy with the outcome. and I am also using neutrogena tgel for dandruff.

  • The missus conditioner and dollar shave club razors. Who needs hair.

  • +1

Organic Care anti-dandruff shampoo as it's usually at a good price as I never buy expensive shampoo. I also use Redkins coal tar shampoo once a fortnight as it's good for the scalp but I only ever buy it on special. Both are made in Australia. I only use conditioner once every couple of months. I also use Woolworths branded soap as it's usually the cheapest.

    Grout.

Have been using Pledge spray for sometime. Degrease and shinny after polish.

  • Been using these methods for years, have had heaps of salon's comment on how great and healthy my hair is. Instant results too, start off with Meguiar's Ultimate Wash and Wax, ease you war in as it works a treat and then the other part is what you eat makes a difference to the quality of your hair, so I like to keep it simple by adding Pedigree to the diet. Keeps the hair nice and shiny and has real meat pieces.

This. I almost never use shampoo. Rinse, run a comb though it and that's it. As the article says, you get a nice balance after a week (for me). I had to shampoo once last year to get bird poop off but that's about it. $$$ saved, less scum in the shower and no chemicals leaching into my scalp.

I wash my hair with Valvoline cause John Laws still has hair

  • Herbal essenses

  • I use prelll! The hard stuff! (Apologies if jokes already been done)

  • My hair gets washed every 6 months by my hair dresser.. so whatever she uses

  • Whatever name brand is half price.

  • I use QV hair gentle shampoo as my doctor recommended me that. It's soap free and gentle on your scalp. Give it a try. You can pair it up with qv gentle conditioner as well if wanted!

  • What ever has the lowest unit pricing on the shelf.

  • Sunsilk Mens Detox for Men Shampoo. It's good for getting grit out of your hair, but it's also pretty mild, so you can use it in the morning and at night It's only like $3.50 - $4 when it's half price.

  • Timotei. So mild you can wash your hair as often as you like.

  • Morning Fresh

  • To the guys who are using your wife's/girlfriend's shampoo:

    Does your hair do this?

  • Like this comment if you're reading this in 2018

  • as personal experience, the shampoo needs alternatievly using the different brands in order to have deep-washing" of the hair, which is an option about the using-strategy from a friend who is selling a global famous brand shampoo products.

  • I just use whatever is in the bathroom provided by my wife.
