A-Power 5m Network Cable Cat6e ONLY $4.00! Oh and The MSY Store Is Now Online!

5416

Hey Guys,

Wow, what can i say, A-Power 5m Network Cable Cat6e and only $4.00!!!

Amazing

I understand it's not exactly a bargain per say, but definately good for everyone out there who likes MSY but sometimes can't find exactly what you want in stock. From what i gather, you can reserve stock at your chosen msy store .. That's pretty good!

RJ

P.S Some people are saying this isn't a bargain, rather advertising - i am in no way affiliated with MSY just thought you would all like to know as this will definately help me in the future.

I am happy for mods to move if it's deemed to be not a proper bargain.

P.S.S I linked it to the IP as i have heard some people from whirlpool are experiencing DNS errors (This includes myself) , the proper link is this: http://www.msy.com.au/ then just click on online store.

  • Cool, and about time too. Too bad it's only for Victoria at the moment, maybe you can put that in the title. Website is easier to navigate now.

    • Incorrect. Victoria is the default. You need to pick a state, then the branch you wish to pickup your order from. Then you can fill your shopping cart with products you wish to pickup from your chosen store.

Good that they have stock availability as well listed on the web site. Although I have to agree with evolution-flip this is more of an advertisment than a bargain.

      • Yea, my bad, I just saw Vic so i assumed it was just them.

  • I think they have a long way to go… but thanks for the link :)

  • Is it really only for Victoria? I went into a Queensland store with no hassles.

  • Glad to see MSY is finally getting along with it, but why is it an IP only?

  • +3

Although thanks for posting this, but is this really a bargain? I don't think it should be here on OzBargain. It is as good as advertising.

    • +3

I didn't see the entire listing before, but the title before was simply "MSY Store now online", nothing about the cable price, (which is stupid and only here to adhere to the listing rules and get around the spam rule to advertise MSY's new website)

      • cmon lazed,

Just having some fun with djones145's comment.

Like i said, i'm not advertising, Ozbargain has helped me get some good deals and has also made me get things easier and quicker, i just wanted to return the favour.

        • Ozbargain isn't here to advertise the launch of new company websites. That's called advertising or SPAM. We are all well aware of MSY. If you liked Ozbargain so much you'd follow its rules and would have put your original listing in the forums.

  • +4

    This belongs in the forum!!!

  • NSW no problem! you have to click on map to pick your state-i hope there's express pickup too, no more waiting in queues for hours for just one item!

  • +1

I decided that it was slightly a bargain as when i built my computer with them, i walked into the store and they kept sayig "sorry we don't have that model" etc so that's my reasoning …

  • +1

Finally msy got their act together and created a proper online shop not the usual pdf !!

  • +2

Finally yes, but lets face it, its one crappy site!!!

  • +2

if you had found a bargain and posted it at the same time
    it might have been ok

    just link anything
    everything is cheap lol

  • +1 for the lols

  • Anyone have problems with the tabs on the left-hand side? I can't view all the cases at once, only works when I chose a specific brand such as Asus or Thermaltake.

    • Yeah it looks like one of their stupid design choices… hopefully it is not in the final version of the site.

  • I think this is a worth wile post, I liked MSY but never knew why they used such a crap site, I thought it was maybe to keep costs down, wondering if this new site will mean the prices will go up???

I am excited though, finally a web site I can find stuff on, no more sending emails asking for stock, Bravo.

    • Tell me about it.
Most times they didn't respond and in the rare occasions they did, I had to spend minutes decrypting it.

  • Dodgy title change? How do I vote neg twice? I appreciate the effort to tell everyone about the online shop, but how is this anything but a forum topic?

    • +1

Surprised the mods are not taking it down.

  • Heh, nothing has changed with MSY.

Click on CPUs -> AMD -> All not in stock.

Only now I don't have to wait in line to be told nothing is in stock :)

edit: Actually that's a bit harsh. They have a couple in, so it's not all bad I suppose.

  • +4

LOL @ the fact its IP only….

oh and its painfully slow, just like the real thing!

    • FAIL at the ip only.. haha

  • wow, their site is a huge improvement over the old lol. the previous site looked like some kid did it in word..

    • +2

Kids can do a better job. More like a work of an mentally challenged.

  • Not convinced that this store is really meant for release. The idea seems to work well but it needs some polishing (ie Monitors need to be able to be sorted by size etc)

In any case I can only access it via the IP address, I can't see this mysterious "online store" link the OP mentioned should be on the main page?
Ah well it will be a good Beta Test in any case :P

    • there is a link on the main msy page, but they havent got the html linked correctly

      • where is it exactly? top left, bottom right?

        • link has disappeared. There was a huge image the size of the msy logo in the centre. It looks like its been taken down, no google cache either

    • Agreed. The way things are arranged is less than optimal.

I tried looking up microSD cards.
      1. Store
      2. Flash Memory - Pen, SD, CF, MS
      3. Choose what brand ???
      4. Search through all products for that brand to see if there is a microSD card and if so, if there is one that matches what I want???

  • +1

+1 for the effort but yes a long way to go

  • +1

Wow they finally got online. Well at least they managed to get rid of that horrid layout.

  • +3

    advertising.

  • -1

its a plus for me its really a bargain seeing everyone can now buy online rather than others who wants it but cant get it.

my concern is really is the stock level actually accurate? as we all know…msy is famous for cheap price also NO STOCK heheee

RJE91 linked the IP as 203.26.98.51

    Why is it different?

    • Beats me why RJE91 did it. I've changed the link to MSY.com.au/products.aspx

      • Uhm the IP address link worked, the current one doesn't work for me… can you put the IP address one back for the rest of us…

      • I read on whirlpool that's a way to get around the DNS problem i was having, if i went to the url you just referred to, i didnt see the online store link.

    • +1

203.26.98.10 and 203.26.98.3 are nameserver IP addresses. 203.26.98.51 is the webserver address. Go wikipedia DNS systems and you'll understand.

MSY sucks (at least the NSW Auburn one does).

The only good thing about MSY was that they used to have the majority of what was on their price list in stock, you could walk in and walk out with what you want. There are plenty of stores with the same level of prices so price was never a factor. Service was always nonexistant, good luck getting warranty or a RMA.

Nowadays you walk in with a list of 10 fairly mainstream things and you might get 1 or 2. Wait half an hour to an hour in their queue while customers who don't know much about computers gets sold junk they are trying to clear.

Then you notice that their stock list is computerised. So why don't they integrate that into their website and save their customers a lot of time and travel? I'd say a combination of laziness/cheapness and hoping to get customers in there so they can sell you some junk.

    • Sounds like they have their business model locked down tight!.

Reading your description brought back memories of my local MSY. The only PC shop that trumps MSY for warranty issues is Gamedud.

  • That site looks suspicious, there is no link to it at all from the msy.com.au site. I would avoid creating an account or entering personal details until it is actually liked to directly from MSY.

    • you can go to msy.com.au and …

I think it's the second banner from the top, in the centre.
Green box on the left says "Live Now". Blue section next to it talks about this being where you can view live stock levels etc.
You can click on that banner and be taken to a map, where you choose the site, then the store.

Then you will arrive at the shop.

I must be blind, I still don't see it lol.

    crap shop spam

    booo msy

the mods should explain how this is even a bargain.

    • as soon as scotty comes online, he can move it across to the forums. The other mods dont have the ability to do it.

  • agree with antman76, what the h*ll is goin on here? boooo

    1. Low price doesn't always constitute a bargain. If it's available at $4 before, and it always $4 in the future, well, it's advertising :P

    2. Get a REP status. It saves you from troll and flames. The overusage of marketing wording are just too obvious for an "average" user posting :P

    3. Web Layout. Are we suppose to wear 3D glass to read it? :P

    • have you even heard of MSY? If you had, you wouldn't be surprised.

  • spam

  • Ozbargain is for BARGAINS not adverts

  • Its all been said before. Good luck with MSY. Your better of paying literally a few dollars more and not having to deal with the pathetic service.

  • -1

Now the lines at MSY will be heaps long now.

    • Much shorter you mean. You can check if the item is out of stock or not, meaning no more wasted trips to MSY.

      • No you will have more noobs going there now. Asking for technical advice on what is the difference between a i7 CPU and i5 CPU.

  • +1

The new web site actually looks decent. Well done. The old site was pure s#@t!

  • bad post. A lot of online stores show product availability, how is this any different.

  • I like the new website look over the PDFs.

I also like how this little advert that has backfired LOL!

Here's an interesting MSY redesign which I found via googling… it apparently was done by a schoolkid

stop glorifying this deceiving thread pls

      • This deceiving thread?

Man you need to chill out, this wasn't advertising on my behalf, i simply wanted everyone to know about this. Simple as that, i have no connection to msy .. so how can it be deceiving?

    • "I developed this website as a hobby project to improve my skills in HTML and CSS. It is used frequently by many, and is updated regularly."

It could just be a school project :/

  • I'll throw in a cheery positive to offset some of the rather rabid MSY-haters. Buy probably half my gear through them and have honestly rarely waited more than 5 mins and never 10. I also always email or call first to confirm stock - too Easy!

Loving too that they have recently opened a shop close to me forcing an attitude adjustment on my local OW, Dick Smith & all. hehe "keeping the bastards honest" I like it a lot!
