    Fix title to $1280

  • damn bro, price is still a bit to steep for my liking.

    • This is the cheapest local stock I found, had no other choice as my old surface died few days ago.

      • yeah i know bro, im just saying im too cheap to buy something like this.

  • How did you get this price?

Discounted price of Surface Pro 4 i5 128Gb is $1349. When on the counter I saw that $1349 made out by adding $69 Norton Antivirus to Surface price which is $1280. I said to person on register if I can get rid of Norton. Without hesitation she removed that from the total price.

  • Good price. Great machine

Keep in mind all rumours (and Amazon) are pointing to a refresh Surface 4 Pro (likely with new CPU) in the next couple of weeks. If you can hold off you're probably best waiting.

    • The rumors are that MS will launch a Surface All-in-one PC this month, not a refresh of the Surface Pro or Surface Book lines. All indications point to a late Q1 2017 launch of the next Surface Pro and/or SurfaceBook.

To anyone considering the surface line up. Do some research about the tablet's prevailing hardware problems since the first surface. I've had two surfaces with me and both of them died after a while. They will show signs of that by not starting up or hanging randomly. No amount of troubleshooting helped them.

    • Which models? A friend has a Shortage pro 4 as his primary development machine for work (gets a lot of use) and it's been great. He had some software issues early on but they've been fixed with updates.

      • Surface pro 3 and surface pro 4. Both had the same problems after a while. I had the i5 version for pro 3 and i7 version for the pro 4. Search the Internet for surface "no boot" or "black screen".

    • True. My mate's one died but he got a brand new one on the spot @ microsoft store.

  • I wish the hard drive was upgradeable. Will have to wait for a deal on some higher capacity machines.

if hard drive were to be be replaced easily, the computer would be thicker.

    • What are you putting on the drive?

Is it something you can't do with a microSD card? Does it require super fast access?

      • Mainly download and edit photos from my SLR. When I've already got it loaded with TV shows and movies for in-flight watching, you quickly run out of space.

        • You should store your TV shows and movies on a micro SD card. It's a waste of the high-speed internal storage.
You can store your final photo edits on the micro SD card too. 200GB was just under $80 recently.

        • Yeah.. the TV shows and movies can go on SD because those don't require fast access or transfer speed.

Then you can do your photo editing on the internal drive.

If you want 256GB internal, you have to get the $2000 model which is a big jump in price.

I got a 200GB Sandisk Ultra for $77 from the mwave deal with AMEX. Much cheaper than going to a higher model.

        • @lostn: yeah I already have a micro sd for my surface pro 1. I hardly have anything on the internal drive and with windows plus a few apps there's barely any storage capacity left.

        • @atlas: Do you have the 64GB model?

        • @eug: nope 128gb. Don't think the pro comes in 64gb?

        • @atlas: The Surface Pro 1 came in a 64GB model which had about 30GB free which would match your comment about having barely any storage capacity left. But the 128GB model comes with 90GB free, so unless the few apps you installed are massive, I don't see how that could be called "barely any storage capacity left".

If you find your Windows folder has grown humongously since new, maybe try PatchCleaner.

  • I've got the surface pro 3.. Biggest disappointment after buying it was realising that the front and rear lens are both fixed focus and can't be used to take photos of documents. By the time you get far enough away for them to be in focus it's too far away for the camera to break up text. If you google, people have come up with workarounds by attaching a magnifying lens from a pair of glasses to it.

Also it gets really damn hot! I've got the i7 version.

Otherwise, I love the surface pro and will be getting another one when this one dies.

    • I have mine in a case (SP4). I don't really notice the heat.

Only problem is accessories for products like these are sold at inflated prices.

  • My surface 3 is a beast. Love using it and have no dramas. Highly recommended to buy Surface as your tablet or pc!
