  • Nice find OP. Also don't forget to use incognito mode if you're on Chrome, just in case :)

      How come?

      • +3

some websites track your cookies and change the prices.

      • Yep as dasher86 pointed out.. Most likely it won't happen, although why risk it? :)

        • i find usually it more or less happens when i look for available seats.
only 1 available seat left at this price… when i actually look for how many seats i want miraculously they appear available.

        • @dasher86: I've just shared this comment because I don't think incognito mode really helps.

Also, what you just described happened to me the other day, but I believe it was for a different reason.

I was looking at a flight and it said two seats remaining. I looked it up in normal mode and went through to payment, then incognito also through to payment. I kept stalling and didn't end up buying until about 20 mins later. I was also trying to actively keep my session "active". Out of fear that my session had possibly timed out and that I would simply encounter a "session expired" message on payment, I decided to keep that window open (as a backup) and open up a new session to find the flight. The price had gone up.

In my head I was thinking, either:

          • The price has actually gone up
          • The two seats I just searched for in the previous browsers had been "allocated/reserved" and the cheaper price would reappear upon checking later.

I was fuming.. but there was nothing I could do except accept the higher price, wait and see if it drops again, or pick another airline. I decided to wait it out.

About 1.5 hours later I checked again. The price had dropped back to the original price. Based on this, I reckon the seats were simply "allocated" due to me having gone through to the payment page.

          TLDR:

          • I don't think Incognito mode helps. Incognito mode's sole purpose remains (lol)
          • If the price of a particular seat on a particular flight has gone up, it has either really gone up.. or..
          • The seats that you, or someone else have searched on the same day have been "allocated" and will be released again to the public if no one purchases
        • @illumination: I agree that the simplest explanation may be the right one.

Mostly because I think that Scoot lacks the competence or drive to mess about with cookies.

        • @peterpeterpumpkin: Remember Occam's razor.

    • POLI won't show up in incognito mode, if people would like to avoid cc processing fee & pay using POLI (no charge)

      • Really?! Which browser (on which operating system) did you try?

It seems to work at least initially for me with the latest Chrome on Windows but I don't wish to go through to my bank just in case.

    • I used to always swear by this, but then I read this.

      And just found this

  • Good prices OP, did note not a whole lot of availability after mid November for outbound flights from OOL, SYD or MEL. $129 outbound seems available up until around 18 November then nothing for base price.

Seems to be more availability on return legs though so could be handy for someone flying SIN-AUS.

I was looking at going to Rottnest for a weekend, its cheaper to go to Singapore (This + 2 night accommodation vs Ferry + 2 nights accommodation) :D

    • The accommodation and food is probably way better than Rotnest..oh, and the weather too!

  • What if I want to bring things back? What do I do?

    • wear them.
or select 'add bags' option when booking. +$42 each way.

  • this is the chepest ever i've seen!!
and they hav Dreamliner between sydney and singapore!!

last time i paid $350 and was on crappy flight.

to bangkok and KL, price is pretty good too. can find $305 return to BKK and $398 to KL

    now decision to make..hmmmm
    thanks OP

  • Excellent timing for November. Take an extra day either side and make it a long weekend.

Only thing I don't like about Scoot is their return timing to PER. Midday flight means wasted morning for no benefit.

    • Your tune might change if you were flying SIN-SYD - Not even changi airport is much fun at 2am, and that's before 7hrs flying in those lovely LCC seats. Perth to SEA is probably one of the few times you folk get a better deal (choice/price-wise) flying international…

      • +1

I can strongly recommend getting Scoot in Silence to make your LCC seats a bit lovelier (indeed, probably better than many seats I've had on traditional carriers).

The 2am departure from Changi is definitely quite painful :(

      • +1

For me I think I would rather the 2am departure. Means I get to the airport at midnight, fly into the morning. Given the choice of maximising my time in Singapore or wasting 7 hours during the day. I'd pick the early morning flight.

None the less, I've still booked my outgoing ticket with scoot and my return with Jetstar.

    • A sleep in is never a waste of time! hehe!!

  • Is the option to pay by POLI missing for everyone else?

    • was missing when I use incognito mode.. it came out after using firefox. save me $20

  • Won't be free until the end of November. Ah well

$129 flights from SYD stop on the 17th November.

  • +2

I put in some dates for Syd to Bangkok (DMK) and came up with about $A330 return. Not too shabby!!

  • WOW only 399 one way for the scootbiz around Melb Cup weekend. If only I had leave… would be a great deal!

  • Does anyone test that only buy one way and also get the cheap price?

  • Cannot go, busy period at work shame shame shame :~~

  • Damn just missed this!! Please let me know if it comes back or if anyone wants to pass on their flights :)

    • still available - must not be to daylight savings time - you got 45 more mins!
edit: updated post, tis available until 2pm GMT+10 (Syd is now GMT+11 due to daylight savings)

  • Flights from Adelaide are always so expensive! Any way to work around that?

    • move ;)

  • thanks mate just bought a one way ticket to singapore :) :)

  • That's the same fair for a return trip Melbourne -Brisbane! Should I flight to Singapore for few days instead of going back to Brisbane from Melbourne?

  • Expired at 3pm Syd time, prices back to $199 each way (SYD-SIN, no bags no food)

  • I was hesitating. Now the deal is over :(

  • This will teach me to check OzBargain more often… :(
