  • what about KUL to SYD one way flights?

Just a reminder for people who are privacy conscious, Malaysia now fingerprints travelers entering the country.

    • +2

they've been doing this for ages.

      no fingerprints = no entry.

you also can't refuse a full body scan if requested in australia

i said goodbye to my privacy a long time ago.

i just hope my manboobs don't end up on the internet.

      • Lots of counties do that now and I am sure many more will follow.

I think this has happened since 2011. It was to prevent illegal workers from entering Malaysia I think.

Also handy reminder for those without fingers

      • Damn that made me LOL

  • Can anyone find a good deal to go anywhere (within 10 hours flight) of Perth during Christmas & New Year? Carton of beer reward!

    • You must be ready to pay at least 50% extra.

      • More than happy to pay 50% more on the above prices :) PER-KUL-PER at $150+$75=$225.

    • China is your only bet, I guess. I just bough a return ticket the other day to Beijng for Chrismas high peak time for $600 with a full service Chinese Airline, called Hainan Airline, which is pretty awesome considering the time. But from Perth it would be different story, try days when there are Chinese airlines flying. A quick search came up with flights for $763 to Beijing with AirAsia. Not too bad I would say.

      • New route. Flew with them to PEK via CSX (Changsha) the other week. Tip: Bring your own entertainment, not much on the supplied tablets. Also, if you transfer in Changsha good luck… it took us quite some time to get through customs and then we had a mad dash to our connection.

There are new routes to China launching all the time at the moment. Lots of good options.

  • What a horrible purchasing experience. I follow the link to IWantThatFlight and successfully find the flights I want, then I am given about 9 choices for company to book with. I go with the cheapest, and select Oppodo, and it attempts to output to a new tab that renders as a blank page.

After I try that several times in my default browser (Microsoft Edge on Windows 10), I repeat the process in Firefox, and this time I reach the Oppodo website, and I am initially delighted to see a further $5 discount. The price is now down to $301. So I go through the process to purchase, untick luggage, and every other extra feature, and suddenly, when I go to pay, the price has jumped up to $349, with no explanation as to what the additional $48 is for??????? Is this a scam?

Swing back to Edge, point it directly at airasia.com, and I get the exact same flight for $312 using my company visa card via PayPal

    • Not defending IWTF or Oppodo but "my default browser (Microsoft Edge on Windows 10)" is an oxymoron.

    • I think MS Edge may be the reason. The product is still not mature and I find that IE has a better reliability in all kind of payment transaction.

  • My wife is worrying about travelling with AirAsia since the last incident. Question is should we be worry about this airline? Seem to me that it is way too budgetary compare to other airlines during Christmas period.

    • We've flown with them quite a lot over the last 10 years. Still alive!
