JACK WEST JR AND THE HERO’S HELMET
Before you read The Four Legendary Kingdoms, find out more about Jack West in the new short story from Matthew Reilly, The Hero’s Helmet.
Jack West Jr. Adventurer. Scholar. Warrior.
He is known for his cool head under pressure …
… and also for the battered fireman’s helmet he has worn throughout his adventures.

This is the story of how he got it.

    • Ahhh. Great idea!

    • Does it come as DRM-free ePub?

    • I thought Telsta stopped allowing Google Play purchase via pre-paid credit at the end of Sept 16?

The freedom plus plan got grandfathered, I'm still on it.

It's free at our local library !!!

    • But then you can't get him to sign it at Supanova Expo next month if it's borrowed from the library :) Well, you could but then you'd have to give it back!

  • All his books are amazing so I am sure this wont be any different.

    • I've read all his books and love them all, still love this new one but it was missing abit to it. Felt more rushed than previous books but the next novel will start straight up from the end of this one so that might explain the rushed feeling.

Years ago he did a signing just outside A&R and they were selling it for $45. I remember walking about 20m down to Big W / Target and picking up the same book for $25 then walking back to the queue and getting it signed :P

  • Book is $24 at K-Mart if anyone wanted to know.
Half way through it at the moment, great read so far!

    • +2

So what do you do- just drop past Kmart on your lunch break, try read 15-20 mins every day?

      I like the long game.

  • Can you jump straight into this book or best to start from the first in the series?

    • Best to start from the first which is Seven Ancient Wonders, the series is counting down.

    • Didn't seem like you had to for 6 and 5, I'm guessing probably not.

      Edit: I take that back.

  • +1

Looks like my type of book!

Prob will get the Ebook Version though, sick of books I read 1 time clogging up space!

Is this the first in the series?

    • Nope. Seven Ancient Wonders is.

Also don't forget Matt is at Brisbane Supanova in November as part of his book signing tour so go get it signed and while you're there check out the convention.

  • The only trouble with books these days(and it's been this way for a while now unfortunately) is a popular author gets published in thicker and thicker books with correspondingly larger and larger typesets used. To me it is such a blatant ripoff that I'd want to see the product first in case I'm purchasing a bundle replete with empty space….this is no criticism of howdee's deal just a general comment.

    • yeah agreed. i read this one very quickly. i feel like his older boys had a far higher word count

  • Anyone know how much shipping is if I buy online from Big W? Can't seem to find it.
