Wow does anyone buy pentax anymore ?
Canon and Nikon took most of their customers years ago

      And Sony

Sony might have some of the customers, but not all of them are satisfied. Pentax know how to make a camera that can resist weather, dust, cold (my Pentax camera was the only electronic item that kept working in -40°C in Stockholm a few years back), etc…

My Sony camera has struggled to take usable pictures, or even shut down completely, on numerous occasions in humid places (like Manila). Even Sony's supposedly "waterproof" phones are sometimes less able to deal with water than Pentax's only "weather resistant" cameras.

Pentax makes wonderful cameras and lenses. The only deficiency they have is video mode. If they implemented proper IS and follow focus (like the one on Canon 70D) I would never look at any other brand ever.

I took my K5 to Shanghai a few years ago in September. My wife and I went for a walk along the Bund one night and had the WR 100mm Macro on the K5. We had a blast taking photos in the pouring rain and the camera didn't even bat an eyelid. Still kicking along perfectly 4 years later. I kind of want an excuse to buy the K1 but the K5 is still perfect for what we use it for. Battery lasts for 1000 shots easily, picture quality is as good as my crappy eyes will ever need, and the lens range is phenomenal. The only thing that would push me over the edge would be better autofocus, but I've leared work with it.

I do. I find the autofocus of Pentax cameras to be a slower and clunkier than Canon and Nikon, but in just about every other regard I prefer Pentax.

There is still a good array of lenses available, and since they have been using the same lens mount for decades I can use old lenses. I own 35mm, 50mm and 450mm prime lenses, and 18-55mm and 100-300mm zoom lenses with a combined cost of about $150. Bargain.

Pentax DA* lenses have fast and silent autofocus. But they would cost you more than $150 : - (

    • Yep I still do, yeah they stuffed up in the delays on a FF camera. But they still make a bang for buck camera with good menus, and the FA77 is an amazing prime!
