Finally Canberra return cheaper than Sydney return - AWESOME!

  • Still not sure that it is better to fly Qantas economy or Jetstar (economy). Qantas used to code share one way with ANA, which was good, but the Qantas flight attendants were pretty horrible. The Jetstar attendants on the international leg to Japan were usually very good with at least one third being Japanese.

    • How can a person be one third Japanese?

      • +1

Start off with a non-Japanese person and replace 1/3 of body parts (by either weight or volume) with organs from a Japanese donor/s and/or bionics made in Japan.

We can rebuild him; We have the technology

      • +2

It was mentioned above - the flight attendants have an "international leg"!

    • Qantas used to code share one way with ANA

When? ANA only recently came back in to the market.

They do however codeshare with JAL from SYD as part of the One World Alliance

      • Ansett codeshared with ANA (Ansett operated, ANA ticketed) back in the early 2000s but never QF/ANA

        • Correct.

Ansett & ANA were part of the same alliance (Star Alliance). QF & JAL are One World Alliance.

  • Jetstar is the best so far with $400 return! But not anymore.

    • Wait for another deal. They seem to occur every 4-6 months

  • Hi TA, Anything around January?

    • +1

Peak travel time for Aussies due to snow, don't count on it

  • Can anyone else see these flights out of Sydney?

  • -4

Sydney flights require transfer at Mel. Do not transfer at Mel! Int to domestic transfer at tullamarune is a nightmare at the best of times. Pretty sure it is faster to walk back to syd from mel than to transfer there.

    • +3

wow really? i mean i live in Melbourne so never had to do the transfer here.. but surely considering it's all in the same (admittedly quite large) building it should be relatively straight forward?

especially versus the nightmare that is trying to get between the 2 in Sydney..

    • +1

If you want a flight from SYD that doesn't transfer, look for SYD-HND rather than SYD-NRT.

    • don't be lazy.

  • Shame they will cancel the Jetstar flights ex Melb to Tokyo. I bought one way for $250 to Tokyo and now you're looking at at least 400 one way now with Qantas.

  • Can you buy these flights with Qantas FF? Or have to be debit/credit card?

    • Obviously you can, but through the Qantas FF website.

  • Mann would so love to go Japan. Any discount/ deals on friend?

  • What about if I just want one way during the sale period, say Fly out of Sydney on Mar 16?
I can't find any flights under $400 one way, except with Air Asia, which I'm not keen on. I need to get to Japan mid to late March. I will fly to Europe from there later but just want a good deal on a one way flight. Anyone know how I do that?

    • +1

Go with Air Asia…..it will defiantly be one way :)
