  • Not a bad deal… Normal price elsewhere is about $250 at the cheaper end.
Also, new toners are about $130 - $150 for a 5,000 page toner (only comes with a 2,000 'starter toner').

Anyone have any other comparable (Multifunction laser) at around this price? I want to see how it stands up against the competition

    • the only ones around this price is the brother - which Im not sure but has a seperate drum unit? whereas this model has the drum inbuilt into the toner?

There is also a HP model, but doesnt have networking.

just got a similar model - so far I dont like the action for turning off as when you press the power button it asks you to confirm.
Also the manual paper tray - there is none - and the feeder only takes 1 sheet at a time.

  • Good multifunction printer overall. Little slow start up/warn up as with most laser printers.
Got the older model for years still working fine.

  • It has everything i want except auto duplex (2-sided) printing :(

Can anyone recommend a (cheap) B&W Laser MFC with auto duplex/fax/autofeed scanner/network ?

    • The 4828 has duplex printing. No duplex scanning / copying though.

  • I looked at one of these but ended up getting a Canon Pixma MX870 which has auto duplex (print & scan) and got it for $222 at Officeworks with a price guarantee. Not a laser but certainly a bargain for the features & colour.

  • I am actually looking for a

    1. Colour Laser
    2. Networked
    3. Multifunction (printer, copier) with sheet feeder for scanner.

With 15% I can get a Dell 1235cn for $339 (+7% from MoneyBackCo), however the reviews are mostly saying it's crap. I much prefer a Brother or a Xerox but these are all over-$500 range :(

    • don't forget, Dell toners are super expensive, about double normal genuine retail ones.

  • Also optical scan resolution seems quite low (Up to 600 x 600dpi). Even my 7yr old Epson CX3100 has a 600 x 1200 dpi scanner and I thought that average looking at my scanned photos! Really frustrating that printer manufacturers can't get their act together and still have such hit and miss products…

  • good deal, I got non-networked version at this price and that was a pretty good price too! :*(
