MyRepublic $59.99/Month (Min 12 Months) for 100/40 NBN Plan. No Download Limit. Launching 15 November

5040

The company that made 100 mbps plans the norm in Singapore, Indonesia and New Zealand is now launching in Australia. At 59.99 for a 100mbps line, it will be the cheapest 100mbps plan in Australia. Not to mention a lot cheaper than some ADSL plans and some lower speed NBN plans from other providers that have download limits. They also have a MyRepublic Gamer plan for 69.99. Not sure what different but possibly to do with low network latency (+static IP).

Not sure how they will manage the $59.99 price with the NBN's CVC pricing model on top of the AVC charge but the CVC pricing model is being overhauled soon hopefully

  • Most likely they will sell as other cheap ISP already did.

      what do you mean?

  • By email yesterday.

Looks like they check if you are able to get NBN before sending you an invite

Thank you for your interest in MyRepublic.

Congratulations, we have confirmed that the MyRepublic Unlimited SuperFast nbn™ service is available at your address.

From Tuesday the 15th November, you can go online to place your order.

I am currently on NBN FTTP

  • Their site has launched
Looks like they do ADSL as well at the same price point which is interesting.

I got an email this morning stating I don't have NBN but they can offer me ADSL. Which is weird as I'm on NBN at the moment. Called up their number, the Customer Service guy was helpful but he couldn't locate NBN at my address.
I ended up finding my NBN connectivity details on Finder.com.au and give him the Location ID and ADA, which he was able to locate and setup the account for me. Confirmed with him their service will delivery via a different UNI_D port so I wouldn't have any down time.
Also opt in for the $1 Wi-Fi router as well. Looking forward to see how their service is.

    • Would you mind explaining how to get thet information from Finder. I am having the same problem but don't know how to find that information. Thanks in advance.
I even got the confirmation email saying that i can get the super fast nbn. But now when i check my address on their website, it says nbn not available.

      • +3

        freakunow,

        This was what I did:
        1. head to https://www.finder.com.au/nbn-tracker
        2. Type in my suburb and postcode. This will bring up your suburb map
        3. I then zoom in and scroll to the apartment block I was on, click on it, which the status at the bottom will show No NBN connection information. However, it does provide close address matches. I simply scroll through that list and find my apartment number.
        4. The status should change to Connected (If you are already on NBN) or Ready to Connect (If you are not connected but NBN is available) along with other details including Location ID and ADA number on the right pane.

You can then call back and give them the exact address shown on the status box, and give them the location ID and ADA as well which will help them to match up. My apartment block has around 500 units and it certainly helps. Good luck.

        • Champion. Cheers mate

  • anyone is getting gamer pro plan?
basically for 12 months plan - total $120 extra to standard NBN
    effectivly PS4 Pro voucher = 200-120 = $80 over 1 year contract

    • I am thinking about this as well, do we just select Gamer Pro addon and will we be eligible for $200 voucher?

  • Didn't get any email here, despite preordering, so went to the website and signed up direct. Decided not to wait as I wanted to be up the front of the install request queue. Will wait to see what happens now.

  • did anyone receive a confirmation email after signing up?

    • +1

Sign up over the phone this morning but still waiting for confirmation email. The guy on the phone did said their system is quite slow so may not get an email till later on.

  • Just signed up to the Gamer plan :)

    Wicked deal with Static IP.

  • Signed up online. No email yet. Fingers crossed

  • I am not in a NBN area but am currently with Belong ADSL2+. There is a bit of congestion in the evening. I believe my area is pretty much owned by Telstra as they control all the ports. Would signing up to MyRepublic ADSL help at all seeing how they're all about speed?

    • +1

      Probably not…

    • +1

Sounds a lot like the situation I'm in. Behind a RIM, so Telstra hardware upping prices for most ISPs. Also with Belong for that reason, they weren't going to charge a fortune extra. My FTTN NBN is set to be turned on in 15 days though, so I'm looking forward to that happening.

  • Got a call from iiNet saying NBN's live earlier this evening, remembered this deal and just signed up for the gamer plan.
Static IP for $10.. Can't complain. Might even take them up on the PS4 offer.

  • Does anyone know where their sales and support staff are located

  • I would sign up if I wasn't on a contract with a break fee on Exetel NBN until February 2018 :( I've been with Exetel since July 2005, but services like this from MyRepublic are what we should be getting, seeing as several other countries have had this kind of plan for years. Example: just outside Stockholm, 2Gbps symmetric for $45 a month. It's only (up to) 100Mbps on MyRepublic because of NBN, but it's a step in the right direction.

Why not just give people the full speed of their line like this MyRepublic plan does? ADSL2+ has always been the same unrestricted "up to" service.

    • I've been with Exetel since 2005 too from ADSL1—>Fibre now. Hopefully signing up to MyR once some reviews are in. This is the shakeup AU needs to force the competition to bring internet prices down & affordable for everyone.

It's just so unfortunate that the whole Labor FTTP/Libs FTTN tug of war 'NBN' bungle has left the state of AU's internet in. It's going to take at least 2 decades to fix up. If it weren't for that we would be getting 1Gbps on this plan, at this price right now. Thanks alot Mabbott?! :s

      face palm tsk tsk

  • Im on Skymesh NBN. Is there a minimum notice period to terminate ny Skymesh service? Im on their standard month to month plan.

    • +1

I don't know about termination details, but keep in mind if on FTTP (maybe also of FTTN) you have 4 ports on your NBN box, so you can activate the service on another port and keep your old service on the original port until it gets terminated. That way you dont lose the vlaue or have any interruption to your services

      • +1

Yes, there are 4x UNI-D ports in which each one can carry independant internet service/connections/subscriptions from same or multiple RSP's.

What you do is order the 2nd plan & once that is activated on another port on the NTD, you cancel your other plan from another provider & ask them to prorata refund you so you won't be out of pocket for the unused part of the remaining month.

Also make sure to backup+change your emails & port your PSTN landline or VOIP no. to another provider if required.

  • I am currently with Telstra cable out of plan now.
Does anyone know how long it takes to setup MyRepublic NBN?
Also how many days notices do I need to give Telstra?
    Thank you.

    • got the same email. now just to wait for the services.

      • wait period may take upto 20 business days ..not cool

        • Skymesh did mine within an hour.

    • Yes got mine today as well. Interesting as I received this in response to my online signup. The interesting part is that earlier today I received a 'sorry but NBN is not available' in your area in response to my preregistration, which was made over the phone with the call centre operator checking that NBN was available via FTTN at my address before placing the registration of interest. I wonder what data base the person who 'checked' this later referred to?? Clearly not the same one the rest of us are using and the one NBN Co is using.

      • They didn't even reply to my preregistration… starting to have doubts

  • +3

I just got the same email.

I called because I was worried about transitioning from TPG and downtime, but apparently they don't close your TPG connection you can have multiple on NBN FTTP.

Was nice to speak to an aussie in the call center who was polite and straight to the point. I signed up yesterday (15th) he said my connection should be on in 2 days. Hopefully I can get my login details as I wont need the 1 dollar Router….

I'm one of the lucky ones who can max out 100/40 mbs, will report back how my speeds go.

If congestion happens I will try to break contract if it becomes unreasonable, to much down time.

Hopefully being on the Gamer plan will mean a more reliable connection, I need the Static IP which I lost when I went to NBN with TPG ( really annoying!!!)

    • +1

should be on in 2 days

Please let us know how the process turns out & quality of connection. Thanks.

      • Guinea Pig will do

        • +1

          guinea pig has results?

        • @Micoa: no router yet or emails should come Tuesday or wednesday. As they said 3 business days for delivery

        • @Javelin: Friday now just got email with auspost tracking number. No PS4 voucher yet

        • +1

@Javelin: i got my ps4 voucher a few hours after asking them yesterday

        • +1

@Micoa: I got my ps4 pro two day's ago after useing my republic's voucher. lol

        • @Axelstrife: yeah, I got my PS4 Pro voucher today and ordered straight away. Bonus AMEX $30 credit too for their online thingy, so net effect a PS4 pro for $328. Pants.

        • +4

          @TheZohan: Awesome

BTW keep a look out i just got my service activated literally minutes ago
          http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5825557604

        • +1

@Axelstrife: wow! If i got those speeds I'd be ecstatic.

So far things looking good for the guinea pigs :-P

        • +1

@TheZohan: considering im coming from 25/5 speed which ive only been on for 1 months and 12/1 for the previous 18 months and 1.5 for the 2years before that

          these speeds are insane.

        • @Axelstrife:

Recieved Modem called and asked about connection they said still wait for SMS but max wait is 19 days, so halfway there now.

Still no PS4 code she said I should get that after I get my activation email.

        • +1
        • @Steptoe: yeah that's the one! I'd forgotten about it, so it was a nice little bonus on top of the $200 voucher.

FWIW, I received my PS4 Pro code today, and haven't even been notified about the modem etc. I'm not overly fussed really, as I'm churning so still internetting in the meantime.

  • I signed up today, now waiting…

  • preregistered - email saying no nbn @ my residence - fair enough, new estate had the same with exetel 2 weeks ago.
emailed them 2 days ago with no response so decided chat with their online support.

Was told they can see my house has nbn and they can provide but their system wont let them, so they'll "get back to me".

So i guess ill sit tight a little longer and see what people have to say around here before I make my final decision haha.

  • Okay, progress on my order. Yesterday (18/11) I received a message telling me that my modem is being posted out. So that is a positive start.

  • WOW. Best customer service to date. So far so good. Speed and price seem good. Will provide an update.

    • You're connected?

  • -1

If anyone has a $200 off ps4 pro code and doesn't want it I would be eternally grateful for it :D

  • +1

    Anyone's connection been activated yet?

  • FYI they are reselling Optus.

    • Are they reselling Optus NBN or ADSL?

The following FAQ only mentions ADSL: https://myrepublic.net/au/personal/support/broadband-homepho…

      • +1

I called up and asked, NBN also.

        • Are they reselling Optus or using Optus infrastructure for their back haul?

        • @Reddog888: Not sure, but since they have gamer plans, I'm guessing back haul.

        • @apptrack: That's what I thought

        • @Reddog888: The prioritising traffic won't be too hard, I'm guessing their own DNS will do that.

    • +1

Is this a bad thing? Would it mean that we'll get Optus nbn speeds?

  • UPDATE: 23/11/2016

Received Modem from My republic. Waiting for connection now and do not know how long the wait going to be. Anyone else signed up for $59.99 + $1 Modem plan?

    • I'm on FTTN w Exetel at the mo. called up R and they said to hold tight til i get an SMS

  • Just got my modem too. called them up. gotta wait for text to confirm churn from exeter NBN. $59 plan plus $1 here too

  • This may be asked before, do they do FTTN? TPG said I will have FTTN on 6Jan but not with their NBN search.

    • Yes, but speed will depend on a number of factors including distance from mode, condition of the copper between the node and your home, etc. I have signed up for this on FTTN and have today received my tracking number for the modem which has been sent, signed up 15/11. Also received a message 18/11 stating worst case of 20 day install so should be active by end 1st week of December, note the should.

      • Can they port my TPG home phone number across?

        • Ring and ask them, probably but it would depend upon what type of number the TPG one is and how you obtained it. If you ported a number to TPG then most likely yes, but call TPG and/or MyRepublic to find out. It is all in the terms and conditions of TPG because MR says you can bring your number with you and it is an option in the sign up process BUT you need to own that number to be able to port it.

    UPDATE:24/11/2016

Just received a call regarding appointment for 29/11/2016. I was advised that the technician will be at our property to install piece of equipment for us to able to use NBN service. :) (was also advised that I need to call Optus if I had to change the appointment dates)

    • when was your register with them?

      • ..on the launch day 15/11/2016..

  • I have just notice that MyRepublic modem looks like white version of iinet/internode TG-789. Or I am just wrong?

  • Is it worth switching MyRepublic ADSL2+ as I am current on TPG unlimited?

  • Received my modem today 25/11 in regional Victoria. So hopefully connection will not be far off.

  • How many days do you have to wait for the activation after you get the modem?
Just need to decide on when to cancel my current Telstra cable plan.
    Thank you.

    • It has nothing to do with when you receive your modem. It would appear to depend on when you signed up, your location and what type of work is required and the type of connection you have. FTTP is reported to be very quick could be hours, FTTN 5-20 days. Wireless ? ADSL ?

      • Thanks. They said between 5 to 20 business days.
        Is FTTN faster than FTTP?

        • NO, FTTP can be hours but FTTN much longer typically.

      • I received my modem couple of days ago and I am on FTTP but no updates on service activation so far

  • Well I've had my modem for about 6 days now, telstra cancelled my service 4 days ago so I called MR that day to see when I'll be connected and their answer was that everything on their end said I was already connected. I've called 3 times since and keep getting fobbed off saying to call them back in a couple of days.

    • Update.

Got an email a few hours ago saying that my NBN and phone were connected, so I reset the modem and… nothing! Gave MR a call and once again they couldn't tell me what was the trouble, just palmed me off again saying that if it isn't connected by tomorrow morning to call back.

      • Update.

No connection this morning so I called back, once again we did the usual troubleshooting dance to no avail. Told me they were escalating it so the engineers could check it out. Also they seemed to be surprised when I told them that I was FTTN.

        • They are really horrible

  • Signed up 17/11. Received the router 24/11. Got an SMS today saying NBN would come out to install stuff at my place on 2/11. I replied and said no, but haven't heard anything back yet lol

    • Is yours FTTP?

      • 'Tis indeed. Already got the box outside the house, now just need the one inside

        • Same :(

  • My modem delivery keeps getting delayed :(

  • Waiting for scheduled appointment (between 8am-12pm)for connection today…hopefully I will be able to test it out…

  • Bunch of speed tests out from about Friday morning. Look pretty good, but slow international uploads… https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2438666#r52173566

  • Well, good news, more progress. Today (Tuesday) I received an email and sms notification that an NBN techo will be at my premises in rural Victoria to connect me to the NBN (FTTN using a previously connected but currently inactive phone line) between 8am and 12 noon next Monday 5/12. So things are progressing well inside the stated time frames. I have my modem already so looking forward to Monday and then the notification from MyRepublic shortly thereafter saying my connection is active.

    • It is surprising that rural Victoria already got it and I am in Brisbane CBD and still nothing has happened so I guess it confirms the fact that Brisbane is more rural than rural Victoria :)

      • When did you sign up I did so am 15th Nov. It may also be the case that there were a number of 'connections' to be done here and an NBN Techo was assigned? …. or I just got lucky? In any case I am sorry for you but I am not querying my luck.

        • I did sign up on 15th as well. Apparently it is to do with NBN service class mine was 12 so I have to wait you might have one of those quick service classes, it all depends on the location. :)

        • +1

@Era: No mine is Class 11 so apparently not a straight forward 'flick and connect' or 'swap the wires'.

Go figure how the selection works but I will say this, it has NOTHING to do with MyRepublic as they put the request in and NBN prioritizes the work, so it is down to NBN Co. and God knows how they work.
