  • Made a booking via bestjet and got eticket confirmation but none of the details seem allow booking to show on VA website.

    • bestjet is showing flights >1k ?? (SYD-CDG)

  • +1

Looks like Virgin are onto it. No longer available :(

    • sigh this is what it seems like to me as well
      :(

    • BRANSON BETTER HONOUR ITTTTTT

  • Just got the following from eDreams:

    Cancelled booking

We are sorry to inform you that we have experienced problems with the operating airline’s server. We cannot confirm your flight.

Please try to make a new booking on our website again.

    • Fail! No wonder it doesn't show up on VA system. Did you get the booking confirmation email with 6 letter/digit booking code?

I called up Virgin and they gave me the correct 6 digit reference code which shows up on Virgin Australia Booking

      All booked!

      • Just an update, booked with another OTA and have a booking number that's showing up in Virgin :D

  • When I try to book a flight I get redirected to eDreams and the price goes up about $200??

  • Don't use Auntbetty

Tried to book and got a reservation error, spend 20+ mins on the phone.

A rude sales consultant tried to find different flights after those I booked became 'unavailable'. She then basically hung up after thanking me for my time and gave me nothing, no new flights or pricing, NOTHING!

Will waste my time writing to them to complain about the rubbish customer service as all the cheap flights are gone.

    • unlucky mate, I had no issues with them 1hr ago…

    • nothing available now?

      • Virgin Australia website has blocked all routes (I tried once again Osaka and Paris) and they show all dates "unavailable" in Feb

        • just checked EDreams and still showing AU $ 787.54 8th to 22nd to Paris from Sydney

    • Here is a FB response from AuntBetty………

      Hi xxxxxxxxxxx,

      Thank you for your email.

Unfortuantely the flights you have tried to book are a pricing error from Virgin Australia. We are working on eliminating these from the Aunt Betty site at the moment.

These will not process through to a complete booking as you would have noted when trying to book the flights.

We apologise for the errors, however these do happen from time to time due to human error.

Alternate prices can be found when searching on Aunt Betty.

      Kind Regards,

      Aunt Betty

Booked a few hours ago with bestjet. $634 feb-mar

Got the eticket number and it shows up on virgins velocity website :)

  • Has anyone had any success in booking seating on virgin website but singapore metal it says seating selection not available, think we can call singapore and allocate seats?

    • +1

Try putting your VA booking reference in the SQ site, or search your booking confirmation for an SQ reference. You might find it via checkmytrip.com

It works with BA and QF.

Edit: I would be reluctant to actually speak to an airline for any of these bookings… while it has been rumored they will honor bookings, I wouldn't be taking any chances! You should still be able to nab a window or aisle seat if you get to the airport early. If you're getting nervous, you can watch seat availability via expertflyer.com (if you can't already see it anyway via VA/SQ).

  • Oh man can't find anything for the mythical MEL-LON in Sept price… Already jumped on the Mauritius deal for April so need something cheap for the second half of the year!

  • Pricing error on some/all flights, Cancellations coming?????

    Confirmed here

    • +1

That was from a third party website…

Wonder how everyone who booked directly with the website and/or has a ticket issued goes…

      • +2

what if we bought travel insurance? can we claim if they cancelled?

  • cant believe i missed this. took a few hours to get my hubby to agree and finalise dates. on the payment screen of Expedia and i get a pricing error - and the price doubles! anyone who has success after this, let me know who you went with?

  • i booked a Syd-Seoul ticket over Anzac weekend through expedia for $350 (including CC fees). i gotten the ticket issued and credit card was charged. Fingers crossed no cancellation.
Thanks OP! (though i am still upset i missed the 652ish tickets).

  • I, WTF?!

  • +4

Looks like they have confirmed they'll honour them

    http://www.businessinsider.com.au/virgin-australia-accidenta…

    • Hell yeah! Great news!

    • +1

The article says " it’s believed Virgin Australia will honour the tickets of the lucky few that managed to book flights at the absurd prices."
      I'm not sure that's really a confirmation.

      • We will know soon enough I guess.

  • -7

Have been trying to book this since it was posted but keeps coming in at nearly two and a half times the price! Seriously guys, if you're going to advertise something at least honour the advertised price instead of having people look like fools. Not happy at all.

    • The prices have expired, someone dobbed us in to VA and they've fixed them now.. doh!

  • +1

Booked this morning (around 7 AM) Sydney to Paris return for 2 weeks in Feb for $890 through eDreams. Called Virgin customer support and confirmed the booking has been ticketed - Yah!

    • What do I ask? Hi I used some backyard website can you see if I'm in the system? lol. (Serious question).

      • Haha - There was an ETKT number buried in the email I got and that was enough. If you don't have that I'd imagine your name and flight number/date should be enough for them to find out if a booking was made.

        • Cheers I don't have any of that so I tried my name and their like 'nope' so my backyard website seems more backyard then yours :'(.

  • doh so this is dead now?? missed out big time :(

  • checked VA page and both my flights are confirmed.

    awesome.

    • +1

So are mine, but lets just hope they stay confirmed. There is an article going around stating it was a glitch by VA and that it will likely be honoured, however it's not official wording from VA themselves.

In another ozbargain thread, apparently VA have to negotiate with Singapore Airlines to make this happen too (or something along those lines) so it could yet be cancelled =(

      • wait and see. hmmm

  • +1

Still no official news but OzBargain gets a mention in this article :)

Fml! Asked all my mates to come with me though it was extremely last minute but they all dogged me. Haha, I’m too wimp to travel solo. Guess I should have asked some fellow bargainers here.

    • Going solo for first time but got some mates in London. This should be interesting

      • +1

Have fun man. I’m sure you will have a blast. On the contrary, I do have flights booked for NZ in May :D

    • +2

26 yrs old, up to my 55th country, nearly all solo! So dont ever let it stop you. You can backpack and stay in hostels you will make amazing friends and have free accommodation all over the world lol

      • -1

Wish I was brave as you ahah. The only way I would do a solo trip is if I booked via contiki or topdeck. I just find it messy when I try to plan things by myself knowing crap all in a foreign country.

Just called Virgin and they said they're still correcting the issue and are unsure whether flight bookings will be cancelled or not

    • Didn't the article released today said virgin will be honoring the tickets?

      • "Fortunately, it’s believed Virgin Australia will honour the tickets of the lucky few that managed to book flights at the absurd prices." According to Business Insider. It isn't confirmed unfortunately.

        • I facebook messaged virgin Australia. They said they are honouring the tickets :D

        • @swords114: That's still not an official statement. I hope they truly honour. Keep waiting for now.

  • +1

Not that anyone cares but budgetair just sent me an email saying they are cancelling it I'm guessing it's because they only tried to actually book it now and the prices are gone. Why does I want that flight allow back yard two dollar websites to process sales.

  • Looks like this thread made it into the news today.

    • It says it is confirmed in that article

  • +5

OMG! It's somewhat official - the guys on Facebook said

"Hi Mark, thanks for getting in touch with us and I am sorry for my delayed reply. I can confirm your booking will be honoured 🙂"
I think this is close to confirming it then.

    • Sounds legit! Thanks for letting us know, dude!

      • +5

No worries. Called up Virgin, Expedia and Singapore Airlines and they all confirmed! Although, I was speaking to people in either the Philippines or India who didn't exactly know of the issue but could see my flight confirmed. (Booked through Expedia for Virgin codeshare flight with Singapore Airlines to Singapore).

Ozbargain Paris/London meetup? We can baulk at the the 3-4 euro for a coffee in Paris

  • Virgin Australia have confirmed on Twitter that confirmed fight bookings will be honoured, I guess I'm off to France!

    • Should there be some email confirmation instead of twitter? Still unsure.

  • I called Virgin earlier, and they also confirmed my flights, and gave me the Singapore Airlines booking reference. I booked through BestJet, if that helps anyone.

    • Can u see the booking on singapore airlines website? Keep saying invalid booking reference for me!

      • You won't be able to see your Virgin codeshare booking on the SQ website, only under your Virgin account. To change your seats you can will need ring SQ with the SQ booking reference as Virgin will not change the seats for you. Good luck!

        • I tried to book seats but SQ said I have to wait until 48 hours before the flight

        • @lukelegend: same they won't let me pick seats or login to the sq website the reference number they gave me says invalid and can not be used on there website :/

        • +2

@bansharkfin: Yeah you definitely cannot use their booking number on the website with a codeshare, I have no idea why but it's just like that. In the past with a SQ codeshare I've always been able to ring and set my seat at any stage of the process. Must be special fare conditions of these tickets.

  • Just wondering if anyone has been able to select seating, as it is a Virgin Australia eticket

I can now open my booking using the Singapore Airlines reference on the Singapore Airlines website. (You need to open your booking on the mobile app first before you can use the website) I can add my passport details, Frequent flyer number and request window or aisle seating but i cannot select the exact seat numbers i want. I does show me i have confirmed window seats of 59K etc.. but has anyone been able to select the exact seats you want?

    • I tried and got seats automatically allocated. Rang Singapore Airlines and was advised that since it is a Virgin Airline ticket and part of their seat allocation, they are unable to assign me a self selected seat and that I should try at the airport. They also advised that VA are also unable to assign a seat.
