Perth > Chennai > Melbourne > Perth on Singapore Airlines Mainly for $372 @ Expedia

650

Okay OzB Community this is a very specific, but crazy good deal. Expedia (try STA Travel if Expedia runs out) has these flights for dates around Feb 2017. It is a Virgin Australia flight, but you'll be codesharing with Singapore Airlines. Similar flight on SQ costs $1500+.

Try different dates to suit your availability.

As I said, very specific deal and it looks like a glitch - but I hope this helps some!

Try STA Travel if Expedia runs out.

Had to look it up. Chennai is in India.

    • Yes

    • Only know that from the many disasters playing Pandemic

    • For those who had booked on 7/11-8/11 with Virgin- is your bank statement showing the transaction ??

Mine is not yet showing it (though the amt is debited). When i called Expedia today they said they had received a call with the same issue from another customer today.
Though they say that as long as we have the confirmed ticket all is good….. i am afraid it all may get cancelled if the transaction doesnt finish in 7 days.

  • Why the route back through MEL? No return flights direct to PER on certain days? :S

      for fun

        ok, boss…

        • Wow Member since 2008?? I think you're the boss here sir

        • @justcallmeboss: you sayin' I'm old? /S

      • Do you have a quick status credit calc done? :). Im interested…kind of

        • Sorry I do not :(
Haha I am so interested…. but no annual leave!

  • Cheaper on expedia… updating deal.

    • I'd look at IWTF

    • Indians?

    • Who doesn't

  • $386 out of Sydney via Perth, 2 stops, good Status Run.

    • Do you mind sharing the link?

    • $386 for just 110 SC isn't too bad, half way through silver

        Yea boiiii

Defintely will hit gold status with this pricing.

    • 110 SC if ex-SYD just half way through silver.

      • I think 120, 20SC each leg.

        • Fare code T is getaway- only 15 for SYD-PER

        • @Redwood:

There you go! no time for a proper check, too busy finding other combinations!

  • Sydney - Beijing and Sydney - Singapore all around same price

  • Where does it tell you how many kilos you are allowed?

  • For Velocity (Virgin Australia)
    Assuming Discount Economy…

    MEL-PER = 1,679 miles = VA Zone 3 = 20SC
    PER-SIN = 2,432 miles = VA Zone 3 = 20SC
    SIN-MAA = 1,816 miles = VA Zone 3 = 20 SC

Thus, return trip will be about 120SC from the East Coast.
(Which will get you 48% to Velocity FF Silver status).

    For Krisflyer (Singapore Airlines)
Assuming 50% earn rate for budget airline carriers

    MEL-PER = 1,679 miles
    PER-SIN = 2,432 miles
    SIN-MAA = 1,816 miles

Thus return trip will be able 11,854 Elite Miles from the East Coast.
(Which will get you 47% to Krisflyer FF Silver status).

    • MEL-PER is on getaway fares so just 15SC instead of 20

    • Cheaper on different dates- return on 28/02 for ~$505

Just booked Melbourne - Delhi Feb 17 for $410, awaiting confirmation email

EDIT: recieved Expedia confirmation, it gives me an Expedia itenary number which I can use to login to Expedia website to view my booking.

For some reason flights are called Virgin Australia but operated by Singapore Airlines. Both ways stops via Singapore, 7hr stopover on way there for 20hr total, and 4hr stopover on return for 17hr total

Now to ask the boss for leave tomorrow

Booking same flights through Singapore Airlines site quotes $1,300+ so unsure if this will still be honoured

EDIT 2: The Expedia email contained a Virgin Australia 6 digit reference, when entered into the VA site https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/bookings/manage-my-boo… the booking comes up all correctly and I can click re-send my booking so I have confirmation from VA rather than Expedia (3rd party)

    • Any info in checked in baggage ?

      • I believe checked baggage is included. I booked 2 sets of flights direct with VA and 30Kg checked baggage is included.

        • Does it say in the tickets or ?

        • @d-hunterz: It says it on the e-ticket from VA.

        • @SydneySwan:
Damn!!! I booked with iwtf and there is no info in the tickets . have to them .

        • @d-hunterz: Same here ! I booked with STA Travel and no info about the baggage.

        • Did you book through Virigin Australia directly through their website

        • @Dreamboy: I confirmed with Virgin Airlines its 30 Kg per ticket plus 7kg Cabin.

        • @d-hunterz: yeah! 30 Kg per ticket

    • How to did you get resend my booking —- because i am not able to select Chennai or MAA as destination —

Its showing in my velocity account … Please suggest how to resend the itinerary - not able to find the option

  • Cheap way to rack up those Status Credits

  • How can i BOOK THE BAGGAGE ? Don't even know if its included or not.
    Perth-Singapore-India (return)- is probably a short-haul flight
Virgin's site shows my Cabin & Fare Type= Economy. But doesnt show any baggage (is it 'Go' or what ??)

  • Good effort to found this deal !!

  • are you guys able to still book it?
price jumps in the payment page to regular levels.

  • i am unable to see the fare rules on Virgin's site anymore for my itenary booked last night
    * it was there last night

  • @Benjamin258 SAVE ME —— can you share the fare rules that you wouldve received from the itenary you had sent from Virgin's site last night
