  • that shiats all over 3 who only offer free 3 to 3 on their plans. gah. Im with 3.

    • VHA are likely to offer free calls to Vodafone in the near future. In other words, free 3 to Voda is coming.

    this is old as dude

    • Old? as in yesterday?

  • I am with Voda and was not aware of this. It is good that they added the 3 network as well.
    Definately a plus from me.

    • +1

I guess this is part of the slow integration of the 3 network into the voda network, as part of the take over of hutchinson.

  • Read the comment before that, 3 will soon get the same thing. it just mean Three and Voda customer can soon be calling each other free. I wonder if they will keep it for a long time. This will cost them fortune

    • Why? They are the same company and it will be an internal network call. Costs them peanuts.

      • It will cost them the money they were getting from Vodafone customers making calls to 3.

        • What are you tyring to say?

        • Might get them new customers with deals like this too!

          • @daydream: Or get existing customers who are on better value plans to migrate to the new plans which maybe give the impression they are better value.

Phone companies are always trying to offer you a "better deal" when in reality all they are doing is trying to extract more money from you.

Think about your circumstances carefully before leaving your existing plan.

  • Is this only for new plans? Or existing ones as well?

    • going by his post only for new customers taking the new caps launched in march. however it may mean existing customers changing the the new plan (this would not effect contract length) but just a change of plan… however not too sure.

      • changed my plan 2 months ago and im now getting the free to 3 calls….no wonder i still have quite a lot of the credit this month where i usually i will already chewed more than half of it

Vodafone has purchased 3 (so I was told) and hence you would soon see calling for free!

  • Hm my sister got the $49/month plan just 2 months ago I think. Does that mean she has this too?

    • if it was after march 11.

    • have a look on vodafone.com.au and get to log into her account.
check in call details for V23 calls.

      • Thanks
Yep it's free for her. Wow that's awesome haha

  • Have you noticed their $5/MB data that also comes off your cap. That means 30 MB and your $150 is wasted !!!!!!!!

    • True, which is why bolt-on data packs are neccessary.

However, I pay something ridiculous like that for my internet usage and it doesn't even come off my cap. A few times a month I'll check GMail on the go and it will use a few hundred KB a month. Ends up costing 50-80c outside my cap which I'm happy to pay.

If I was on a $350 cap and only used half of it, I'd be happy to let some ridiculous usage fees chew up the rest.

      • Tip: Making use of mobile versions of sites helps keep data costs down. eg: m.gmail.com/

  • Does it apply to BYO sim as well?

At the moment the $20 plan with 3 still suits me $150 incl calls, 50mb data and $200 3 to 3 Calls. Extra $4 per month gets you $500mb data - so $24 in total, and not locked to a plan. But if you cancel the $4 data package within 12 months you get charged $35 cancellation. I'm low usage, so i think best value there for me.

  • I'm just about to finish my 2 year contract with vodafone.. any tips on what i should be doing to get the best deal if i sign up with them for another 2 years? Does a 'i'm thinking of going with optus' bluff work?

  • I wish Optus & Virgin have this similar free calls.

    • Optus 100% owns Virgin Mobile. I don't see Virgin to Optus free, just Virgin to Virgin.

      • Those with 'yes' time though can call Virgin free (the free 20 min calls between 8pm-12am).
Such as the one offered by Live Connected and TPG plans.

        • The post gave the impression that free calls from Virgin to Optus was available when that is not the case.

  • darn wish the $19/mon cap was also eligible :(

  • Ever since the two companies had merged, I saw this coming haha. I expect 3 to offer their customers free calls to Voda as well.
