  • I have 2 of the Android only versions and they are very good, charging time takes a while.

    • +1

      That's because it's an 8,000mah battery hahaha
Most phones are between 1,500 and 3,000 lol

    • Something like this could really benefit from QuickCharge, but that certification doesn't come cheap.
So it's a balance of price and functionality

      • +1

Description on AliExpress says this one includes 5V 2.5A quick charge.

  • this was $123 US last night
    edit: mwasthe 32gb/2gb version

  • +1

how about battery, last long? discharge while idle? device hot when used to play games?

    • I can only speak based on specs, but an 8,000mah battery is freaking massive.
Even though it has to power what is roughly equivalent to a 1440p screen, it's still a lot. And I imagine it would last quite a long time.
How much it loses at idle and in gaming, I can't say though

    • +1

I have a Teclast Air 3G. The battery is 7000maH I think which sounds huge, but when using it, the battery did not seem all that spectacular.

Also this thing discharges even when it's off. When I went back to it a month later (it was fully charged) it wouldn't turn on. Found out the battery had died.

I used Windows shut down, so it's definitely not in sleep mode, or just screen off.

I would not get too excited about the giant battery.

      • +2

Yea idle battery drain is massive. :(

    • Watching shows and general stuff probablyy 6+ hours

If your playing games (clash of titans etc) then more like 4

I have a tablet like this but not the same model. Specs are the same.

It's worth pointing out that the Android partition does not support eXFAT formatted SD cards. So you have to choose.. FAT32 and no file bigger than 4GB (which excludes most HD movies), or you format it to eXFAT/NTFS and the card is only readable in Windows. This will mean that the Android partition will only have 16GB to use.

It's a shitty choice to have to make.

If you're using it to play HD videos, it will lag like hell in Windows. You'd only want to play them in Android. Except the SD card has to be formatted to FAT32, so a lot of your videos won't even fit on them.

I think the dual boot implementation is poor. They should have paid MS for the eXFAT license. But Chinese OEMs are too cheap to do so.

    • Android never natively supported NTFS in the first place, so its not like its an unknown per se and will have similar limitations on other models. Having said that, Paragon does have a plug-in for Total Commander App in the app store to read and write NTFS and ExFAT partitions. They also have a native add-on into Android as well for native compatibility - but requires root to do so in this process.

      • I didn't say it supported NTFS.

Android does natively support eXFAT though, which this tablet doesn't.

        • Only if the manufacturer chooses to do so. The Kernel does not natively support it unless you compile it with the driver support.

        • @bchliu: Yes and Chinese manufacturers choose not to do so, unlike everyone else.

Let me reword it for the pedants.

It is possible to have exFAT support in Android. Cheap chinese OEMs choose not to make it possible. If you buy a Samsung Android product, you can expect it to be there. If you are used to that functionality and expect other Android OEMs to function the same, you're in for a rude awakening.

If you want native support for files greater than 4GB on SD, do not buy this tablet.

Even the Nexus 6P does not support it - and thats GOOGLE (albeit manufactured by Huawei)

        • @bchliu: That's the first time I've ever seen a Nexus product even support microSD (not saying no devices support it — maybe the original Galaxy Nexus phone supported it also, but that would have been a long time ago), so I consider it a bonus that it's even there. But point taken.

At least the Nexus 6P has more than 16GB internal memory (32/64/128). 16GB for me is not useable.

  • According to this review, it has crap wifi…

Compared to the other Chuwi hi10 deal here, this one has a better screen and better gaming performance.

  • Wifi signal on mine isn't great compared to phones but its ok.

  • Does the HDMI port enable extended display or duplicate only in Windows?

    • Extended Display will work in Windows, or Linux…

      • Ok thanks. Good for powerpoint etc.

all these chinese not so well-known brands, they all looks and sounds good on PAPER but in the real they are so-so borderline of not good.
they can say 50MPX camera for example but picture quality maybe same as samsung s4
they can say 29,000mah battery but leaks badly or become very hot running 5 tabs of chromes.
they can say 5000x5000 resolution screen but touch sensitivity is bad and cant see anything under sun light.
they can say 512MB SSD but who knows they used cheapo slow speed SSD not samsung or toshiba thus apps games will lags
they can say wifi gps 4g bluetooth but all probablly cheap brands so coverage and signals will be bad or cant connect.

    above, someone confirmed about battery.

    • Teclast or Taipower as it's known in China is no small brand. Did you know they make SSDs? And computers from basic to GTX gaming?

    • +2

Batteries that leak badly or becomes hot when they run 5 tabs of 'chromes'?
'512MB SSD'? They advertise eMMC so they don't lie about speeds.

I personally wouldn't have posted all this baseless fear mongering crap justified by one person above had a battery drain problem with their Teclast Air 3G (which is a model about 2 years old now), and generations behind this one.

Heaps of people with an older Teclast will tell you about the standby battery drain and average wifi, me included - but it's <$200 for a full Windows tablet with great specs and a fantastic screen (for the price).

    • Lol, Dragon you are not, in despair you are.

    • You get what you paid for.

  • Really tempted, this or the Chuwi Hi10 pro? Similar price.
Gearbest even sells for 228 With keyboard.

  • I got one for some reason. Don't really need it but do we ever really need anything? Aliexpress is such a bs site though. I kept getting 'Sign up to receive $5' popups everytime I went to the site but when I signed up it said sorry we've run out! Also some bs $5 voucher message on the product page which kept saying I can use upon checkout but nothing really came up. Anyway thanks OP good find.

Guys I would avoid these tablet. They sound great on paper but they are crap. WiFi keep dropping in and out. Battery drain very fast. You get roughly about 4 hrs out of it. Not to mention it get hot after an hr of gaming. Surfing the net is fine still warm thou.

    • Thanks for the heads up, just cancelled my order. Might wait for something a bit more reliable.

      • +1

Reliable things exist, just not at this price.

    • +2

exactly my points, but i got negs above.

      • Agree with the points you made mate thanks

That's why even if I'm tempted, I read all the reviews I can first and never buy on pre-order

        • i just wanted to warn the specs on paper doesnt always translate correctly, for these chinese gadgets brands. thats all. ofcourse it is cheaper than flagship brands.

  • this is a good price anyway… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/275442
