2017 Velobici Boot'r V2 Anodised Aluminium Balance Kids Bike Blue $64.95 (Save $135) @ Letour

210

Bought this balance bike today for the toddler waddle and thought it was a good deal.

Been doing research and it looks identical to this Cruzee brand which is $149.99. I'm not 100% sure but it looks pretty close even when you look at the photos used and when you look at the tiny details.

    2017 Velobici Boot'r V2

Wow, they even time travelled to bring it to us at this price! :/

Forgive the negativity but this is a real bugbear of mine; labelling stuff as the next year when there's still a decent chunk of the current year to go. Sales technique that is obsolete in modern marketing IMO.

They don't have your temporal prejudice in the future…in 2017 they've eliminated timeism, and people from all time periods are treated equally! ;)

Thinking about prejudice in the future will make me tense - future tense!

Given letour are the only retailers of this bike
    I dont believe the discount
    Looks like marketing to me

    • Yep, was in the market for one, couldn't find any info or other retailer of this balance bike. Looked at this a few weeks ago and price was similar so I'm assuming it's the normal price with an inflated rrp. Ended up getting a Strider Sport.

      • Very happy with this one

It's a bit smaller, so you can get them started younger.

Was a slow start with it at age 2 but it suddenly clicked for her once she saw a slightly older kid zooming around on it.

With this as a basis, moving up to a bike with pedals removed, then gradually swapping back and forth between balancing vs pedals and training wheels, she was fully riding a real bike without training wheels while she was still 3.

        Highly recommend.

    Pedals not included !

i don't quite understand why people buy balance bikes for $$$$$
just buy a second hand kids bike off gumtree for $10, take off the pedals, and you have a balance bike…

once your kids learn how to balance, put the pedals back on and you have a real bike again, don't need to waste $$$

Height of the saddle and overall frame for one. Proper bikes aren't designed from the ground up to be somewhat protective for kids whilst they learn how to balance (no bolts to scrape legs on, chains, gears or hubs to get tangled up in). Have you tried this technique for a 2 year old?

      • good points, and I think if anything under 2, then a balance bike is a must, because it is much safer - I did this with my kids when they were between 2-3….
they turned out fine, I think :)

        • They're also exceptionally light in comparison. Much better for carrying back bike after toddler refuses to ride and your stranded far from home :-)

    • I hope you mean the cranks and not just the pedals. A free swinging piece of metal on either side wouldn't be very safe.

Actually you make sense. The only think are the isues mentioned by the two above.

In reality (it's Ozbargain) then a secondhand balance bike is far better, these you can also pick up cheaply, as once mastered, they are no longer needed. Most are in like new condition. And you are saving the envirionment from less pollution with these ending up in land fill after a few months use.

How a balance bike can cost more than a standard bike, also is amazing. But parents must spend on their kids….

      • Absolutely. Hopefully the kids get off them as soon as possible and onto a pedal bike, so no point spending big on them. My own experience is that a good day can be enough for some kids to get enough confidence on a balance bike to move on to a pedal bike.

That's what I plan on doing.

  • These links talk about balance bikes. Unfortunately they don't review this model, so if it's different from the Cruzee there's an 'unknown' factor.

        • @wiz187:

          What's the quality like?

        • +1

@jjsnacks: Mine arrived yesterday also. It's very light! Wheels were bigger than I was expecting. The assembly instructions that came with it are useless, I had to rely purely on the diagram. I also found it very very hard to get the quick release for the handlebar tight enough to keep it in place. The labels are just clear stickers so can probably be pulled off if you don't like the branding.

$65 is about right for the price, anything more would be too much.

        • @jjsnacks: unopened as is a xmas gift, sorry.
