Please do not forget that in case of eBay you are receiving an instant discount / saving, but in case of going through their website, you are receiving a store credit, which you need to spend anyway (probably buying the goods you do not need), so it's not the same effectively ;)
You are right, that's the thing with GCs…For a saving of $82.80 vs Ebay instant discount, for some it might be worth it if they can spent it on another special in Dec.
There are + and - for either option. eBay discount is more liquid, but store credit might be preferable if the original purchase is tax-deductible (because the store credit is not visible to the tax man).
Well I guess if they don't honour it, you could always give them the cold shoulder?
