Maybe good for some people, but can't see many students affording a $90 phone plan

can't afford a $90 phone plan but can afford $80K car.

Sounds like a high yield investment ;)

can't afford a $90 phone plan but can afford $80K car.

        You're thinking of International Students.

    • Mate, I believe anyone can avail the student discount…as long as you have an email with .edu even before the @.

      • Just tried this and it didn't work

    • When I was a student just a decade ago, $90 was my whole monthly grocery budget let alone spare money for phone plans, albeit not an international student — wait for the 4 Yorkshiremen quotes…

Actually this is a pretty good deal, for iSheep who travel or have family o/s. Most of the international students I know buy their phones outright and then just pay by the month, so they are free to swap sims when they travel home. The wealthier ones all the moreso, and always have the latest phones at least on the day they are released or before Australia.

trust me, at least there are many international students being able to afford this kind of deal.

  • i thought student discount is 10% off original plan price.
    e.g. Iphone 7 32 GB - $88/month

The included IDD calls are to 32 countries, not 10.

    • SELECTED COUNTRIES INCLUDE:
Austria, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA and Vietnam. 'yes' International rates apply for excess and non-included usage. See optus.com.au/international.

      • 32 countries as I said. I have the older version of this same plan (18GB data)

So, the only verification they're doing for the EDU plans is that they check if your email address is a .edu address? No student ID verification?

    • +1

      No verification.

  • Is there any way to obtain edu.au email if you are not a student?

    • Keen to know too as well
How about those tassie Uni courses were posted before - did anyone tried them ?

      • it works. I tried about a month ago and received a promo code with no issue

  • Why does it work out to be $105/month for iphone 7plus 128GB. Shouldnt it be, $101/month.
$111/month on the offer. This includes $11 for the phone. So 10% of $100 for the plan is $90. Plus $11 back for the phone comes to $101. How did they get $105 ?

    • Something wrong with the site - should be $101 (90+11 with student discount) and it is until the end of the checkout when it reverts to $105. Same problem with the 32gig.
