Microsoft Surface Pro 3 128GB i5 Tablet $998 @ JB HI-FI

61

Was looking at the Pro 4's which still seem to be having some issues. Then found JB have the Pro 3 on runout at $998 for the i5 (about $350 less than the Pro 4). Have a lot of friends with the Pro 3 and haven't had any problems so ordered one and the cover.

You can also get the type cover for $79 in black:

My pro 3 is still going great guns!! I got mine for this price when it first came out, so a very good price for a great device.

" I got mine for this price when it first came out, so a very good price for a great device."
sorry if it was at this price when first came out so this price/this post is VERY BAD, correct? as the price is still the same after what, a year?

Cool story but unlikely unless you got student price and then some discount or you bought the i3

        • -2

          RRP was $1209

        • No he's right. I bought two at $997 each from JB's on 08/01/2015 same specs

        • Can confirm, I too got mine at this price January 2015, pricematched with JB when Harvey Norman had this deal

Probably bought before the tanking AUD was reflected on the RRP.

        • @WiseUp: Not quite on release though. I got mine in September 2014.

        • Harvey norman had a great deal that hasn't been repeated since, was about $995 or so for the i5 4gb. An absolute bargain at the time.

are you kidding almost a grand for older model.

  • i must be one of the lucky ones, my pro4 has been running like a dream for months. (touchwood)
decent enough deal for a 3, still a very solid machine even if an older model.

    • I have a sp3 i7 model. The fan comes on and gets hot quick doing light tasks. Major issues with wifi. Although it looks like a solid build and at a price you'd expect high quality, it's got a few let downs.
Screen quality and performance are great tho.

While technically I can't beg because I can't find a better deal, this does seem a bit expensive as this is an older (yet still perfectly fast) model.

Also the lenovo/hp spectre has been selling for $750/800.

  • Surface Pro owners, don't forget the power cord recall https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-au/support/warranty-ser…

Mine broke on the weekend, the exact issue described in the link above. Got new cable today.

It's almost 2 generations old, since Surface Pro 4 is an old model as well (over one year old, probably would see newer model fairly soon, next year Q1 likely).
Don't get me wrong, it's alright (I own SP3), but if I were in a market for a new 2 in 1, I'd probably wait for Surface Pro 5's release and get Pro 4 or 5.
Also, 4GB RAM is very limiting (more so than the 128GB SSD).

  • JBHIFI is not honest, Agree?

If it's any help, I don't trust the ATO much , either!

  • With a quick Google search I found the Surface Pro 4 (Overseas stock) cheaper than this from N1 Wireless

The prices looks too good to be true and the store has no Paypal option. Also the reviews for the store aren't good either. So holding back.

There were few deals from the store rep posted on OZB previously but none seems to have bought from them.

Anyone care to share their experience with the store?

P.S. I am desperately looking for a decent 2 in 1 as my $500 MBA from Kogan's deal a couple of years back died on me last week and Apple's quote for repair is more than what I paid for it.

Edit: Just found that these are refurbished

    • Looks like $699 US dollars to me which would make much more sense. US company, .com & no mention of A$.

      • I did select AUD as currency. Pretty sure the price is in A$.
