Nespresso Citiz & Milk Capsule Coffee Maker $349 + $30 GC + $70 Cashback (Stack $100 AMEX Statement Credit) @ Harvey Norman

100

Okay, bear with me because it's a little convoluted. This deal has been posted previously, but I believe that was an older model for $30 more. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/273638

Coffee Machine is $349 in store
Price match TGG for $299 (tell them to up to $300)
- $70 Cashback from Nespresso
- $30 GC for Harvey Norman
- $100 AMEX Statement credit for $300 spend if it's saved to your card

$100 for a $349 machine of decent repute

Comes with 16 pods and I'm told it can use cheaper Aldi pods.

This might need to be removed if it's not enough of a reliable deal. I just did it though and it went through fine. HN have a price match guarantee so it's not dodgy or anything.

  • Hmm I got a BEC650MC from that older deal which is the older model I though. Certainly not a brand new model as the samples had expired. Not sure how that happened. Was $299 - $70 - $100 (no gift card then) without the price match.

Anyway wife likes it well enough although she's not very picky.

    • Oh, really? I had believed it was the older model based on the link no longer working, the lower initial price, and one random dude in the comments section (my most reliable source). I might be wrong.

Glad to hear she likes it. I'm also pretty not fussy about coffee but it's a super trek from my work to the nearest not-terrible coffee place.

      • Yes there's a BEC600… and BEC650… but not clear what's new and what's old exactly but 650 would make sense to be newer.

So basically a slightly better deal as the old one with the gift card but after the price match.

        • Yeah tbh I'm skeptical on a 650 being any noticeable improvement on a 600. Especially with small appliances.

  • Aldi Pods Expressi Coffee Capsules, anyone knows it can be use on Nespresso machine?

    • No

Price matched this model but wasn't allowed $30 HN gift card as a result.

Hm. That's unfortunate. Maybe it's at the store's discretion.

I'd be pissed if I didn't get the gift card. It's on their website.

It on their website, with a machine price as $349….

It'd be store discretion as to whether you get a gift card, as well as an extra $50 off by price matching. I don't think you can really be annoyed if you don't get the card.

        • Right. You're not matching like for like unless the other store offered a gift card too.

  • Had a friend ask me "which coffee machine?" the other day - budget was $300. Reckon a pod machine is the way to go for this budget?

Those low end Brevilles/Sunbeams are a PITA for consecutive coffees, having to wait for the pressure to dissipate, plus their steamers take forever.

Thinking at least pods are sealed, because unless he buys a grinder as well, preground coffee goes stale way too quickly after opening.

Having owned several pod, pre-ground and bean based machines I have to admit that its hard to go past the ease of the pod and as such it has become our daily drive whilst our other coffee maker sits mostly idle. The problem used to be that Nestle put rubbish quality coffee in the actual pod and then sold it at a premium. However with so many aftermarket pods available now it is unlikely you won't be able to find a pod that suits your taste. Just make sure whatever machine you get is compatible with the normal nespresso pods and not the different ones that come with the dolce gusto machine, the Lavazza or MAP machines unless you specifically want to use the pod. Also note that sometimes the aftermarket pods are slightly smaller than the legit pods and thus can mean you have to fiddle a bit to seat them correctly. ;)

Note: In the interest of full disclosure, I worked for Lavazza for a few months whilst studying at Uni several years ago repping/demonstrating machines based on their pods :)
