Yeah that's an interesting point. I suspect PayPal just give back a token that the transaction is approved but not the amount?

        • Yeah. I expect their T&Cs don't hold them liable either, which really questions the value of PP in the first place. If i had a screen shot of the value, I would pursue it further.

  • Tried for the Pi but ended up buying the TV box. One Christmas gift sorted out.

    • +3

      Hold your horses.
For next Xmas maybe, do not expect it be delivered before Jan.
      Or just delivered…

      • +2

Got both my TV box and Smart watch delivered before Christmas and both are working great.

        • Congrats. Thats great it was so quick

        • @Pest85:

          Why did you neg?

  • +2

Thanks for the TV Box Gearbest :-)

    And

    Ozbargain of course!!

  • So, just to muck around I tried to put in the expired code for the Elephone P9000 4G Phablet , and when I do the price goes up from 306 to 356… what's that all about???

  • +2

Releasing codes on Ozbargain … I couldn't reload the page for 10min.
This happens when Ozbargain tries to be clickfrenzy :-(

  • +4

Dodgy business practices.. what a flop. Nearly got done like others have posted but luckily checked first.

  • Ozbargain Mods, today was the real test of your hosting servers that failed miserably.

  • For all of the items supposedly not sold out, I still get the error message "Coupon can only be used from 2016-11-21 to 2016-12-18
Code for single unit price only; VIP Price, Special Offer or Group Deal all exempt."

My prices go up when I apply these coupons. I've emailed gearbest, but I expect whoever was able to get past the buggy system will have bought all the discounted items before I get a reply.

    • What codes are you even trying? I get that error on items NOT available yet, like the Asus Zenfone or Xiaomi earphones, which are available at 4pm.

    • I tried using their mobile app and got this error

  • +8

    Dear ozbargainers,

Here are the screenshot of order situation:
For Raspberry Pi Model 3B - Chinese Version: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/73294/44173/ozbpi.png

    • +2

And people still find ways to complain…

      • -2

Can you please tell me how doxxing users is not a serious concern?

        • +3

Can you explain why you think it's a serious concern?

    • -4

What is this meant to show us?

      • +3

20 pis was sold in 1s, so good luck ;)

    • -3

Still see purchases made from Ukraine and Greece….

      • +1

        I see 4 orders for !!.85 Numbers 5 8 11 &12 one of those is mine

As for the Greece and Ukraine orders, You do realise that peopel from OS can access and see codes on Ozbargain

        So the point is?

    • -2

      One order from Greece :D

  • I would love to have the Raspberry Pi Model 3B available again.
Even if it was for $20 + more stock.

I managed to apply the coupon, but when Paypal loaded, it switched back to the original price.

  • +13

The amount of butt hurt self entitled users on here is painful.

    • +1

      Absolutely

  • +2

    not worth it at all

  • +2

Really disappointed about the Pi. Was literally about to checkout when I decided to check the price and it jumped to $60+.

  • So seeing I missed out on a Raspberry Pi as I screwed up the start time being in SA, any recommended places to buy a Raspberry Pi? I'll probably want to get a small touch screen also with the aim to run a plex server on there.

  • I really wish I found where the codes were, (in the middle of the post???). On the other hand, at least I didn't pay full price.

  • -5

please do not try to change the domain name to scambargain.com.au

Just not worth after all these 10 years………………

    • Can you explain why you think it's a scam when GB have made it clear how many units are available? I see a lot of successful purchases.

  • +1

You people should have learned from the last DX 50% deals. This kind of promotion is nothing but BS.

  • Complicated checkout and sold out instantly.
On the bright side, it's easy to pick out the codes for tomorrow/day after's deals - might give you that slight edge to beat the rest.

    • might give you that slight edge to beat the rest.

And then another 200 will complain because they were beaten to the deal by the "smarties"

Its going to be a lottery which ever way. I have played these before and never won. This time my number was up. My son who told me of the deal, was on the phone with me and he missed out even though he announced the code before i saw it.

Now he wants it from me when it arrives LOL

  • Hi op
What to do after being charged full amount ?
Please confirm already asked you before

    • +2

Let me ask my colleague from operation department.

  • +13
    • +6

Hey dont vote it down clowns, that hides it from view, some people might want to see it. Make a negative comment or abuse the poster, but voting it down achieves nothing.

    • +2

If this sale for australia and ozbargain specific, Why couldnt you fix up the codes for australian addresses and IPS only?????

  • I will say that I usually opt out of these kinds of sales just because of the high probability of disappointment and issues… having said that, I guess it's better to know that the sales are out there even if you do not act.

  • +1

Quantity of 1 (or 20 for that matter) is a competition, not a deal.

  • +4

Yes, I don't understand all the crying. It's cool there's a chance to nab a bargain, even if the odds are slim. If you don't like it, go buy another packet of eneloops. :p

  • +2

The transaction process should differ if one part of the transaction becomes invalid, be it the coupon no longer being available or the items being out of stock.

Putting an extra page to confirm that they are happy with the updates to their order. At the moment nothing is highlighted and updates are being made to the order details without informing the updated offer to the buyer.

This is not about buyer being careful or anything, it's about client experience. If anything customers are more anxious during these times already, that customers are more likely to overlook small details.

    • +2

Good to know the guy who got the phone is from Australia. Lucky bastard didnt even show himself.

      • They might not even be an Ozbargain member so how could they.

    • +2

Must suck to be the guy who was charged $50.27 for the $29.40 TV box after using your $10 OZBTV code.

      http://i.imgur.com/xXxQijR.png

      • I think he bought more than 1…because the express delivery cost ~$8 and it's in US$.
If that's the case, it's 20 orders not 20 items.

Btw, most offers lasted less than 1-2min.

      • maybe he bought 5?

  • +2

Ok, got my refund after going through the live chat

  • +2

    wastehistime2016

  • No deals on 3d printers?

  • +2

    ***Store of the year 2016
Gearbest has received the highest number of Negative votes among the all stores in Ozbargain… LOL

It is time to consider banning again. (permanently this time)

I've done "live chat" and requested for the full refund. They promised me to refund within 48 hrs.
I'll update again if I don't get it by that time frame

  • Waaow…94 Negative votes for these deals so far. Gearbest gace away thousands of dollars stuff for $10 and got 94 Negative votes. Come on guys, have a heart. If you couldnt acquire a deal (like myself), Please dont vote negative for the deals

    • People like me ended up paying $65 (did get a refund) so I'm sure they make some money this too.

    • +9

It's not the fact I didn't get it at the discounted price.

It's the fact that Paypal said $13.

Then GearBest confirmed the order at $49.05.

But PayPal says I was charged $62.

This was all in the space of 1 minute. I have yet to hear back from [email protected].

      • You can't be charged more than the total displayed at the PayPal checkout.

        • +1

I'm not sure that's true. I've had the total go up after PayPal checkout (at another place a number of times) after shipping was added on the final step of the site's own checkout.

        • +2

Paypal said $13.xx so I clicked Pay. I was taken back to the merchant and shown the top image here: http://i.imgur.com/AmYC1go.png

The bottom image is my paypal when I checked.

        • @thevofa: True, I have experienced the same, asking myself how on earth that should be permitted by Paypal.

      • +3

@SnowDragon It happened with me as well. On their website, on Paypal, both confirmed it as $13ish.
But then in the actual email confirmation I received from Gearbest AND Paypay was the original charge.

Went through their live service and cancelled my order and got a full refund. waste of my time though.

        • +1

          How do you cancel it?

The live chat is for pre sales.

Unless you just go ahead anyway…

        • there was an option for after sales that I choose. Opened up an little chat box and I asked them to cancel my order using the order number received from my email inbox.

      • +1

Just got the Xiaomi earbuds, everything through to the final page said $13.xx and then the next page says it was $38.xx and PayPal says they've taken $44.xx !!!! All in AUD btw.

  • +1

It is way easier to run a deal than to manage people's expectations.

  • Hi GearBest, did you know the "Sort By:" $High to Low doesnt work properly? It still sorts by Low to high.

    • +1

It seems more random than high to low. I thought maybe it was sorting by regular price instead of current price.

      • Yeah on closer look seems to be fairly random. But high to low def not working.

Assume it's to do with the real price not the display price.

I can see why GB has 94 negs… lol

  • +3

One more negative vote for me. When ordered it listed $13.xx, but when checked the order detail, they charge $49.05. Why shouldn't this be a fraud ?

    Vote to ban it permanently.

    • +1

Ban for sure…this is very upsetting

  • Quantity for these items is too low.

  • +2

Last time Gearbest had a sale like this I got all the way through to the checkout, and paid for the item at the discounted rate, then after I confirmed everything the last page, after processing the payment jumped to the normal price. Tried getting it cancelled immediately, but they processed it 2-3 days later anyway even after saying they would cancel it. Ended up loosing $20 for some reason in the refund as well. Total bait BS.

I've shopped with Gearbest before without problems, but you really have to be careful with their flash sales.

  • +1

Disapprove of the way ozbargain is going if you allow reps to post rubbish like this, clearly in breach of what we reasonably expect. If you do indeed want to allow this then community should be allowed to neg away without having to justify why.

  • I grabbed two Nitecore MT2A. Guys I do not know why you are complaining about that somebody from Ukraine or Greece takes part in the promo. I am from Poland and participate in it too. We also belongs to the community. Gearbest has not said that the promo is for Australians only.

    • To make sure OzBargainers have the best chance to ge these deals, we will only revealing the coupon codes each day. During our 11/11 event, most coupons were used by Russian and some other customers, so we need do this to avoid that.

      • I am not Russian. I also have not use any coupon during 11/11 sale, so I want to get some nice items here.

        • most coupons were used by Russian and some other customers, so we need do this to avoid that.

      • To make sure OzBargainers

"OzBargainers" ≠ Australians. It is probably a much more diverse community than most realise.

        • At the very least It's primary for people in Australia. And besides it wasn't a question about our community, It's obvious this sale is for people in Australia in celebration for a site made for deals in Australia. To me that was pretty obviously conveyed in the OP's message quoted above.

        • @Zylam Marex:

The sale is for members of OzBargain, nowhere does it state this is Australians only. Sure, primarily for Australians, as that is the largest user base, but there are also a large number of international community members.

    • +2

      Do you have a pony?

  • +1

I don't know I should even attempt to go for the phone. Everyone here is saying the full price thing happens when after PayPal confirms it for US 10.

I think that is beyond the line, if you are going to be running a flash sale like this, why don't you have a separate check out for this sale where if you miss out it doesn't process an order for full price.

Ozbargain Mods are usually pretty strict with these kinds of things, I'm not sure how they let this one in. When most of your community is complaining for being charged full price, there's a problem there.

    • -2

Most likely getting paid, thats the only possible reason for rubbish from gearbest to be on this site

      • Yea, there is definitely another agenda here.

  • +5

Clearly this is a click bait, people were charged full amount even when the payment page confirmed differently.
Those kind of flash sales, specially from GearBest, should be banned.

  • they must set the quantity to what they are offering actually. its a big mis understanding

  • +3

This has been the most exciting deal on OzB in a while! I wonder who'll give the 100th neg?

    • +1

does this mean I'm the only one that got something out of this sale?

      • +1

LOLOLOL you do know you negatived the deal yes?

        • +2

yeah, just trying to lighten up the mood haha

        • +1

@Rick Sanchez: haha yea, this thread needs a little cheering up!

  • Oh well those who missed out on the Raspberry PI, they have the English version pi 3b for ~$47

    http://www.gearbest.com/raspberry-pi/pp_488334.html?wid=21

    • I got one at the discount pricr, however like I mentioned before in the sea of posts, they were listed as on backorder and have been since 7am….

      • +1

Ah sorry, i skipped 7 pages of disappointment :-)

        • Not your fault, I don't want to read the 7 pages of scam and bullshit posts either.

  • +5

Gearbest always causing some controversy. This was doomed to fail from the start.

In their defense, I've always had good experiences with gearbest and this is how the 11/11 sales worked. So I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume this sale was not done in bad faith.

I suggest next time they simply do a competition where Ozbargainers sign up to their website (if they haven't already) and a random one is chosen to receive a coupon code. Everyone enjoys the process and Gearbest is appreciated for contributing to our community.

OP - please take these negs as a learning opportunity for next time.

  • +1

Got charged US$39.95 for the flashlight…. requested a refund which is they said they'll process once my funds have gone to their PayPal. Kind of upset about this

    • +1

Even worst, your credit card may charge you foreign transaction fee and it won't be refunded.
