    Where is it made?

    • +7

Wallets are made in India and China, Watches in China, Tee blanks come from various locations and screen printed in Australia (Gold Coast).

    How about some $10 wallets?

    • +9

I wish I could! That wouldn't cover the shipping (tracked Aus Post) and handling alone unfortunately.

    hi mate,

I'm not getting the free shipping - it's trying to charge me $7. I am trying to buy just the 1 wallet.

I refunded the shipping charges for the few people who put the orders through - should have received an email. Thanks, David

Please read previous comments in this deal if you are thinking about buying their overpriced basic quartz fashion watch.

And at 12pm tomorrow Gearbest have the Megir M2011 for US$10.00 delivered.

Also Timex Weekenders for around $40.00 delivered.

    • +3

neither of those look anything like the Palmera watch so you cant compare that at all.

      • My 1st link has some similar styles for around $10.00, the other 2 are just examples of what you can buy for less.
They aren't totally out of the style though, it's not as though they are dive watches.

The Horse is probably the best match for $7.56 delivered

        • +4

The Horse linked has been taken down (just like the last one someone posted in the other thread).

Regarding your comment that this is a "overpriced basic quartz fashion watch". I agree with the basic quartz fashion watch part, but not the overpriced part. At the supplier selection process I got samples made for one fifth of the cost of this watch with another factory. The materials are cheaper, and build quality is terrible. I dropped the sample from one of the cheaper suppliers from a meter and the thing fell apart. Getting stainless steel, a decent movement, a genuine leather band and proper build quality quickly increases the price you pay.

My margins are tiny (and close to zero at this price point). I hate big markups too. I think also the fact this is lodged within a day or two from Sydney, a generous returns policy, and a 2 year warranty makes this a pretty good deal. I know they aren't popular here which is why I didn't mention them explicitly.

I agree the Timex is a good watch though - I own a few of those.

@aussiemillion: Looks like the horse has bolted gain.

Thanks for the reply, it's nice to hear a Rep stick up for their product. I will retract my comment about it being overpriced, but I guess my main point is that you are in a difficult price bracket as you can get a quartz watch from a reputable watch making brand for around the same money.

I'm sure anyone that buys it will be happy though.

Does card skimming occur regularly on a daily basis? I know it's better to be safe than sorry and get a RFID blocking wallet but do these thefts still occur? Just don't hear about it much.

    • RFID? No.

In theory, it's quite easy with a large powered receptor but its more difficult in practice and also readers are easily confused if you have more than one card stacked ontop of each other.

    • I've never really heard of it happening in Australia but I would be getting one if you were traveling overseas

    • Not sure how prevalent it is - this article peaked our interest about two people getting skimmed in the same shopping centre - http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/crime-court/electro…

From our point of view there isn't really a downside in making it this way as there is great RFID blocking material out there which looks the same and is as thin as regular lining.

    • RF skimming is not the same as someone just getting your credit card number and being able to charge things until you or the bank notices something weird is going on. You shouldn't be able to lose more than the pin-free $100.

That said, RFID blocking doesn't have any downsides at all, so why not?

      • They can always split up the transaction and make multiple purchases

        • I think they'd need to re-skim you for each purchase.

  • Can you tap your Opal card if it's in one of the outer card slots?

    • I'm not sure actually!

I know it blocks the frequency used for chips in passports and credit cards - I'm not sure about Opal cards. I'll have to look into it and report back.

We have non-RFID blocking variants too https://palmeraapparel.com/collections/slim-leather-wallets

It looks like Opal (and most other transit cards) use 13.56Mhz so it will be blocked inside the wallet. It's pretty easy to whip it out from these - but another option is the non-RFID blocking variants linked above which won't require you to take the card out. Thanks, David

Just got a $21 card wallet. Nice and simple. Hopefully the quality is half-decent!

  • David,

Quick Q. Going by the dimensions of the wallet will it fit a mobile in the passport sleeve.
I have an s5 am interested in using this as a wallet and phone holder not wanting something that has magnets, it ruined my last phone.

The height of the s5 is about 8mm smaller and the thichness is about 8.1mm

    • I just measured from seam to seam on the passport sleeve section. It's exactly 143mm (1mm more than the height of the s5). Width not a problem. I'm not sure whether the S5 will fit - may not be enough room when you factor the depth. I'll try and get my hands on one to test today or tomorrow.
      Thanks,
      David

      • Yeah sweet thanks for the info and looking into it. I did a typo and its 0.8mm.

        • I haven't been able to get my hands on one to test unfortunately (surrounded by iPhone users).

Been looking out for a cheap and tiny footprint wallet that still catered to my needs for a while. Looks like the $30 bifold is the one.

    Thanks David!

  • Got the $21 one. It's nice. I left it overnight stuffed with 6 cards to stretch it out a bit. Now it works better getting them in and out. I do wish there was a 4 slot version without rfid blocking. Would be perfect for the bus on one side and my buildings swipe key on the other.

Also the money pocket in the middle is a bit of a challenge to use.

Still though, would definitely recommend it

    • Glad you like it! There is a 4 slot version without RFID blocking. It's got the palm tree embossed on it. https://palmeraapparel.com/collections/slim-leather-wallets - can do you a deal if you drop me a message.

With the notes - I think there is a bit of a trick to it. I fold in half - and leave 1mm of the note sticking up.

      • Isn't the palm tree one a six card version?

I would like to try one of them, but then it's essentially the same size as my mightywallet (while less professional, a lot more versatile). Ugh, decisions decisions

        • The palm tree comes in a 4 card and a 6 card variety. I just didn't link the 4 card in this post as I don't have a whole lot of inventory.
