Officeworks Carnegie is stocking and selling the new chromecast Ultra for $99. I'm pretty sure they haven't released it yet properly but you can definitely pick one up there now. There was about 20 of them on the shelf. Good luck

Yeah. Read about it a few days ago. Not sure if it is really worth it to me as an existing CC2 owner.

Well they said you'd almost have to be an idiot to buy it even if you have a 4K tv. Very scathing review even for a balanced site like ArsTechnica.

I would buy something like a xiaomi mi box at that price as chromecast ultra doesn't even have a remote.
to be fair to google, the chromecast makes sense if its a $35 device that you control with your android phone
makes vastly less sense at $99 but its not their fault our currency sucks
Android boxes and streaming sticks like the chromecast or roku serve different purposes. FWIW, I use my smartphone as the remote when I'm streaming to my old ist gen chromecast.

Your phone/tablet IS the remote. Casting is life.

Watch Lon Seidman review on YouTube he said it doesn't even handle 4K properly. If you look at benchmarks even the old Nexus Player is faster than the Mi Box.

At RRP. it's more like a news rather than a deal.
The only other way to get one of these currently is importing it from the US for about $130. This is the quickest & cheapest way.
