This is not an ADSL modem, but will plug into one to give wireless net through your home/office, and a four port switch/hub built in. Only 802.11g (has WPA2), but still cheap. Bought one for my in-laws today and seems to be working well.

Comes with a CD that will install things really easily with a wizard, or you can login through your browser to http://www.routerlogin.net/ (IP seems to be 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1 if your ADSL modem is using the former) and configure it manually.

There's also a Belkin wireless router that seems very similar and is also $29 here;

  • I've got the non wireless version of this router. Works fine :)

EDIT: from memory is 10/100, not gigabit. no wireless n etc

  • I use this as a simple switch with the added bonus of 802.11g with modest (but acceptable) security. Hasn't missed a beat.

    • has NAT too :)

  • got this version
got it for 49 bucks and that was already a god price 6 months ago

did some reading up on it and some people on whirpool had issues with it
but has been fine for me

  • I have this router. I payed $44 for it and it's pretty good. Relatively easy to set up and gives good range with the wifi.

  • great deal thanks for post. $29 for a backup wireless router with decent specs from a reliable brand cant be beat. i've actually got mostly D-Link products, but plenty of friends very happy with Netgear too. thanks!

  • I went to haymarket and they didnt have any in stock :(

  • -1

Is a good price, but from pass experience I wont get any Netgear routers

    • kinda disagree, i'd say

      1st teir - netgear/linksys/cisco
      2nd teir - Asus/edimax
      3rd teir - Dlink/buffalo/belkin

      but meh, thats my opinion

      • Davo1111: I think Buffalo are 1st tier wrt reception. Functionality included after applying 3rd-party firmware.

    • I agree, I told myself this once before but I fell for it again due to the price and bought a rangemax 2 years ago.

Replaced 4 times in 12 months and still not working properly (wifi is very unstable and only works in certain channels).

First unit's wifi died in less than 30days, got a brand new one from netgear. Wifi died again in 3 months, replaced with a refurbished and so on… until finally i give up I can't afford to pay for the return postage anymore.

    • not a reason to downvote.

  • Great deals but after a round of shopping I bought something else
