Not 1440p, that would mean that the monitor is 16:9 or 2560x1440. That's a 21:9 monitor.

Yes it is, it's 1440 horizontal lines with progressive scan..

You're confusing it with WQHD, whereas this would be UWQHD.

      • with progressive scan

progresive scan has nothing at all to do with modern computer screens. It's nonsense to use notation like 1440p or mention that a screen is progressive because it's like saying the screen is hysterical. It don't make no sense.

        • I didn't create the standard, I agree, it's stupid to have it there when it comes to screen resolution these days.

It's nice to know… that eventually, one day, something like this - or better - will be on my home desk :)

Crikey! This thing costs more than my laptop itself!

There is a serious lack of brand competition in this monitor field which means Acer and Asus can charge these exorbitant prices.

      • Ye, the high end monitor prices are still insane.

Hopefully, it will eventually come down like SSD has over the years but I'm not so optimistic as 1080p 23-24" has really solidified itself as "the standard" form factor.

I'm still waiting for the prices to go down but I would rather put my money on high end graphics first!

        • Yer but what's the point of high end graphics if your only pushing out 1080p. Need to match it to a higher res/refresh rate to make the most of it.

    • for those who are willing to play a risky game can try an off-brand Korean monitor like Qnix.

usually sold on eBay as that's where the middlemen are

  • still too small, wish they'd make larger ultra wide screens
Edit: aware they make 38" ultra wide, wonder if I can find one on sale

    • How far away are you sitting that you need bigger?

    • Have you actually used one of these in person? They are gigantic.

      • I use a Dell 30" and 2560x1600. As I've gotten used to 1600 horizontal lines, I can't get used to anything smaller. At this stage I've been researching 4K UHD TV's as a potential replacement for my Dell U3011. Only thing holding me back is potential screen tearing and dirty screen effect.

I do love the wideness, I just wish they had more vertical lines

Tried the ASUS version of this screen. Back-lighting bleed / glow was awful on two units. Got a refund. Black colours were orange tinted when playing games or watching movies about 10cm in from left and right edges.

Would not buy on of these screens. Wait for HDR compliant screens. They will not have the backlight bleed / glow.

    • I got the LG one a couple of weeks ago and it's amazing.

    • Yeah read some bad things about the Asus one and their QA being crap. Hopefully the Acer one is better.

  • Wish this was $1000
