Can anybody comment on the quality of this power bank? I'm dubious of anything with 'poo' in the name…

Ask yourself why they dropped the price so dramatically. If its too good to be true …

      • Yes, very true. I managed to find some reviews and they're not too bad.

        • The question is how long the li-ion cells will last. It may have no-name chinese cells with poor life.

          @nocure:

LG grade A Li-ion polymer cell and premium microchips create high-quality portable charger.(techbuy.com.au)

Looking at the product, it clearly contains 18650 cylindrical cells. To refer to them as "polymer" sets my bullshit detector on high alert. And WTF are "premium microchips"? Lets not be gullible. Techbuy just cut and pasted that with no questions.
If they are genuine LG cells, thats good, but how do you tell?

All the info i could find….

          @nocure:
Its just that I buy a lot of cheap no-name junk to play with, and decided that you really want a known-brand quality item for flash memory cards, and batteries. The failure rate and over-speccing of chinese batteries is high. Though I do think the danger of them failing pyrotechnically is overstated. They just die quietly.

          Xiomi is cheap and respected.

        • @manic:
thats true. I have had a few puff out and that can be messy if they burst.
Cheap quality + batteries = bad idea

@manic: The only way to be sure is to open the little beggar up and check if they're telling pork pies.

        • @manic: was thinking the same thing… Calling 18650 cells 'polymer' really sets off the bullshit detector….

        • xiaomi can be cheap because they will make cents on each product and sell 100,000,000 on them. and over the life of the products the prices will come down.

      • The logical reason would be because it was overpriced, they didn't sell any, and it's this now a clearance line.

These guys make a whole range of quality PC peripherals.
I have 1 of their small BT keyboards and it works a treat.
You will find that places like HN, JB etc. stock their peripherals and if they were too problematic they'd have ditched them by now.
As for the price, they had to be kidding right?
I'd take a Xiaomi powerbank over this (we have a few) for the same $$ let alone 2x the price.
This is about what you should be paying for this device, not such a bargain but OK for local retailer price.

      • So are these guys on the same level as Logitech?

        • Simply put…no.
However, they are one of the more recognised Asian brands and have a retailer presence in Oz.
So rather than buying cheap who flung dung brands out of China (or from China via Kogan branding) and wearing the consequences, at least buying Rapoo products in Oz means you're covered by the ACL if it all goes to crap.

I have this power bank, its just like every other power bank and at this price def worth lol.

I have a 5 dollar Rapoo mouse and it's not bad.

Not sure about the power banks but if the cells are genuine Lg and not CrappyFire, that's a lot better than buying some unknown generic from Kogan.

    104000 mah is ALOT

  • -6

sounds like they are made in sweatshops out the back of 7/11s in spare time
"Rapoo" a name you can trust…

This brand is quite good, I have the wireless kb and mouse and I could confirm the quality. Definitely not the same as cheapo products

  • Sounds like the perfect use for my second TGG $25 credit. $19 + $5 delivery = free powerbank in my mailbox!

      Min $50 spend…

      • +2

Nah, they say that but it's not enforced. Try it, your purchase will go through - I already have

        • +2

can second this, got my order accepted for $24 shipped, paid for purely by the store credit. previous store credit was put toward a $29 powerboard… i guarantee they just say min $50 spend just to off-put those looking to get things "free"

        • -2

Isnt the credit expired by now…

        • Just tried both my codes, and both say invalid.

        • @theduncan: same

        • Depends when you signed up for the promo. I was later doing it and my second code didn't expire until 6-Dec. Order went through yesterday: http://i.imgur.com/28oZ3X1.png

I have it, it charges at an okay level but will definitely fork out more cash for the Xiaomis Quick Chargers…hang on, why are you guys even conidering rapoo? A thousand xiaomi deals later and you're all still lacking a charger?

    • +1

Because last xiaomi deal I noticed I didn't think I had a need for one.
