  • "mandable" now THAT is s stupid brand name

    • I didn't know what it means at first too - but found the description - "Custom Tailored for Big Men".

        I immediately thought year 10 biology - mandible = insect jaw

        • I did a dictionary search too :-) Not an English word! Closest is "mandible".

          @bluesky:
          Oh hang on, ALL animals lower jaws, not just insects;

        • +1

          @King Tightarse: Ah, then resembling "mandible" may be deliberate - to invoke the "big-jawed", macho man. Like Thor, Arnold Schwarzeneggar :-)

        • @bluesky:
          Well maaaaybe, but I dont think that would invoke such a thought in your average punter.
          I really cant imagine how their "creative" team came up with that. Sounds also a tiny bit gay too with the "able" suffix like adorable, edible etc.
          Does not make me think "AH, tall and big men's clothes".

          @King Tightarse: True, the brand name is definitely open to interpretation :-), does not easily suggest wear for Big Men.

    Rivers. Where all the crap ends up at the end of the line.
    It used to be a good brand, many years ago. Now the local stores just full of odd sizes, odd styles, one offs, and just generally full of crap probably dumped from other stores.
    Lucky to find anything decent there at all…..and they not exactly cheap for the quality/style/comfort.

    • I reckon with Rivers, rather than shop in-store, it is better to find something at a real good price online, and purchase it. One good thing is that they are very accommodating with exchanges/refunds in store.

      So during the last sale, I bought some winter boot warmers for $6, it was a bit small, I went in-store, and since they did not have that particular one in a larger size, they just exchanged me another pair of a nicer fashion/size/colour, which costed more. No issues at all, even suggested by the store person. So I was very happy.

      Well said. Rivers is a store where there is a lot of stuff, but not much worth buying.
