  • Those of you living in WA, any tips of which Coles actually stock these cards? No luck with the ones in Innaloo and Midland..

    • I found them at Whitfords last time but you have to look hard, staff had no idea of their existence and they were on the bottom row near the floor of a circular rack at the service counter.

    • +3

The following definitely stock the card (but not all of them had stock of the $50 dollar cards last time the sale was on)

      Beeliar
      Claremont
      Cockburn Central
      Dianella
      Dog Swamp
      Hamilton Hill
      Kalamunda
      Kardinya
      Mirrabooka
      Northlands
      Raine Square
      Subiaco
      Waterford Plaza

      …I need help

      • Thanks mate! Will check out some of those near me…

Gotta say, you are hardcore, driving all the way to Cockburn and Kalamunda trying to land this deal..:)

        • a couple of those were from the forum posts on last deal, but I did drive to way too many stores myself :P

  • +5

Why not just buy at Woolworths right now??? Same deal and discounted wish e gift card arrives within a few hours and no restriction on number of cards per transaction (up to max of under $500 if self checkout to avoid manual approval)

    • +1

I’m assuming that this deal works with fly buys?

      • Flybuys velocity status credit does say gift card excluded though, although I did get Flybuy points for these transactions. If you are looking from monetary value point of view, Woolworths dollar is exactly the same as Flybuys

    • yeh in the t@c it doesnt say you cant purchase gift cards so thats a good one to remember

    • Thanks, added to post.

    • +1

Because there is none at Woolworths from day one. They are just making it up. I went to almost 10 different Woolie on day 1 of the offer and even the very remote one has no stock !!

      • +1

Well.. Same can be said for Coles too unfortunately, this is a new card and so the stock level is a hit and miss across Australia.

        • +1

I went to two Woolworths, the first one had 6, but the second one had heaps of cards (more than 40 I assume, in 4 columns)

    • Because the discount is upfront and not for use on your next purchase.

      • +1

Split your transactions at Woolies and its almost as good as discount upfront.. Also the other thing to consider is you may not be able to buy gift card with your discounted Coles gift card, whereas Woolies it's 14.5% compounding discount with the discounted egift cards

    • You got a link to the woolies deal? I cannot for the life of me find any on their website…

      • Gift cards can only be found in-store, whether it's Coles or Woolies

        • They usually advertise their offers. I cannot see any 10% off in latest Woolworths catalogue. All I can see is bonus points offer on gift cards.

        • +2

@Buddy195: The bonus points are equivalent of 10% off, eg $50 gift card will earn you 1000points = $5 Woolworths dollars. To maximise your Woolworths dollar usage, you can buy say 9 cards in one go, which will earn you $45 Woolworths dollars. Then you buy your 10th $50 card and $40 will be taken off (Woolworths dollars can only be redeemed in multiples of $10),so you pay $10 and you would have also earned another $5, which means $10 Woolworths dollars will be available for redemption for your next purchase.

        • @feihong:
          Hi feilong
          Do the points appear immediately?
I'm planning to buy $2k worth with the 5% e gift card. Will that work?
Don't wanna risk unleashing on a MacBook and be left with $2k worth of ultimate kids cards

        • @badabing: yes and yes

        • @feihong:
If I want to buy around 65 x $50 worth of these, what will be the best way to buy the $50 cards at the checkout to get the biggest discount?
e.g. should I buy 9 lots of $50 then 1 and repeat? sorry for being a noob

        • @Koey: Then I would suggest you keep buying 9 cards each time, and the very last card in a separate transaction in the end.

        • @feihong: Thanks :)

        • how is everyone getting the cards in stock?

Town Hall here in NSW is out of stock
Coles in Pyrmont dont sell the cards for tomorrow

    • @feihong: how long do the egift cards usually take to arrive in email? I just bought over 2k worth and realised the woolworths bonus point promotion for gift cards ends today…. FML

      • few hours

        • its been about 5 hours so far…. I just hope they come through before 9ish

        • @Koey: did the egift care arrive in time?? Mines usually arrive within 2-3 hrs using cashrewards or entertainment book.

        • @feihong: no, still hasn't arrived. I used cashrewards - any chance woolies gift card promo will still work today?

        • @Koey:

          It ended last night.

  • so these can be bought in store as well as online??

    • No gift cards are ever sold online on supermarkets' website

      • ok. so rock up to my local coles from thursday and i should be able to purchase? looking for babies r us gift cards but buying it at coles with my amex edge gives me 3 points per dollar. the 10% off would be a great bonus!

        • Yes, but as I said before, if you are not fussed with the flybuys points (0.5% roughly and the potential associated velocity status credit), then you can purchase your discounted wish gift card from say cash rewards (thereby earning 3 points per $1 spend on platinum edge), and then use that egift card to buy the ultimate Kids gift card at Woolworths, which works out to be 10% off too.

        • +2

          Starts Wednesday btw (not thursday)

        • @feihong:

          thanks heaps!

          ok so to clarify..

i go to cash rewards, buy the discounted wish gift card (definitely still eligible for 3 amex points per dollar on plat edge??), then use the gift card to buy the ultimate kids gift card at woolies, which is also 10% off at present?

what about if i need larger denominations (instead of $50) on the ultimate kids gift card. any way around this?

        • @bkx3virgin:no way around it, but you can certainly pay by split payments (that's what I did).

  • Thinking about buying a PS4 Pro once the price drops perhaps post Xmas sales… should i take the plunge now and buy gift cards now assuming JB will have a fair deal by then?

    • I can't see the price dropping after Christmas, but if you've got the vouchers with the 10% off, you can wait and see what happens. Not many good deals around on the pro at the moment from what I've seen..

      • What's the expiry date of the GCs? I don't like giving people money up front and then struggling to find something to spend it on as it gets close to expiry because that store doesn't have any good bargains. I usually end up buying crap I didn't want or need, because they were about to expire.

        • 12 months

        • Can't u just buy another set of gift cards with your existing gift cards if it nears expiry and u don't have anything you to buy or gift cards can only be purchased with money?

  • +1

Can i use multiple gift cards to get a MacBook Pro at jbhifi?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • Great. I am planning to get a mobile phones. It is going to be painful with $50 split payment.

    • +1

There's a limit of 5 cards per transaction (and maximum card denomination is $50), but of course you can get around that.

      • I don't think JB imposes 5 cards per transaction limit!??

        • There's a limit on PURCHASING the cards from Coles…. read the original post.

        • +1

@b-radicool: I know, but you are replying to @bisaya and the question was, can multiple cards be used at JBH

        • +2

@feihong: Ah, my bad! Thanks for correcting me.

    • Standing in jbhifi now and they have 10% off MacBooks this weekend. Even the new one with touchbar. Prob best time to buy it I reckon, combining both offers.

      • I can't find new macbook pro on jbhifi website. Is it in store already?

        • yup.

but the 10% off is only on current stock. custom orders not included. they had the 13 inch 2.9ghz and 15 inch on display.

  • Personally I find this gift card very useful, used up a lot at JB and Toysrus. The only grudge I have is I wish they come in larger denominations, $50 split payments are a bit painful!!

  • Can coles gift cards be used to purchase other gift cards in store?

    • +1

T&C says no but system does allow it. However, it's getting more and more difficult as staff members become aware of this and the success rate has dropped below 50%

      • +1

I suspect they have built the conditions into the eftpos system or the register system so it's not up to staff discretion any more.

        • +1

I was able to buy with Coles Myer gift cards during the last deal, but I have heard the system is being upgraded. Will find out in due course.. This is another reason why I find buying gift cards at Woolworths more favourable.

    • Coles gift cards can't buy other gift cards anymore, the system won't allow it.

Coles Myer cards can still buy third party gift cards but won't allow you to buy another Coles Myer card as this gets around the expiry date.

  • So if I wanted to buy a phone from jbhifi that's $1419 I can buy $1400 worth of these gift cards for $1260 then @ jbhifi pay the remaining $19 on EFTPOS? Will I still be able to claim TRS on the purchase of the phone from jbhifi?

    • Yes you can do a split payment on purchases, and yes you can claim TRS as you only need a tax invoice.

    • +1

yes you can and that price sounds familiar google pixel XL? I was able to bargain that phone to $1390 last month. They were hard to bargain as it's new phone.

      • do you notice the lens flare hardware problem in photos facing the sun?

    • We know what phone you are getting :-)

      • My plan is: %10 off using gift cards, I got a credit card which will give me a $250 credit, then claim TRS. So I think all up I'll get $519 in discounts/rebates 😊

        • A card that's giving you $250 credit?

Ah CBA low gold card with $250 cash back?

        • @tajid: yep :)

        • +1

reminds me off my recent purchase of 2 iPhones from HN using 8 amex cards. $400 off each phone and then TRS refund on both.

        • @bkx3virgin: Did you split the cost of each phone across 8 American Express cards?

Are they all in your name?

        • @lyle88:
Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to get this.

        • @skywalka: 4 in my my name, 4 in the wife's. had to bring her along for the 2nd phone as they realized it wasn't my name on the cards. but thy still put it thru.

a mate just bought a fridge by splitting across 4 cards and got $100 back. so definitely possible.

        • @bkx3virgin:
          Wow!

If only you used your power for good…

        • +1

@bkx3virgin: haha… just made a booking a meriton apartments in Sydney for 3 nights for $1200. Split it across 6 cards so ended up only paying $600. Happy days.

        • @bkx3virgin: that's awesome. Did you pay during check in? The staff was happy for you to use cards not under your name?

        • +1

@Jared17: I have 8 Amex cards (reserve, edge, velocity, cba, Westpac, supp for wife's velocity, supp for wife's edge, supp for wife's reserve). Al in my name.

Thanks. Will stock up on the JB Hi-Fi Gift cards.
Then wait for the 20% off bluray sale to stack on top of the 2 for $15 blurays to stack on top of the newsletter 10% off :-)

    • Where did you get 10% off from Newsletter. I belived the code expired already.

      • Your right 10% was friday only had plans on getting something with this and 20% off could not decided now i want 10% off ended so just hoping there be another deal like that again. Dont think i have seen 30% in total at anyone time on blu rays.
Gutted i never just got it.

        • Thanks. Didn't realise it was for one day only.

        • @congngo:

Yes im gutted as item i was not sure if to get would have been $53 cheaper with that extra 10%. Now that 10% ended im not paying extra $53 for, hopefully another deal will come along.

Great deal, used these last time with Baby's R Us 10% price beat promise for a cheap baby car seat

  • Can we use staff card to buy these gift cards?

    • My woolworths staff card works on gift cards at woolworths, obviously coles could be different.

      • How many extra % of discount for staff members, just curious?

        • 5%

    • also would like to know - in the past staff card hasnt worked on any gift cards

  • anyone know the maximum jb gift card coles sell?

    • Don't worry it's $100

  • Is this limited to 5 per transaction?

    • Yes. But the staff there will help you process multiple transactions so you can buy as many as you want. It's limited to 5 at a time because the PoS system struggles to activate more than 5 in one transaction. Even with 5, it takes a while to process…

    The title is so misleading…

    Instead of this:
    10% off JB Hi-Fi/Dymocks/ToysRUs/BabiesRUs/ Rebel/Amart Sports/CottonOn/Event Cinemas/Good Food Gift Cards @ Coles(Starts 30/11)

    It should of been this:
10% off Event Cinemas, Good Food, Ultimate Kids and Dinner & Movie Gift Cards @Coles

    Description should of been this:
Ultimate Kids Gift Cards Include the following stores:
    JB Hi-Fi
    Dymocks
    ToysRUs
    BabiesRUs
    Rebel
    Amart Sports
    CottonOn

Some of us thought it was 10% off either of the following:
    JB Hi-Fi/Dymocks/ToysRUs/BabiesRUs/ Rebel/Amart Sports/CottonOn/Event Cinemas/Good Food Gift Cards

    Not Ultiamte Kids Gift Cards

Just wanted to point out that I bought a few of these during the last promotion at coles and 2 of the cards did not activate correctly. I only found this out when trying to buy something but I got 2 different errors, one was basically no cash loaded on card (even though my receipt showed all activations were successful) and the other one was a "faulty" card that would just throw an error on the UKGC website and couldn't even check the balance.

It has been a bit of a nightmare as UKGC sent me back to coles, coles sent me back to them and after the 4th time someone worked it out. Basically if they don't activate then the people over at UKGC wash their hands of you. The coles gift card centre also doesn't want to know you as this is only for their own brand. There is another division that isn't really visible on the website and even the customer service reps didn't have much of a clue on, but this division handles activations and has their own set up but I have never been able to find a number to call them directly, it's only been via email.

So just a heads up to check your cards and if you run into the problem of a failed activation or $0 balance when there should be money on it, save yourself some time and headaches, make sure to keep all of your receipts and cards and contact [email protected] with your full details.

    • Thx for this great information!

    • Yeah, thanks for this. I'll be checking all mine ASAP

    • colleague of mine just emailed them due to a card not activating when he went to JB to purchase something.

    • Hi, just bought a $30 of these cards, went home to check the balance and I'm getting "Invalid Card Details"… Should I wait a little as it may take time to update on their site or contact Coles immediately?
