  • Hadn't seen these guys before - trying to work out if their WPI is better than http://www.bulknutrients.com.au/products/natural-whey-protei…

    Thanks for the post OP

    • +1

Heyo. Obviously I'm going to be a bit biased, but our WPI and the one you linked to on Bulk Nutrients are very similar.

Though, I have tried both and I prefer our flavours as they aren't as sweet. Stevia is a natural, calorie free sweetener, but it's 200-300 times as sweet by volume as regular sugar, so getting the exact amount required with consistency is a challenge and I believe we've nailed it.

For an awesome deal from us, grab a 2.5kg bag of any flavour WPI and you'll get free shipping. So, that's only $103.90 for 2.5kg. From Bulk Nutrients, 2kg is $106 after shipping. That's 25% less for more $$$.

I'll keep an eye out on this thread in case anyone else has any questions.

      • Is it possible to just get a sample of chocolate and vanilla? Keen to grab that 2.5kg but would like to try the stuff out if possible

Try our Sample Pack which is also on sale AND qualifies for free shipping:
          https://www.trueprotein.com.au/shop/wpi-protein-sample-flavo…

It's a special offer for new customers, so limited to one per household.

        • @Trueprotein:

Sounds good - i'll order that one. Any idea if you guys will get the big protein shakers back instead soon?

Also one other question for you - the true protein one has several thickening agents etc (soy lecithin, xantham gym and polydextrose) - why would bulknutrients have 0 of these, or do they not list them?

        • @Trueprotein:
Sample pack isn't coming up as free shipping for me is there anything I need to do to qualify?

        • @scraggers:
Very good question. I'm almost 100 certain that Bulk Nutrient would have a very trace amount of Soy Lecithin in their NZ WPI. They do mention this in their regular WPI's, but as with our the amount in the protein would be a very small trace amount. It is used to prevent clumping.

Polydextrose and xanthan gum (vegetable gum) are thickening agents, but they are used in such small mount, that they have virtually no impact on the nutritional content of the formula. In very small amounts, these create a much fuller texture of the protein and improve the taste by a large margin (this is a big reason why many prefer the taste of our NZ WPI over BN). They aren't used as fillers and we have sourced these ingredients from certified organic producers. We haven't updated the site to mention this yet as it is currently undergoing a overhaul.

Regarding polydextrose, we actually don't use this ingredient anymore. We've found a more natural and certified organic substitute called Inulin. I'm just updating the ingredients on the website now to reflect this.

It is possible that BN use thickeners, but don't mention them. I can't be certain, but I'm of the opinion that if they are in no way harmful, don't diminish the nutritional profile, and make the protein taste much better, than it is better to have them in than without.

          @scraggers:

I'll have a look into the sample pack shipping options now. It should show free shipping, but it appears there is a bug. Will post back here shortly.

        • @scraggers: I buy the "Natural" flavour to avoid these additives and sweeteners. I don't want to consume stevia on a regular basis either. It probably isn't bad for you, but it tastes fine in natural flavour so why gamble.

        • @pantsparty:
Completely appreciate that and I can confirm that the natural does not contain any thickening agents.

I personally buy the natural and blend it with a frozen banana and quality peanut butter in my $30 Ninja (Thanks OzB!).

        • @scraggers:
Sorry, no ETA on the bigger shakers at the moment.

        • @Trueprotein: You would think a company that offers free protein testing of other competitors products wouldn't be adding ingredients not listed on the package!

        • @domingochavez:
I've reread your comment 5 times and I still can't decipher what you're trying to say.

Did you have a question for us?

        • @scraggers:
I've fixed up the free shipping issue for the sample packs. Sorry for the delay!

        • +1

@Trueprotein: Looks like bulk nutrients does free protein testing if you send in a powder - pretty interesting.

Somewhat misleading from them if they use soy lecithin and don't mention it in their ingredients.

Also, I ordered the sample bundle - hopefully it arrives before the 20% off sale ends :D will be pumping those drinks down.

  • any discount codes?

    • Sorry, this offer is not stackable with any discount codes.

Though, check out our 2.5kg bags of flavoured WPI which qualify for free shipping as they are just over the $99 threshold.

      • in bulknutrients.com ,3kg wpi for 97 dollars, can you beat the price?

        • Apples to onions. That WPI is sourced from the US. Not even in the same league as NZ protein.

Please refer to scraggers comment above for a better comparison.

BN does something similar, but on sale our 2.5kg bags are a much better deal.

  • Is this wpi fonterra based?

Edit: also, is the natural flavour just raw wpi?

    • I'll have to get back to you on who our supplier is, but I can say that we add nothing to the natural whey protein.

    • I have emailed True Protein before and asked this same question with no reply. I imagine they would prefer not to answer. If the answer is yes, then we can all go and buy big bags of Fonterra WPI from a number of other suppliers much cheaper (although a 20kg bag is around $500 so its a big investment!)

      • although a 20kg bag is around $500 so its a big investment!

        Group Buy?

We can divide up the white powder later in a car park, won't look dodgy at all!

  • I just bought a sample pack. Hopefully it goes well! Will give a update on flavour and consistency if requested.
