  • Good deal although store credit only valid for around 2 weeks..

  • The equivalent Sony is at a $200 premium over this, are they on par or is HiSense better than the Sony.

    • Which Sony are you referring to ? For only $200 difference mostly people with go with Sony.

    • +1

I personally think the Hisense looks better, but the Sony has AndroidTV which is great.

      • That's interesting , SOny is being beaten by HiSense :)

Android TV maynot be a deciding factor as Xiaomin boxes are there for $99 or so

        • +1

Hisense is a higher model with better blacks, motion and colours (I think), the sony X7500 is essentially their entry level UHD (55" was down to $1096 until yesterday), it is still very good.

        • @hypie: Oh that is no good then , I though both are HDR enabled ,so the panels may be competitive …Have read glowing reviews of the Hisense model , will wait until 70 inches drop to this price

        • @kamban:

Neither is HDR10 supported I don't think. But those TV's are over $2500 (for 65")

          https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/4vojfu/list_of_tvs…

        • @hypie: meh then , can't be assed to plonk my half a month salary in something that doesn't future proof

        • @hypie:

Both are HDR10, but not Premium HDR.

        • @snuke: what is premium hdr?

        • @riddick4:

A LCD TV must output a minimum of 1000 nits, OLED 540 nits, plus a bunch of other stuff. It's actually called Ultra HD Premium, see more details here and many other places - http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/ultra-hd-premium

        • @snuke:

HDR10 requires 10 bit colour depth. The Hisense is not 10bit.

  • 120n Hz refresh rate decent ?

I bought this TV. i can confirm that the picture quality is excellent. It will need a firmware update (you have to call hisense) to enable HDR.

    • Is there a way to get the firmware without calling up? I want to get mine updated but don't want to be on hold for yonks…

      • I've read on some forums that you could send them an email too. But I would still say calling is better, doubt they'd put you on hold for too long. (I personally haven't done this, don't own this TV but was looking into it, so don't hold me up to it!)

        • Just sent them an email via their support contact us page. See how that goes.

        • +1

@irishjoe: i can send you mine. send me your email address if you want to take the risk of not going through Hisense

        • @Caghan: Thanks for that but I don't know how to contact members… I got an email back from Hisense saying to ring them when I am in front of my TV. Will give that a shot as it's probably safer than possibly bricking my TV with incorrect firmware. Cheers anyway :)

        • +1

@irishjoe: yeh as they assume all responsibility if you screw it up under their direction. Good call. the wait isnt bad either just call early morning. you are also going to need to use a windows PC and not a mac.

  • How does this brand compare to the others?

  • +3

Getting close. MY target is the 70" at this price. Very nice TV

    • Agreed… on the hunt for it as well

      • if you're in melbourne we can negotiate as a pair when the time comes ;-) I'm restricted to JBHIFI though as I need to offload a lot of gift cards.

        • Sydney here

    • Same - waiting for boxing day sales and hopefully the 70" will become a viable option at the right price point.

      • We should really band together and goto JBH, not kidding.

        • I'm keen.. have many jb hifi vouchers to use also

Would definitely be worth the haggle

  • +4

Comes with 3yr warranty as standard as well.

Bought this TV yesterday at Harvey Norman for $1795 + $100 store gift card (valid for 2 years). Unfortunately didn't sign up for the AMEX deal so didn't get the extra $100 back. The box was too big to fit in my car so organised delivery for Tuesday ($49). Saw the GG store credit deal today and was crushed. Managed to cancel my order with Harvey today with full refund because I hadn't taken delivery yet! Purchased through GG online as per this deal still getting it delivered tomorrow. Extra $150 store credit plus a socket set = very happy! Hope the TV is as good as the reviews suggest…

    • I bought on Sunday from HN using Amex - but didn't see any reference to $100 store gift card. Was this standard or did you negotiate this separately?

      • +1

I negotiated it with them because of the socket set offer from Good Guys (valued at $150). Told them if they couldn't offer anything to sweeten the deal I'd walk across the road and buy from there instead.

        • Nice one - didn't think to negotiate further :(

    • Its products have a higher reputation than its counterparts in China now…My college roommate got a job from Hisense for about 270 aud a month 10 years ago, now he can earn as much as I earn in Tsingtao, China.

    • is your car just a regular sedan size? wondering if it will fit in my 4wd.

      • +1

I have a Mitsubishi Outlander. With the rear seats fully folded down the box would have stuck out of the boot and, if stood vertically, it would have been taller than the opening. Box dimensions are 1614 x 1016 x 185 (mm).

  • how do you get the HDR firmware update?

    • update through wifi/wired internet connection through the settings probably

      • I've heard you need to contact HISENSE and ask them to email it to you. Things may have changed.

    • You have to call their customer support. not hard. i did it last week got it sent to my email within 2 days

  • its ULED vs. OLED

    I'm really uncertain about ULED.

    • ULED is meaningless. its just a 4k LED LCD.

      • yeah ULED is just creative marketing nothing more. I still want the TV though. Not too fussed about OLED and associated pricetag.

PLEASE don't buy this! Ghosting is shocking… Un-usable, seriously save your money and energy. Don't believe me? Go into the store and play a dark video. I was watching "In the Heart of the Sea" and nearly died…

    • +1

I thought a lot of the ghosting issues were fixed through settings? disabling certain 'features' etc?

      • Ghosting can be caused by having the higher refresh rates on. Disable them, and reassess.

      • I watched planet earth 2 and luke cage on the model below this the K3300 range and it looked great. No obvious ghosting. Nor have i read major issues of it in dozens of forum pages….

    • +4

Plague69 do you own this tv and have you spent time calibrating it for your desired viewing pleasure?

This is one of the most highly rated products i have come across in my years of trawling forums. I am yet to read a negative user review of the TV once proper TV tuning, firmware updates installed and defective products been replaced. No one should believe you if your comments are based on a quick viewing of an in store setup. You cant judge TVs on how they are set up in store.

When it comes to ghosting many people rate the Hisense M7000 range better than the big brand tvs that cost 1000s of dollars more.

      • -1

I returned this same one after almost a fight. Samsung worked out of the box. Buy if you want, just a warning, not my loss.

        • Yeah out of the box its true you may experience a bad picture. Probably would of been easier to just turn off the Ultra smooth motion setting than take it back but each to their own.

        • +3

@rakerr: Which you should turn off on EVERY single tv ever…. either this bloke had a defective model or i call BS..

    • There is no Ghosting. i have this TV. no problems with PS4 as well.

  • Is there a deal for the Hisense 50M7000UW as well?
    Thanks

  • The HDR on this TV is terrible. There is no pop-up or notification alerting you HDR is on - the HDR feature is just a work-around HDCP 2.2 for HDMI ports 1 and 2.

    • It works on hdmi 3 and 4 i believe?

      • It might be on HDMI ports 3 and 4. I can't remember and too lazy to have a look behind the TV now its wall mounted.
I regret falling for the Hisense HDR claim, because I saw the other ones in the shop and now I realise what HDR is supposed to look like.

        • +2

Tommy have you updated your firmware so that HDR works?

        • HDMI ports
          HDMI inputs 4
HDMI type 4K@60Hz with HDCP version 2.2 HDMI 3, HDMI 4
HDMI type 1.4 with HDCP version 1.4 HDMI 1, HDMI 2
ARC -Audio Return Channel HDMI 2
MHL - Mobile High Definition Link input HDMI 1
CEC- Consumer Electronics Control via HDMI Yes

    • -1

Tommy do you care to elaborate? Are you saying that because there is no pop up its terrible? or are you saying because its only HDR enabled on 2 of the 4 HDMI ports and USB port that its terrible?

Do you have an issue with the HDR picture itself when its in use?

      • I would think he is talking about the general misleading usability of HDR, getting an update, lack of on screen display etc. And rightfully so being annoying let downs experience wise. Picture quality wise i have read too many good things from people who purchased, plus seen it for myself too. I'd definitely buy one (and will if i see 70" hit a super sweet spot).

        • yeah its pretty poor for this day and age.

  • Hi - can anyone chime in if it is worth waiting a couple more months till NY /boxing sales for a TV in this range? it would appear this Hisense, Sony X7500 and LG equivalent have all been released middle of this year with HDR and are unlikely to be superseeded anytime soon.

    • +1

I would say it depends, are you looking at this particular model or some other brand? If it's this Hisense, I would recommend going for it now. Doubt the price would be much lower in a month and if it is, you can argue that you got an extra month of using it!

If it's one of the other brands, maybe wait till Boxing day.

  • Done a research on Whirlpool, a user called Henry recommended setting judder to 3 and blur reduction to 10.

  • Great deal - I should have waited. :/

  • There's another Hisense 65" on the website for a couple hundred less, I'm assuming it doesn't have HDR or something?

    • If you gave a link to it, then know one would have to guess what you're referring to. As the only one I see to match your description is this - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-65-inches164cm-uhd-le…
And it clearly says High Dynamic Range, I feel I may be looking at a different one to you.

    • I had a very quick glance at the hisense website and series 7 had RRP of $3500 whereas series 3 had RRP of $2500. You can probably find exact differences on website.

  • Any cheaper one with smaller screen size. 65" is bit to big perhaps 50"?

    • -1

      Yes.

      • HISENSE - 50K3300UW - 50" UHD … can anyone please confirm this tv has same HDR technology??

        • This is the same model as this post in 50": https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/hisense-50-inches126cm-uhd-le…

The one you've mentioned is a different series and I believe it's lower than the M7000.

        • @alwaysupforabargain: thanks but that wasn't my query. Just wanted to know if the 3300UW is a hdr model

        • @Gavman: It is not a HDR model. My girlfriend has the 55" K3300 model. If you can get with extra discount as part of ebay promo etc. i still rate it as exceptionally good value for money. Tweaked the calibration and i have to say it is exceptional value bang for buck. Pretty good picture and upscaling. Check the whirlpool forums or google there may have been mention of flashing the tv with a euro firmware that might of enabled HDR - can't remember, might be getting my models mixed up.

  • $550 delivery…… Oh dear.
Won't fit in back of the i30 I fear

  • so much talk of HDR10 and no mention of Dolby Vision.

    http://www.techradar.com/news/hdr10-vs-dolby-vision-heres-wh…

    • +1

Because we all know it's not relevant to this TV. LG is the only brand in Aus with Dolby Vision.

  • According to this it has about 54ms of input lag while HDR gaming. Would it be possible to implement a HDR gaming mode via a firmware update?

    • Possible, yes, but that doesn't mean it will happen.

  • I receive mine this week - can anyone recommend a good wall mount for this size and weight (VESA 400mmx400mm and 31.8kg without stand)? Have previously heard Selbys are good? http://www.selby.com.au/brackets-and-wall-mounts/lcd-led-pla…

    Also - any preferred settings?

  • Buggar, missed out. Guess I'll wait for the next "weekly" eBay/GG/Bing Lee deal

    • 20% TGG eBay at the moment

      • +1

None are listed on ebay currently. First time they haven't been included. shame as 20% off the current goodguy price would of been great for the 65".

        • That's TCL 70 was a good price after eBay discount……..but no stock.
          The Sony 55 deal doesn't have delivery……
Haven't found anything so far this time round.

  • anyone received the cashback?

    • Still waiting. At least I remembered to claim the socket set yesterday before it expired.

      • just received mine store credit

        • Yeah, just got mine too :)
