  • Can Australian residents get the rebate?

    • I've seen that it's US only, so I'm not sure about that.

Also, RX 480s are cheaper than this, and they have better performance, right? Also 8GB VRAM.

      • Yes and no, the 1060 has more raw power and generally wins in DX11 however at the moment the RX 480 has better optimization within Vulkan (heavily amd backed) and DX12. This however will be a moot point down the line when DX12 is mainstream as I imagine Nvidia will step up theit driver. Another note though is you get Civilization VI for free when you go with amd.

        • How do I get Civ VI? I'm just about to buy this: https://www.amazon.com/XFX-RX-480P8DFA6-Radeon-3Displayport-…

          Edit: Google worked. http://www.amd.com/en-us/markets/game/featured/civ-6

Are we sure that's international? I can't find the terms since the link just redirects back to that page. In fact, I can't even find out how to redeem this. Good work, AMD.

Edit 2: That link near the * just started working. Weird.

        • @jazoom: https://www.amdrewards.com/amdrewards/files/AMDRewards-Civil…
I dont see any mention of US exclusive or Australian exclusion

        • @Plartus: Yeah, I eventually found that when the link was working. Thanks heaps for mentioning this. I had no idea.

Hopefully Amazon will give me the "Unique ID".

        • +1

Drivers will do NOTHING to help Nvidia with DX12 and Vulkan.. They themselves have been saying this about OLD GTX980Ti for over a year. They said drivers would fix async compute on RX980ti .. all BS.. only new hardware will fix the lack of DX12 support on Nvidia cards all current NV cards do not fully support DX12.. marketing BS on the box aside. It doesn't very simple!

        • @vid_ghost: I honestly think it comes down to Price, too many games are nvidia optimized these days but in general both cards will do a great job @ 1080. Buy the cheaper is my general consensus.

        • @jazoom: Also the G1 is slightly cheaper considering we cant get the rebate? https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-Graphics-GV-RX480G1-G…

        • @Plartus: Also I have a FreeSync monitor and I like to support openness.

        • +1

@jazoom: Fair enough either is a great choice, enjoy your card and the free game!

        • @Plartus: Thanks 😁

    • Rebate NOT available to Australians:

Offer only valid in the US (including Puerto Rico). Rebate Payable in
      US Dollars for US Residents.

    • Sorry about that lads deal edited.

  • Shop name in title please

    • Done :)

  • FWIW, I purchased the MSI 1060 for around $10 cheaper from Harvey Norman using amex promo and price match.

    • Also I got a Gigabyte 1060 6gb G1 for $369 delivered in the recent Shopping Express deal. Faster card, local stock and only $17 more, delivered in 2 days.

      • The Gigabyte GTX 1060 6gb windforce is $345 on Shopping Express right now. Is that a good price for it?

        • Its $355 with postage and in regards to the G1 almost all the cards can be overclocked to around the same level. That said there is a slightly better cooler on the G1 but that deal is over and some may have missed out.

        • @Plartus:
Like the previous poster said, there's a Windforce for $355 locally ($3 more) which is just as good as the Asus and the G1 was $17 more for local stock of a better card.
I don't think this post is a bargain at all, the Windforce is the better deal.
