    I prefer hydra wise

    • Hail Hydra

  • How bout that.. this already does two things I'd thought would be a good idea to add to my retic.
Flow meter for when someone drives over my sprinklers and it's dumping water all over the road, and since I've started messing with Home Assistant last week was just thinking it would be good if my retic could adjust the run times when the weather's hotter or cooler.

Didn't know this or the Hydra existed..

    • You guessed it right….It also gives you an idea on how much water you used for each zone and on top of everything it is weather intuitive i.e it won't water on the day it has rained in your area. You can set the watering schedules and best part is $$ savings.
We are proud to be part of Australian made and Designed product and you can compare the price and features with all our competitors….I can guarantee that nobody can beat this product.

  • How does this connect to the Internet? Specifically, how safe is it?

Does it send data to your servers or the cloud? Does it have a a default login that can be compromised? Can I change the password?

Does it show a web interface, or do I need to use app to interface with it?

I've looked on the website, but can't find much info. Is there a user manual published?

    • The communication protocol is 128 bit secured so your data is safe. All you setting and data are secured on our servers and unless somebody knows your password they can't hack into the system. You can change the password as many number of times as you like.

It has got both App and web interface. You can control this from anywhere in the world.

You can download the manual and Technical User guide from "Manual" section

      • "they can't hack into the system"
        Famous last words :)

      • Some risks seem apparent. If your company folds, we are left holding useless equipment.

We could be held to ransom if you choose to introduce monthly fees.

Your wording says that the system requires Internet connectivity. If my internet is down, will the watering not work at all? What if it misses an instruction to turn off? Or is it fair to say we could access it from our local network, even if the Internet is down?

        • If the Internet is down, your system will still keep on running. Only your flow and error notifications won't be working until internet connection is restored. This company is in Australia from last 40 years and selling this unit from last 3 years. I believe they won't go down that path of monthly fee as if they could do it even now if required and the given price point does allow them to do it but this is not the strategy.

        • Not sure if Valvesdirect are just distributors for this (Nymet are the manufacturer, unless it's the same people) but valid points either way.

Also like to know the answers to these.

(I see response came as I was posting this ;)

        • @bamzero:

We are just the distributor for the product but knows the marketing strategy of company. This product is made and designed in Australia so you are not calling any overseas number for support and plus there is 2 year warranty if anything goes wrong.

This product is cloud based system so it does require connection to Internet and server to operate properly and can't be used on local network. This issue has always been there will all products working on cloud based technology.

  • BTW, $323.19 on eBay with CAUZ10 code (plus CashRewards back nearly $5 so ~$318).

  • the ironic geek in me notices I am considering buying a cloud-based irrigation system

    • That's great…..Just go for it…..I can guarantee that you won't regret your decision.

      • Will let it pass I think. I reckon https://opensprinkler.com/ is a better fit, as it does not rely on any cloud stuff. If you're interested in being a distributor for them (if they have such a model) you might be able to sell them cheaper than I can get them paying for my own shipping.
