Samsung Galaxy S5 16GB $455 @ Woolworths

120

Woolworths are offering a Samsung S5 for just $455, I've just bought one for my son for Christmas it's over $100 cheaper than Jb HiFi!! And you can get a $30 starter pack half price, that's got 6 GB data might just keep him going for Christmas week. I'm a Woolies customer and found the network coverage and service great as it's on the Telstra network

To be fair the original title did say

Get a Samsung S5 for Christmas

  • Use Amex deal for additional $20 off - Also, would try OW for price beat.

As a former S5 user, note that the front facing camera is TERRIBLE and has bad distortion due to the substandard lens Samsung used. Unless you like your self facing camera photos stretched.

      What direction? (ʘ_ʘ)

Basically if you take a self shot with the phone angled up, you end up with a fat chin and thin head lmao.

They designed the phone to take selfies with groups of people so it has some sort of fisheye effect.

    previously $379, $191.20 refurbished.

    Not a bargain.

I'd rather spend ~$100 more to get a oneplus 3 or xiaomi 5s.

    • Or Axon 7.

This is still overpriced $455 for a snapdragon 801 phone with a average camera???? in DEC 2016?

    RIP OFF!!!!

it only has this price tag because it's a samsung.

I happily use an S5 and thought I was late to the game picking one up a year ago. $455 seems a bit steep these days

  • Bit pricy should be cheaper, currently using the s5 thats on a contract with Optus 24 month plan, phone was 400

    • +3

$400 on a 24 month contract is not cheaper …

      • Was on the contract last year is what i should of said

  • Looking back at some of the previous S5 deals, this was selling sub $400 12 months ago, so not really that great a price.

  • I got a 32gb S6 from Kogan for my nephew for about the same price during an eBay 20% off sale a month or two ago. Obviously apples and oranges, but I know which one I would prefer.

    • The S5?

Seriously.. S5 or S7… the S6 can go home. Expandable memory and other niggling things that apparently I can't be bothered to remember.

      • If you would rather an S5 than an S6 for the same price, good for you. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me though.

I personally have an S7, but grey import S7 is about $200 more, or 40-50%. Not a huge difference between S7 and S6 if the lack of expandable memory is not an issue, and certainly don't think S7 is 40-50% better.

  • no point to get a Samsung S5 at end of 2016…

  • This is not cheap…. I paid in the 300s range for my Daughters and my wife's s5

  • I don't understand why anyone would spend this much on a phone that is 2.5 years old and significantly bettered by mid range phones from this year at the similar prices. I.e. the Nexus 6p or 5x or the Moto G4 Plus.

This phone is a dinosaur because phones really did come a long way in 2015 compared to 2014,especially the Samsungs.

    • Saw the TV Ad lady said "That's why I (don't) choose Woolie". Those people running the department has no idea about current mobile offer in the market !

I have had this phone for about 2 years. Still got some legs on it, the trouble was s6 wasn't that good and s7 is like $1000. But $300-4000 would be a better price.

Yeah id pass on this myself. Even a Moto G4+ or if you like Chinese crap Xiaomi are a better deal than this.
