        that would be the case if you went via STA or Byojet or bestjet etc, but to take advantage of Amex you need to use qantas.com

    I scored MEL-HK for $589 with this deal earlier in the year https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/250579 and thought that was a bargain! If you can, don't hesitate!

      Spent a fantastic 10 nights at the Conrad Hilton in June this year. Excellent hotel but pricey. If you are happier to be a bit closer to the shopping action I would look at hotels in Mong Kok area.

        I suppose you mean Conrad Hong Kong? Hilton's opening a very decent Hilton Garden Inn at MongKok in Feb and the rates look pretty good

          Hmmmmm. Nice. Might check it out. There was also the Cordis hotel I noticed in Mong Kok that was part of the Langham.

          That was another one to check out. The Conrad Hong Kong was over au$500 a night and that was after discounts.

    how flexible are qantas flights generally? if i want to change dates or cancel flights.
    How often is HK on sale via Qantas? I'm thinking about going next March but waiting on plans to finalise so can't really book so far in advance..

      They are flexible but you will most likely have to pay the other flight at then non-sale prices so not much point buying it in the first place except for maybe the cheap initial leg.

          sale fare change is $200 plus fare difference plus assist booking fee.
