I couldn't find an end-date for this promotion. I couldn't find details of how the bonus $10 is delivered (e.g. separate $10 card? or $110 loaded onto card?). But it's an extra $10 so who cares! (A full 10% not 9.x%.)

Some cute Christmas card designs are available, some as a physical card, some as an e-card, some as both. Here's the link.

I presume this works with the Amex/Westfield offer. The offer terms on the Amex website doesn't state that you can't use the Westfield card to buy a Myer's card. The Westfield website says: The Westfield Gift Card is accepted at over 8,000 participating retailers within Westfield centres Australia wide … including Myer … Gift Card acceptance is at the retailer’s discretion (so I guess it comes down to whether your local Myer store staff will let you buy a Myer g/card with a Westfield g/card). Note the processing and/or shipping fees for the Westfield card mentioned in the linked post.

I presume this works with the Amex/Myer offer, i.e. spend $150, get $35 back. I will try it online and let you know if it works.

Were you able to get a cheap Myer card at Woolies a couple of weeks ago? Let us know if it works with this offer.

Pretty sure you will not be able to buy a gift card with another gift card. Should work with Amex offer, effectively $45 for $150.

    • I think you're probably right, but some people might want to try it. The Westfield g/card terms and conditions basically say "maybe or maybe not".

    • +2

Yesterday I bought $250 coles group/myer card with $150 amex and $100 westfield voucher.

      • Great!

      • What's the reason for this? Do u get any further credit?

        • I presume that:
          1) Kah bought a Westfield gift card with their Amex card, using the Amex/Westfield offer mentioned above to get $25 back into their Amex account
          2) then bought a Coles/Myer gift card, paying for it with the Westfield gift card and their Amex credit card, using the Amex/Myer offer mentioned above to get $35 back into their Amex account.

Total spend = $250. Total cash that Amex will put back into their account = $60. I hope that helps.

        • @JoFord63: no total spend is missing surcharge for Westfield card.

        • @wxyz234: Good point. Thanks.

Total spend = $252.95. Total cash that Amex will put back into their account = $60 plus any credits earned in points from this purchase. .

        • @JoFord63: Which AMEX card is giving this much cash back? Cheers.

      • Kah, can you provide any further details about where you purchased the coles group/myer card? Do Myer stores sell them? Myer does not sell them online, at least I can't see them anywhere online, only the Myer cards. ( generally only shop online.)

        • +1

          In store only.

        • (I was trying to find out which store they bought it at. I only shop online, so I'm not familiar with where to buy physical gift cards instore.)

        • +1

Yes the steps were as follows
Bought westfield $100 voucher in Bondi (for $103ish but with $25 back from amex
Then walked into Myer and picked a coles group physical card (I was on mens level) loaded it with $250, I paid $100 from the westfield voucher I bought 10mins before, and $150 on my Amex card.
So I walk out with $250 coles group card for $193.

I didn't know about the Myer gift card offer at the time.
So you can buy gift cards with gift cards.
The store-person didn't know, but gave it a go and it was fine.

        • @Kah: Thanks for all the details. Much appreciated. Today was the first day I noticed the Myer gift card offer on the website, so i don't think it was available yesterday. Doesn't seem to be working today either!!!

    • You can buy 2 types of Westfield gift cards, the normal one with a $2.95 charge and a eftpos one with can be used anywhere that takes eftpos for $4.95

  • +3

You can use westfield giftcard to buy myer giftcard.
I have used it yesterday at southland myer

    • Thanks for confirming!

  • +1

    … (A full 10% not 9.x%.)

It is 9.x%, as you said, who cares. Good deal anyway.

    • Really? I pay $100. I get $100 plus $10. $10 is 1/10th of $100.
I'm not arguing. Just trying to get it straight in my head. Anyway, still happy about the offer.

      • +2

        You get $10 discount for $110 gift card, i.e. 1 - ($110 - $10 / $110) ≈ 9.09%.

        • I still don't get it, but let's not argue! (If I buy 10 cakes and they give me an extra one for free … still sounds like 11 cakes to me.)

        • +8

          @JoFord63: there's a difference between bonus 10% and saving 10%.

        • +2

@bluedufflecoat: When you say it that way, it clicks with me.

        • @JoFord63: It just the "new" way for business to confuse customer. It maybe just $1 difference for customers (between 10% bonus and 10% discount), but that means hundreds of thousand dollars to big business like Myer.

  • A full 10% not 9.x%.

    $10 off $110 value. It's 9.09% off

    • Really? I pay $100. I get $100 plus $10. $10 is 1/10th of $100.
I'm not arguing. Just trying to get it straight in my head. Anyway, still happy about the offer.

      • It's just the mathematics of which way you look at it. I spent $100, got an extra 10%, so it's 10% extra. Or, I got something worth $110 for $100, therefore a 9.09% saving. Same, same either way.

    • I reckon its $10 off the $100 I paid for the $110 value, which once I've combined with GWPs will give me about $220 value!

  • I bought $150 worth of Myer gift cards (plus a few other general items) on Thursday with my Amex, still haven't seen the cashback hit my account as yet. Can anyone confirm that they've got theirs?

    • I got an email right after for 4 cards. I wonder if this works for Coles/Myer gift cards

      • Yeah, I got the email straight after too (but it was the generic 'thank you for using your card … If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a $30.00 credit…). Nothing from them since though.

      • I bought $1400 of Coles/Myer gift cards on Thursday last week in 2 transaction of $700 on 2 different Amex cards.
$35 already back in both my accounts, in fact on one card the $35 credit shows up before the $700 debit.
I registered for the offer at the register while the shop assistant was loading up the cards, haha!

        • +1

Nice, just saw the $35 hit my account

  • +1

Anyone bought Coles/Myer group gift card and received email confirmation from Amex?

    • +1

      Yes, worked for me yesterday

      • +1

Did you get the 10 dollar free gift card from Myer?

        • Unfortunately no, I bought a $150 voucher

        • @praga:
Maybe you can go back to Myer and ask for the bonus? Probably worth a try.

    • Me too, and I paid with Apple pay (twice with 2 separate cards), and got $10 back emails from Amex at the same time as the $35 back emails pretty much straight after the transactions.

  • Can you use the coles/myer gift card to buy other gift cards at Coles like JB hifi or Bunnings?

    • +1

      Trolling me? LOL.

      • No, legitimate question and you'll get a +1 from me.
This is going to be an epic bargainception if you combine with amex.

I don't use Myers enough, but I know you can use coles/Myers gift cards at Coles, target, Kmart, liquorland.
Unfortunately you can't use them at Bunnings, but Bunnings gift cards are available at Coles….

        • Ok, cheers. This offer on the Myer website only refers to Myer gift cards, and I believe that Coles/Myer gift cards are a different thing. Also, I just looked up the terms and conditions for the Myer cards and section 1.2.c states "Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Gift Cards or other tender". I hope this info helps.

    • System will allow it but manual intervention is becoming more prevalent by the day.

      • Are you saying the system will allow it, but the staff member will say you can't use a Coles/Myers gift card to buy another gift card?

        • Yep that's exactly what I mean :D

        • +1

          @feihong:
Interesting, I will say I would like to pay by EFTPOS, or just look for the junior staff :P

  • I guess this only applies when purchasing Myer GC but not Coles Myer GC?

    • +1

Yes. Refer to the link I provided. (Although now that you mention it, I haven't searched to see if the Coles Myer cards are currently discounted anywhere else.)

  • -6

Can you use these gift cards to pay off laybuys?

    • Not sure. Look up here FAQs or terms and conditions.

    • Can't see why not, they wouldn't know where they originated from.

    • Yes, myer gift cards can be used to pay off laybuys.

      • Thanks for confirming.

    • +1

Why the neg votes for a simple question about laybuys?

My negative vote for this deal was not based on this comment, but the fact that buying online gift cards you do not receive the extra $10

  • I would still rather prefer Coles group GC than myer one, no much worthy buy from Myer these days

  • Just called MYER to enquire about the promo and when it ends and they didn't even know a promo existed and thought it was only online. I told them it was both online and instore.

Might try another store as I don't want to go in there and leave empty handed.

    • Just called another store and they don't know about it either but guarantee they will honour it as it is mentioned on their website.

      • Good to know. Thanks!

        • +1

The store says they have now received an email from head office about the promotion and that head office would be emailing them more details tomorrow. This is for MYER Marion. So they will honor the deal.

        • +1

@Spizz: Interesting! I was wondering if perhaps the promotion started tomorrow, because a lot of their deals end today and I reckon they don't want people to double up on the gift card offer and the current deals.

On the other hand, I just bought an e-gift card and received a tax invoice from Myer which said Total paid $100, total loaded $100. I called Myer and the rep I spoke to said that there will "definitely be $110" on the e-gift card when it is sent to me. SO I'll just wait and see.

  • -1

Where does it mention the extra $10? I added one $100 gift card to my cart but no mention of an extra $10?

    • +2

      Same issue.

    • Here's the link (mentioned in the original post) http://www.myer.com.au/#http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myer.com.au%2Fwebap….

I haven't had a chance to shop yet. I'll try buying one now to see if it works for me.

P.S. I just tested the link. It works whether I'm logged in or not. It doesn't seem to be linked to my Myer One account either.

  • Where in the link does it mention about the bonus? Can you use the Myers GC in other outlets within the Coles group?

    • +3

      1) Just underneath the page heading that says "Tis the Season to Give and Celebrate" you'll see a picture of a Christmas gift card. Just under that picture is the caption "BONUS $10 when you buy a $100 Myer Gift Card. Available in-store & online." Hope that helps.
      2) I'm not sure. My understanding is that Myer g/cards are different from Coles/Myer g/cards but other people seem to be saying differently. My understanding is that Myer g/cards can only be used in Myer but I could be wrong. I have given links to the FAQs and Terms/Conditions in the above comments.

I'm happy to hear what other OzBargainers have to say as I haven't paid attention to previous discussions about this issue.

    • +2

You can't use myer gift cards at other Coles group shops. You can only use them at myer, in store or online.

You can't use coles myer gift cards at myer online but you can use them in store.

    • No Myer only. Coles group card can.

  • +2

Anyone bought the giftcards online with amex? any email? concerned the domain is myergiftcards.com.au

Might just get off the couch and head in store to be safe.

    • I think you should buy them in store.

    • I think you are right. The Amex t&c's say it has to be myer.com.au

    • Thanks for pointing out the difference in domains. Let me think this through …

      • The Amex offer terms and conditions state: Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $150 or more on that Card, in one or more transactions, in-store at Myer or online at myer.com.au by 24/12/2016 to receive one $35 credit. Limited to the first 35,000 Cards to save the offer.
      • The Amex offer does not specify that you can't use it to buy gift cards.
      • When you buy a gift card at myer.com.au, it redirects you to myergiftcards.com.au.
      • Therefore, there is no way to buy a gift card on myer.com.au.

(Hmmmm. Have I gotten people's hopes up with a false deal? Can we not combine the Amex offer and the Myer offer? I'll investigate further. But even if we can't combine the deals, each of them are good offers on their own.)

      • Hi Jo,

I don't think you've got peoples hopes up on a false deal because it will work in store regardless right? (as people have stated they've already bought $150 in gift cards)

Let me know if i'm missing something.

        Cheers,

        • Thanks Phil. Comment much appreciated. Looking at my original post, I mentioned the Myer offer separately from the possibility of combining it with the Amex offer. So that's OK. But perhaps I should have personally bought a Myer gift card first before posting to confirm that the Myer offer would actually work. I just assumed that what was written on Myer's drop page would work LOL!!!

(P.S. This is my first post in months! Have been sooo busy. Now that I think about it, I used to always try out the DJs/Myers deals first before posting, because often the GWP info would be out-of-date.)

      • The offer conditions says excludes online gift cards….

        OFFER TERMS
        Excludes online gift card purchases.
Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $150 or more on that Card, in one or more transactions, in-store at Myer or online at myer.com.au by 24/12/2016 to receive one $35 credit. Limited to the first 35,000 Cards to save the offer.
Offer is limited to one credit per registered Card. Only spend on the Card number you register counts towards the Offer.
Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly at Myer. For example purchases made through a third party payment processor like PayPal.
Offer valid at Australian locations and website only.
Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form.
Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from offer end date.
Credit will not be applied to your Account if it has been suspended or cancelled.
Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.
        Full Offer Terms available here.

        • Damn, you are right. I swear I looked again and again at the T&Cs on the Amex website before I posted this and I just couldn't see it anywhere. I'm so sorry!

  • -1

i got a coles myer gc yesterday and they didn't give me this.

    • +1

My understanding is that Myer g/cards are different from Coles/Myer g/cards but other people seem to be saying differently. My understanding is that Myer g/cards can only be used in Myer but I could be wrong.

Also, today is the first day I've seen this offer on the Myer website, and I've been checking DJs, Myer and quite a few other websites every day (to become familiar with when they post average deals, great deals, and very rare deals).

    • Only with Myer gc.

  • Got some Myers gift card yesterday using the AMEX promo.
Should have waited to stack with this offer :-(

    • +1

I feel the same. Got one lot of $150 on Thursday.

      • Did you get yours online or instore?

    • +1

Bummer. In my experience, Myer rarely offers discounted or bonus cards, so I wouldn't have expected them to have this. Note that a couple of people have commented that this offer doesn't seem to be working though. I was about to test it but got caught up in the comments LOL! I'll try it now.

      • Lets us know if it works!

        • Did you get yours online or instore?

        • @JoFord63: in store

  • I'm instore now and asked.. they didnt know anything about it

  • Anyone confirmed this works for e-gift cards?

    • +1

Yep. See original post. "Some cute Christmas card designs are available, some as a physical card, some as an e-card, some as both." See link provided up top.

Edit: On second thoughts, I should have said the Myer website SAYS it works. I haven't actually done it yet so I can't confirm it just yet.

  • +1

No one has confirmed works online or instore

    • +2

I'm working on it. Just tried to buy 2 x $100 Myer card via myer.com.au.

Firstly, at no time during the checkout/shipping/paying process did Myer mention the bonus card.

Secondly, I got the message "Your purchase has FAILED". Then I got a text from Amex warning of a Fraud Alert, saying they would not allow the purchase. (On $200? Seriously?) Then I got an email from Amex waring of a Fraud Alert. Why!!!???!!!

      Will try again …

      • Westpac called me with fruad alert too

      • Citibank called me on a $50 purchase…

  • -3

Wow, some people have gotten too cheap…
    Dignity, guys!

    • No, I just want to figure out why the deals don't work together. I feel terrible that I posted a deal that doesn't seem to be working. (Kinda like the first deal I ever posted, which turned out to be limited to just one Priceline shop and for a very limited time.)

      • It is ok! You did your best.

  • Moderator, could you change the Go To Deal link to http://www.myer.com.au/#http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myer.com.au%2Fwebap…

(That's that page that mentions the link.)

    • +1

You're the OP, you should be able to change the link yourself. 😉

      • True. I just wanted to be transparent to other OzBargainers. I mentioned both links in my original post, but after seeing a few comments where people didn't notice the second link, only the first, I thought it might be easier if they were swapped around.
