Choose £ as country which is £29.99 and converts to $50.73 aud

    • Nice catch.

    • How? They seem to choose country based on IP address - changing the language doesn't make a difference, and there's nowhere to choose your country or currency. I don't have a VPN either (yeah I know, I don't belong on OzBargain! :))

I and a few others questioned the pricing in their forums and they say they just pick up the exchange rate as set by Apple in the Mac App Store every bazillion years… Pretty poor excuse, but anyway. I ended up buying their Affinity Designer at the full AU price and I still think it's good value for money, but can't help feeling peeved about the "Australia Tax" again. :(

I'll probably end up picking this up anyway, after using the Beta for a while.

      • I used a VPN to buy Affinity Design.

      • Sign up for a free trial with a VPN. They all offer them. Purchase software at discount. Cancel VPN.

      • Just below where you enter your email address you can choose a Country, just change it to United Kingdom and it changes the price to £29.99 - doesn't matter what IP they detect.

I chose UK and PayPal and it worked out to AU$52.84

  • I used this in alpha, it's pretty much just like photoshop with a couple of small extras and a couple of small things that aren't quite as good.

  • What are the benefits of paying to update from the free beta version?

    • I'm pretty sure the beta will stop working after a month or so, so you won't be able to continue using it.

      • Yup

  • I tried the demo, one thing I noticed was that it seemed laggy - for example I opened one of the sample images and when I turned layers on and off the redraw was block y as if it redrew it in a checker board pattern and not instant as I would expect. Did others see this? Is it still present in the final version? I had hoped / thought that the beta was a beta and they were shaking out some of that stuff but this quick a release the beta was clearly more of a promotion.
